He was the only one who had shares and collected bonuses for doing nothing.

When he returned after everything that happened all those years ago, he ended up losing his old network of contacts. No one dared to keep in contact with him. Even those who claimed to be his brother during those big company dinners had forgotten about him. They turned toward Wei Zilin instead and became acquainted with him.

All the frequent business dinners that he used to attend were no longer a part of his life. Even if he wanted to get out of the house, Wei Mingli would have no idea where he should go.

Occasionally, he would bump into old friends, but they carried a rather indifferent attitude toward him, the only reaction they would spare him was a polite nod.

Wei Mingli had lost his direction in life. Even now, he was not allowed to speak out nor make any decisions regarding his son’s big day.

He was spiteful about it, but because of Old Master Wei’s threat, he had to abandon his destructive plan.

Tian Fangyu smiled at Old Master Wei in gratitude.

It was not that she was overwhelmed by Xu Moyan. Xu Moyan was a nice girl and there was really nothing to be displeased about with her. She was willing to standby and offer support to her son if he wanted to marry her.

She was worried that Wei Mingli was determined to get involved and cause disturbance within the family. It would undoubtedly make her son very unhappy.

Her son was already of age and she really wished for Wei Zilin to have a family of his own. It made her feel incredibly envious whenever she saw little Muran and little Muche.

Now that Old Master Wei had Wei Mingli under control, it made her feel better about today.

When Wei Mingli had suddenly asked to join them on the trip to Jin City, she was really surprised. She was worried that Wei Mingli had something sinister planned.

Right at that moment, Wei Zilin had arrived with Xu Moyan.

Xu Moyan greeted everyone, not leaving out Wei Mingli. Even though Wei Mingli did not really like her, it would not be nice of her to be impolite as she was much younger.

As long as she greeted him, it did not matter what reaction Wei Mingli gave her in return.

Wei Mingli acted out as she had expected. When she had called out the word ‘uncle’ to him, he ignored her and sat where he was expressionless.

Old Master Wei ignored him completely. His threat was looming over Wei Mingli, and Old Master Wei was sure he would not be up to anything bad.

Everyone left the house together. Old Master Wei and Jian Muhua were in the car with the driver while Wei Zilin brought along Xu Moyan and Tian Fangyu with him.

Right before they got into their respective vehicles, Old Master Wei suddenly stopped next to the car and said, “Number two, you should come over here and travel with us!”

Wei Mingli was about to get into the car when he suddenly paused. He looked over and saw the stern expression on Old Master Wei’s face. He pressed his lips together and reluctantly walked over to Old Master Wei.

Wei Zilin said quietly to Xu Moyan, “Did you see that? Grandfather is looking out for you.”

Wei Mingli wanted to be in the same car as them, but without Old Master Wei watching over him, there was no telling what he would do or say.

Even if he did not necessarily say anything, just sitting there with a sulking expression would still affect everyone’s mood. Xu Moyan would not be able to talk to Wei Zilin comfortably.

This was a happy day and should not be spoiled by Wei Mingli.

Xu Moyan smiled and nodded; she had noticed too. She laughed and said, “I’ll be sure to be especially filial to Grandfather.”

Tian Fangyu unintentionally overheard what she said. It made Tian Fangyu feel that she had a good character.

Even though she was not entirely satisfied with Xu Moyan’s family background, but she did come from a family of intellectuals and that could be considered pretty decent. The most important thing was that the more time she spent with Xu Moyan, the more pleased she was with her character. Xu Moyan might just be the most suitable bride out there for her son.

In front of Xu Moyan, Wei Zilin acted very much unlike his usual self.

The clincher was that this girl had nothing but respect for Old Master Wei and she was not fearful of him at all. Tian Fangyu might not be the only one, but Old Master Wei has always been stern and dignified in his conduct all these years. When it came to facing Old Master Wei, she could never be at ease.

However, Xu Moyan was very open when spending time with him and Old Master Wei liked her a lot.

Tian Fangyu thought that Xu Moyan might be the bridge to improving their family’s relationship with Old Master Wei.

It was all because of Wei Mingli that the relationship between his siblings was broken. Old Master Wei might treat Wei Zilin well, but their family did not have capable people like Wei Minghao and Lin Qiuye. They were successful enough to carry the family name and connect with a senior such as Old Master Wei. No matter how capable Wei Zilin was, he was still separated from Old Master Wei by one generation.

“Such a sincere child,” Tian Fangyu smiled and got into the car.

Xu Moyan sat with Wei Zilin at the front as Wei Zilin took it upon himself to drive the car.

To make Xu Moyan feel less awkward about her presence, Tian Fangyu said the moment the car started, “I woke up too early today and need a short nap. There’s no need for both of you to bother yourselves with me.”

