“Do you now understand why I said it would be useless?”

Yelena’s mouth dropped open.

Her lips fluttered as if she was about to say something, but nothing came out in the end.

Chapter 3 – The correct manner to deal with a prolonged battle

Only with love could a warrior be born.

The old woman left those words and suddenly vanished as if she had done her part.

Before the old woman disappeared, Yelena barely grabbed her and asked one question.

“Wait, please at least tell me this. I want to prevent the death of my family… Is there a way?”

Yelena’s family would die before the demons invaded the world.

Her father got sick, and her sister and brother got in a carriage accident.

She wanted to change if she could.

The old woman answered meaningfully. “The roots and pillars of the tree do not shake because of the wind, but the leaves and branches do. You cannot predict the wind.”

It was the old woman’s last words.

After the old woman left, Yelena was stunned for a long time.

“What kind of poet are you?”

Yelena was annoyed.

The old woman was always like that, acting as if she had to speak abstractly. It was almost as if she would get a disease and die if she spoke straightforwardly.

Aimlessly walking in the garden with a complicated mind, Yelena kicked the stone that touched the tip of her foot hard.

“Ah…”

Then she squatted down, groaning.

The stone she kicked in a fit of anger was larger than she thought.

After a moment of grumbling, she sat down on the bench.

Her behavior was so pathetic she couldn’t help but sigh.

But it wasn’t time to sigh or relax.

Firstly, Yelena had to interpret the last words left by the old woman.

‘The roots and pillars of the tree do not shake, but the leaves and branches do.’

If she thought about it calmly, it wasn’t that hard to interpret.

It was all a metaphor for what would happen in the future.

‘Big events happen as they are, but small events can change according to behaviors or circumstances.’

Then the big event could be seen as the destruction of the world due to the invasion of demons, and the small event was the death of Yelena’s family.

In other words, she could alter the fate of her family.

However, right now, Yelena couldn’t do anything about the death of her family in a few years.

As the old woman said, the direction of the wind was unpredictable.

No matter how hard she tried now, it would become useless if things changed then.

‘…Okay, good. I understand it.’

Yelena closed her eyes tightly and then opened them.

Apart from family matters, there was something more significant.

‘What do you mean by love?’

Yelena was overcome with a despondent and unjust feeling. She did not know what to say.

Yelena felt as if she had been swindled.

She thought she just had to marry her husband and have a child.

She thought that would solve everything.

However, love?

“…!”

Yelena could not overcome her frustration with the old woman again and stomped her feet.

In the end, it was like hearing a declaration that everything Yelena had done so far had been in vain.

It was unfair and outrageous.

This must be how it would feel to lose half of one’s fortune after being deceived by plausible words.

“From the beginning, I wish you had just said a warrior would only be born if there is love…”

Souls intertwining.

It was such a vague expression, so of course, Yelena wouldn’t have known what it meant!!

“…Haah.”

Yelena buried her face in both hands.

She felt like her head was going to explode.

After repeatedly hoping and facing minor discouragement, she thought she finally found a clue.

She should build trust with her husband and confide in him.

Then get cooperation from her husband after he learned about the future.

‘I finally had an idea in my head that would save the world by having my husband’s child and by giving birth to a warrior.’

But, it was futile.

It was a meaningless plan from the start.

Yelena had to start again from scratch.

‘What should I do?’
