Yelena lowered her hands from her face.

In this situation, she had no idea where or how to start.

Love. The word was too abstract.

In all honesty, Yelena didn’t know anything about love.

She only knew about the love that appeared in romance novels.

But in reality, she was ignorant of love.

Whenever she didn’t know anything, she would learn from a book.

However, to treat the books as her teacher so she could learn about love…

“…”

Yelena sat on the garden bench as she pondered over it and soon leaped to her feet.

‘Let’s have a cup of warm tea.’

First of all, she needed something to calm herself down.

If Yelena continued to do this here, she felt like she would go crazy.

Yelena immediately returned to her residence and asked Abbie for tea.

The special tea recommended by the veteran maid, Abbie, had an excellent effect on mental and physical stability.

“Haah…”

Yelena, who was sipping the warm tea, slunk onto the sofa and heaved a long sigh.

It was then that…

“Madam, are you there?”

“Ben?”

Yelena responded curiously to the familiar voice.

She wondered why he was here when she didn’t call for him.

“Come in.”

Ben stepped into Yelena’s quarters.

For a moment, he paused when he saw Abbie serving the tea but soon approached Yelena.

“What’s going on?”

“I’m here to tell you about the alimony.”

“Alimony?”

Yelena blinked.

Hearing the word alimony, she immediately thought she would like to claim compensation for psychological damage from the old woman.

While she momentarily thought about something else, Ben continued to explain.

“I will try to match the amount you desire. If you want, it can be in the form of a certificate of rights at the business. In any case, the Duke gave me instructions to do my best to cooperate with the madam’s request…”

“Wait, wait.”

Yelena cut Ben off.

Belatedly, the word ‘alimony’ that Ben mentioned came into her mind.

“Is the alimony what I think it is? I mean… Will the Duke give me alimony?”

“Oh, the procedure will not be divorce but an annulment. But the alimony is fully paid regardless of the procedure…”

Tak!

Yelena, who abruptly put down the teacup, jumped up.

The bottom of the teacup hit the table and made a loud noise.

Ben’s mouth shut due to the sudden action.

Yelena asked, staring at Ben with a fiery glare, “The Duke… is he in his office right now?”

* * *

Bang!

The door to Duke Mayhard’s office opened noisily.

Noticing Yelena rushing towards him, the Duke waved his hand and sent everyone out of the office.

As soon as the office was empty, Yelena stood before Duke Mayhard’s desk and struck the desk with both hands.

Bang!

It made quite a loud sound.

Duke Mayhard widened his eyes in surprise.

“Wife, your hand…”

“Look at me.”

Yelena drew her husband’s attention away from her hands.

Perhaps he was bothered that she had hit the desk too hard. Duke Mayhard stared at Yelena’s hand before turning to her face.

“You… Are you going to divorce me? Really?”

Duke Mayhard stared at Yelena, who seemed to be furious, and thought she misunderstood something.

So he corrected that misunderstanding.

“It’s not a divorce. It hasn’t been half a year since the ceremony, so we can proceed with the annulment of the marriage. There will be no stain on my wife…”

“Either way! You’re going to kick me out of here anyway!”

Duke Mayhard’s mouth was shut.

Kick her out?

Such a thought had never crossed his mind.

Yelena gnawed at her lower lip.

She had already taken a few deep breaths on her way here.

Nevertheless, her voice continued to tremble.

Yelena continued, tucking her chin in so she wouldn’t tremble or stutter.

“…Why all of a sudden? Why do you want to break up with me all of a sudden?”

“That’s…”

“Did I do something wrong? Is that why you don’t like it?”

What had happened in just one day?

It was ridiculous.

Yelena’s balled her hands into fists.

It had been less than a day since she was happy that she finally gained her husband’s trust and that he believed her enough to tell her a personal story.

‘But what do you mean, divorce?’

It couldn’t be…
