During the time of the Great Liang Dynasty, the people's daily routines were made easier thanks to the invention of steam-powered machines fueled by a precious resource known as Violetstream Gold. Chang Geng, a resident of a small countryside village, had a distant relationship with his mother and stepfather who was often away. His only companions were two young children, the village teacher, and his adoptive father, whom he affectionately called yi fu. However, his world was turned upside down when the barbaric Man tribes invaded, revealing that everything he knew about himself was a lie. Not only was Chang Geng not a simple country boy, but his mother, teacher, and even his beloved yi fu were not who they claimed to be.
