Chapter 40: A Chaotic Holiday Part 1

The competition between Mary vs Norman for regular exam this year was won by Norman again. As for the 2nd Year students…

“Amazing. Razé-chan, you’re the top ranking again. And Adis-sama too.”

Razé’s face turned pale when she heard Folia’s words. Don’t remind me of that… If I let him monopoly the first ranks, I don’t know what the Prime Minister will say later…

Since Welrian had personally told her about his son, Razé thought that she should consider his concern and helped him about it. It seemed that Welrian wanted Adis to do his best at the academy. And more importantly, Razé herself didn’t want to lose to Adis.

His birth, upbringing, looks, body, brain, swordsmanship, and even magic were superb. Didn’t people say that ‘God doesn’t give with both hands’? Then how many hands did God use for him?

Razé’s hands were tied so she couldn’t win the Battle Fiesta, but she had no intention to lose the regular exam too.

When Razé saw Folia looked despondent, she immediately comforted her. “There are still chances next time. Cheer up! Shall we go eat something sweet?”

“Un. You’re right. For now, I’ll have to do my best in Battle Fiesta this year.”

Razé felt that Folia’s positive attitude was worthy of a heroine. Then, she thought about her next task.

During the two weeks summer holiday, the Steering Committee members would gather for three days. If it was an off-season period like the winter, then it would be easy for her to adjust her schedule. Unfortunately, she was very busy during summer. There were tasks that only she could handle. If things didn’t go well, the amount of work might take more than two weeks.

“I’ll do my best too,” Razé said as she thought about her own upcoming battle.

Razé: “Captain Bonalt, good morning.”

Once the holiday started, Razé went to her office straight away. Her battle had already begun.

Razé: “I have school related matter on these days, so please keep that in mind.”

Bonalt: “O- Okay.”

He was astounded seeing Razé bustled about with her work immediately after returning from the academy. But he was thrilled that she was back.

Bonalt: “Leader, how was sch–”

Bonalt was looking forward to hear stories about her school life, but he held his tongue when he saw her speedily read through the reports while giving out dangerous vibes. He looked down and read the document given by Razé. ‘I will not work on these days even if I die!’ was written with huge letters.

“Huh? Three days?!” Bonalt was shocked when he saw the three consecutive days written on the paper.

As Razé’s adjutant, he knew how precious these two weeks period was. After all, Razé Orphan was the ace of ace in this country. She was a living legend. Her missions were always highly dangerous and difficult.

Razé: “I have a meeting for the school festival. All the members are VIP. Since I have already promised them, then I must go even if the sky falls down.”

Bonalt: “Leader…”

Razé’s eyes was full of determination.

Next, she went to the Staff Headquarter. Usually, she was less than thrill to visit that place, but it was different this time.

Welrian: “You’re here? I thought the end of term assembly just ended.”

Razé: “Yes. Time is precious. I can’t afford to waste one minute, or even one second.”

Welrian: “That’s true.”

Razé confronted His Excellency the Grim Reaper courageously. She immediately reported the main points and hoped that she could go back as soon as possible. After finishing her report, Razé waited for Welrian’s words.

Welrian: “These are what I want you to do during the holidays. There are too many undeveloped areas in Zone 15. Give priority to this and proceed with your research with Professor Fedrick. There were also various consultation requests from the Development Department. They want to hear your opinion, so make sure to give them a visit as well.”

Razé: “I understand.”

Once the list was confirmed, all she needed to do was to clear them one by one. Razé returned to her desk and immediately created a schedule.

Razé: “Alright. I’ll proceed according to this schedule. I’ll leave the rest to you.”

Bonalt: “Yes.”

Razé moved to another room and changed into combat uniform. If possible, she didn’t really want to go to Baruda right away but she needed to clear the tasks on hand.

Once Razé teleported to Zone 15, she started to scampered around like she was making up for the lack of exercise when she was in the academy. She hunted the monsters and collected their magic stones regardless whether they were new species or not. After that, she would write reports and sent the necessary samples to Shian’s base in Baruda.

She stayed in Baruda for 10 days.

Razé: “I want to go home. I want to eat delicious food. I want to sleep on a soft comfortable bed. I want to take a bath…”

Traveling between Baruda and Ordiana was only possible by using the national transporter machine. In order to cut down travelling time, Razé had to stay at the base inside Baruda. It was her school holiday, but it was not a rest day for her.

However, this was the price for having a fun school life. She had to bite the bullet so that later she could be a normal student meeting friends on holidays enjoying their youth!

“What a cheeky monster. How dare you set traps!”

The last day of the expedition.

She thought she was getting used to the ecosystem which was completely different from Ordiana, but Baruda was an intricate place. She wielded her sword and gun and used her dissatisfaction to motivate herself and proceed with the investigation.

Razé Granoli, who had fun studying at the academy, was not there. Instead of her trademark braided bang, her hair was pulled back and tied in a ponytail so that it wouldn’t get in the way.

Folia had said to her once before that she would love to see her grow out her hair. But long hair took time to dry and would be troublesome to take care of. So, she always maintained the length that was enough to tied up.

Razé pulled out a small glowing stone from the forehead of the monster she had defeated and sent it to the base with her magic. It was known that monsters would gain wisdom by eating humans. But she noticed that there were more monsters with slight intelligence dwelling deeper in the wilderness.

If Professor Yor knows about this, she definitely won’t let me go back home…

Razé decided to keep this a secret until the professor noticed it herself. She finished her investigation at a good stopping point and teleported to the base.

“Thank you for your hard work, Leader.”

“Thank you.”

She could finally return to Ordiana. She took a shower, and then used the teleporter machine to return to the continent where human lived.

T/L Note: I have omitted some dialogues with greetings like ‘yoroshiku’ and ‘otsukare’ because I’m too lazy to explain there’s no English translation for those words. They’re just greetings. ( ◜▿◝)ァ,、’