Xu Moyan took out a blanket from the front compartment and passed it to Tian Fangyu, “Auntie, there is a pillow at the back. If you feel uncomfortable sitting up, you can lie down for a while.”

Tian Fangyu smiled as she took the blanket from Xu Moyan’s hands. She used the pillow at the back and laid on it, completely taking over the back seat.

Xu Moyan felt more relaxed when she could not see her in the reflection of the front mirror.

They drove for more than half an hour on the highway and later drove for another half an hour more within the city before arriving at the house of Xu Moyan’s parents.

Even though they had contacted her parents previously to inform them that they would be heading over today, Xu Moyan still called home to inform them when she saw that they were about to arrive. Xu Moyan told her parents that they would arrive in another 15 minutes, in case her parents were anxiously waiting and wondering when everyone would arrive.

It was the weekend and there were many cars parked in the little district. Most of the families in the area were resting at home and did not go anywhere, which was why there were no parking spots available near the unit gate. They had to park in front of the neighboring building.

Wei Zilin let Old Master Wei have the parking spot nearest to the Xu family home and parked a little further up the road.

The driver helped unload Old Master Wei’s gifts. Wei Zilin had also brought along some gifts of his own. They headed to the Xu family home together.

When they turned a corner, they could see Xu Qingrui and Li Lanying standing in front of the building entrance from afar.

They did not expect them both to personally welcome everyone this way.

Xu Moyan quickly went forward to make introductions. Old Master Wei felt bad about it and said, “Why did you come all the way out here to welcome us? How long have you been waiting?”

Xu Qingrui smiled and replied, “We came out not too long ago. We got a call from Moyan, who told us you were about to arrive, so we came out to greet all of you. Moyan said you were coming along, as juniors, it is only right for us to do so.”

Xu Qingrui and Li Lanying quickly brought the Wei family upstairs.

It made the neighbors curious about the sudden wave of people visiting their house. Some of them were lounging in the courtyard trying to find out more about the situation from each other.

The Xu family were oblivious of this as they led the Wei family into their home.

The Xu family home was not big. There were two bedrooms and a living room. It was a little cramped with so many people visiting at once.

Li Lanying had prepared drinks, snacks, and fruits. Old Master Wei said, “In-law, you should stop fussing over us. We’re all family here. Do sit down.”

Still, Li Lanying made sure everything was taken care of before sitting down.

Even Xu Qingrui and Li Lanying were unable to relax in front of Old Master Wei. It was not only because he was the most senior in the Wei family, but also because Old Master Wei was the oldest amongst all of them. As juniors, they would naturally give respect to their senior.

Wei Mingli did not say a word throughout the entirety of the trip. With Old Master Wei around, he deftly led the conversation, steering Xu Qingrui away from any attempts to converse with Wei Mingli.

Old Master Wei’s threat had worked. Wei Mingli did his best not to pull a long face.

That was why everyone had a good time getting to know each other.

When it was time for lunch, the Xu family hosted everyone at a renowned restaurant in Jin City.

They discussed the date of marriage for both children over dinner.

They needed to pick a good date for registering their marriage as well. As they had already agreed to be Yan Beicheng and Lin Chu’s best man and bridesmaid, they would need to pick a date after Yan Beicheng and Lin Chu’s wedding.

Lucky for everyone, the wedding would be held in the next month, which was quite soon. Both families worked it out together and set the date for the marriage registration to be held on May 28th. When setting the date in a traditional calendar year and the lunar calendar, they specifically made sure to avoid April. As April was the fourth month of the year [The number four sounds like death in Mandarin], it was a number that people avoided out of superstition.

May 28th was also May 3rd in the lunar calendar. The almanac clearly stated that it was a good date that was suitable for marriage.

Next, they decided to hold the wedding in June the next year. It worked out well as they would have one year to prepare. They planned to have one wedding in B City and later one more in Jin City.

Wang Chao had no hotels in Jin City, but Sheng Yue did. All they needed to do was inform Yan Beicheng to book a time. It was very convenient.

Their friends and relatives from Jin City did not need to attend the wedding in B City. They would just invite them to attend the Jin City wedding.

As she did not come home often, Xu Moyan told Wei Zilin that she would like to stay overnight in her house. So, Wei Zilin stayed back to accompany her. Old Master Wei and the rest returned first.

This time, Xu Qingrui and Li Lanying did not separate them.

Wei Zilin was about to be a gentleman and volunteer to sleep in the living room so Xu Moyan could have the bedroom when Li Lanying waved her hand nonchalantly, “You’re about to get married, aren’t you? There’s no need to sleep separately. You can share Moyan’s bedroom tonight.”

Wei Zilin and Xu Moyan were stunned by her words.

Wei Zilin was slightly better at hiding his shock as he was still able to maintain a calm expression on his face.

Xu Moyan was so surprised, she stuttered, “Mum, Dad, you…”
