After a traumatic experience caused by his own mother, Jake Hollander develops a negative outlook on life, people, and even his own family. However, his feelings of abandonment slowly dissipate when he is taken in by his foster family, the Atkins. They show him love and support, changing his perspective on everything. He becomes more open-minded, excels at baseball, and longs for a sense of family. All of his wishes seem to come true. You can find more of my writing on Instagram under the username "writerhalfempty" and also support me on Patreon at "halfempty." One of my works, "The Last Curve," can be found there. It is a fictional short story about a character named Rhys, and any names, faces, or places mentioned are not real. I want to clarify that this is a work of fiction and should not be shared without my permission. While I have used real school names, I am not affiliated with them and my views do not reflect theirs.
