Chapter 154: Hall of Fame Quest

Augustus was one of the most special NPCs of Pantheon. Even in the later stages of the game, Blade Peak where he resided was an absolute no-fly zone for players with flying mounts.

No one dared to fly past Blade Peak’s surroundings. Red Dragon Queen’s Fury would destroy anyone or anything that flew past. There was only one way to reach Augustus, and that was to climb.

As to why Augustus forbade players from flying, the official web gave an answer. Although Augustus successfully brought Red Dragon Queen to heel, up to now, Red Dragon Queen has never allowed him to ride her. Strictly speaking, his Dragon Rider title was more in name than reality.

The quests distributed by Augustus were particular. These quests were completely random and could range from anything to everything but there were no repeats. Moreover, the number of these quests distributed were based on the total number of Hall of Fame records achieved by a player.

Li Yi’s Pantheon Hall of Fame records was 25, reaching the bare minimum requirement for Augustus to distribute quests. But if Li Yi’s Hall of Fame achievements did not increase further after completion of this quest, then Augustus would ignore him from then on.

“Aid me in passing a message to Archbishop Karlinthor of the Church of Light in the Western Continent. Have him relay to his teacher that the particular changes of Abyssal Crevice have begun again.”

[Accept Messenger Quest?]

Li Yi was speechless and quickly confirmed the quest.

[Quest content: Head to the Church of Light of the Western Continent and seek Archbishop Karlinthor to relay Augustus’ message.]

[Quest difficulty: B class. Reward for quest completion: ?]

Li Yi truly did not want to go.

Karlinthor was well aware that he had joined the Cursing Sect. The high-level NPCs in King of Pantheon remember. If he were to show his face at a time like this, he really could not predict whether or not Karlinthor would attack him.

“What? Is this quest too hard for you?” Augustus snorted.

Li Yi forced a couple of hollow laughs, “Too easy, Lord Dragon Rider. Do you have anything harder?”

“When your reputation grows, come back to me,” Augustus resumed that elegant composure of looking dramatically into the distance.

There was only one way to win his favor, and that was to achieve more and more Hall of Fame achievements.

It was a time-restricted quest. If it was not completed within two days, it would be canceled..

Li Yi returned to the city once he was done purchasing Universal Keys.

The reward for completing a Hall of Fame quest was by no means insignificant. Even if Li Yi was unwilling, he had to force himself into it.

Li Yi made preparations and rode Crimson Tiger King on his journey.

This quest time will last only two days. There were no flying mounts yet so just the journey itself took up to a day and a half. If he was delayed, then he surely would not be able to complete this quest.

It seemed simple enough but truthfully, the difficulty level of this Messenger quest was not at all easy or else it would not be classified as a B-class quest.

King of Pantheon quests was divided into seven levels, SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, and D. A class and above are categorized as an Epic-Level class quest. The difficulty level was beyond imaginable but at the same time, the rewards were incredible.

Li Yi dared not think about A class and above. Even if he was given one now, he would not be able to complete it.

The difficulty level of this B-class Hall of Fame quest was quite high, let alone an A class.

As Ice Toad King leaped over the Abyssal Crevice, Li Yi managed to find his way to the Church of Light with ease.

If he were a newbie, even if the map was accessible on the official website, it was impossible to find the Church of Light within two days. Because on the way, he had to pass through seven human stations. One of them was a patrolling army of more than a thousand men scouring the continent. They would attack any foreign player on sight. The lowest level of these NPC soldiers was more than Level 80. Every one of them was an elite. Once they saw him, he could forget about walking away.

With Camouflage and Invisibility Potions, Li Yi made it to the Church of Light safely. One look at the church’s entrance and what he saw stumped him.

Over three hundred players in white robes were standing there. The Light Priest, Darwin, his face was enveloped with a holy serene glow, leading them in prayer.

“Is today Holy Light Day?”

Li Yi was dumbfounded. Now he finally understood why the Messenger quest was classified as B class.

The Church of Light held a Holy Light Thanksgiving every once a month. Any player who participated in the Holy Light prayer would obtain EXP. If luck was on their side, Archbishop Karlinthor would personally cast Holy Blessings (to increase the buff that lasts for ten hours. EXP obtained from monsters would increase by 30%) to reward these players.

Holy Light Day lasted for a whole day. As long as players stood at the doorway to bask in the glow of the Holy Light for an hour, their EXP would increase.

This was bad.

Li Yi felt a migraine coming.

An Invisibility Potion only lasted for 20 seconds and Karlinthor was situated in a little room deep in the Church of Light. Even with no hindrances, it would take at least three minutes to run in there to meet him.

And here there was a multitude of people. What was he to do?

Li Yi lay hidden in the dark, coming short of ideas. Seeing groups of players coming and going to receive blessings, their numbers kept rising.

He could not just wait any longer. The longer he waited, the riskier it became.

Li Yi thought for a moment before coming up with a horrible plan.

He quietly retreated and headed to a nearby human city, Soaring Cloud City.

Li Yi strolled around Soaring Cloud City and it was not long before he encountered three female players in white, leveling up in the wild.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Three arrows were fired and the three alt accounts in white collapsed.

“Why did they look so familiar?” Li Yi scratched his head. He suddenly recalled. Wasn’t it those three who he accidentally killed in the Church of Light the last time?

What a coincidence…

Well, it’s just your bad luck. It wasn’t my intention to specifically target you.

Li Yi retreated in embarrassment and continued on to find his next victim.

In a short time period, he successfully killed seventeen alt accounts. Each of them was killed in one shot. He intentionally left clues to tell these people that he was a foreigner.

Although Li Yi could not get access to the Western Continent player’s channel (There was only one channel connecting all continents, the World Channel) he could imagine that these Western Continent players could no longer put up with this nonsense.

Mission accomplished.

Li Yi had just retreated when over a thousand Western Continents players charged into Soaring Cloud City in anger.

Li Yi ran back to near the Church of Light. The number of players that were basking in Holy Blessing was halved, they must have heard the news in Soaring Cloud City and rushed over to help.

Li Yi stood back and kept watching the path toward Soaring Cloud City. When a few low-leveled players ran past, he immediately ambushed them.

Taking them down with a few arrows, he swiftly retreated, changing location each time he made a hit. He was going to force the other party into his pace.

“They’re foreigners of more than three hundred in number. Be careful of them sneaking into the city. All who hear this, head to Soaring Cloud City to support your allies and fight the enemy!”

Someone yelled and the number of players receiving blessings in front of the Church of Light declined once more as they gathered at Soaring Cloud City to backup.

It was time for them to get in the action and obtain Honor Value. There was a whole day left to receive Holy Blessings so they could return at any time.

The players gathered in front of the Church of Light were scattering. Once there were only around twenty to thirty people left, Li Yi drank a bottle of Invisibility Potion and quietly crept over.

Li Yi wore the Ring of Windstorms and Fiery Boots with added SPD effect respectively and successfully made it into the entrance of the Church of Light.

Camouflage!

Li Yi stood at the inside of the entrance and activated his Camouflage mode.

Although Invisibility Potion was useful, it had a fatal flaw. If the enemy got too close, the effect would disappear. This was similar to Thief’s Stealth or else Li Yi would not tempt the wrath of players of the Western Continent. Everything was fine as long as he made use of Invisibility Potion together with Camouflage.

“Those from the Eastern Continent really have no class. I really don’t know what they’re doing apart from killing alt accounts.”

“Yeah, I heard it’s one arrow, one kill. This fella must be strong. Sigh, I really can’t wrap my head around this.”

“What can’t you figure out? That bastard must be such a loser in the Eastern Continent, that’s why he’s coming over to the Western Continent to compensate for his impotence.”

“I guessed the same…”

There were players inside the Church of Light as well. They were currently discussing about Li Yi’s dirty deeds.

Li Yi calmly listened in while remaining untroubled. It was a complete misunderstanding the last time he killed alt accounts but this time, it was with purpose…

Once the Invisibility Potion’s cooldown period was over, Li Yi consumed another bottle and continued moving forward.

The Church of Light was humongous. There were several hundred rooms but Li Yi had no difficulty finding his way. He relied on his past life’s memory and arrived at Karlinthor’s room in Invisibility and Camouflage mode.

Not a player nor patrolling NPCs in sight. Li Yi let out a sigh of relief and pushed the doors open.

Karlinthor who was dressed in white sat on a chair and was reading a book. His face instantly darkened when he saw Li Yi.

“The fool that’s brainwashed by the Evil God, how dare you show your face?”

Indeed, even with his Trickery Ring shapeshifting his appearance and Cursing Sect Outfit kept aside at home, his deception was immediately seen through by Karlinthor.

“Although my staff’s not with me, the Holy Light within me will still punish you, evil Pagan!”

Karlinthor flung a shade of Holy Light which hit Li Yi in the chest. He retreated a few steps from the impact and a -1,200 damage appeared on top of his head.

“Dragon Rider, Augustus of Blade Peak sent me to pass on a message. Please tell your teacher that movements have begun yet again at Abyssal Crevice.”

Li Yi spoke that sentence in one breath before proceeding to down a bottle of Intermediate-level Recovery Potion.

This old man’s attacks were too powerful. It was fortunate he did not have his staff or he would be dead in one strike.

“Lord Augustus would not employ such an evil pagan like you to be a messenger! You can’t fool me!” The Holy Light in Karlinthor’s hands glowed. He launched another attack!

“Pagan, receive the punishment of the Holy Light!”

A long spear crystalized with Holy Light and pierced through Li Yi’s chest!

[-500,000 Critical Hit!]

Instant kill!

Li Yi collapsed onto the ground.
