Chapter 110: The Appearance
As a loud bang accompanied an explosion, Sir Guo climbed to the entrance of the cave as he scanned the area carefully. He saw red clouds rising in a spiral manner and his expression changed. “This is bad! That group has called for support!”
Chu Li’s complexion was very pale, but he started laughing.
Sir Guo measured his pulse. “And you are still breathing! You are really a tough young man to withstand this amount of pain!” He commented helplessly.
Chu Li forced out a smile. “All thanks to Elder Sir Guo’s drugs!”
“Hah, that was the only one I had and I’ve run out of it. If you intend to fight once more, I don’t think even God can save you!” Sir Guo imagined the pain and furrowed his brows as he scoffed, “Don’t force yourself!”
“If I die, it’d still be better than allowing them killing the others,” Chu Li said.
“You’re right.” Sir Guo nodded.
He turned to Xiao Shi and said, “Young Xiao Shi, seems like we’ll be dying here!”
Xiao Shi smiled calmly. “Then we’ll die with pride.”
Death is a blessing in disguise. If being alive was this painful and hopeless, it would serve as a relief of sorts.
“Elder Sir Guo, there is always a way,” Chu Li said.
“We already have our backs against the wall figuratively and literally. Do we still have a chance of surviving?” Sir Guo scorned. “Damn Elder Zhao Qingshan and those useless men!”
“We’d already been dead if it weren’t for Elder Zhao Qingshan and the others!” Chu Li said.
Only Grandmasters were able to defeat Grandmasters. If they did not have Zhao Qingshan and the others by their side, maybe they can kill one. However, they could not kill two as they would have perished in that scenario.
“Bang!”
A noise rang in the sky like a thunder strike.
Sir Guo looked up frantically. “It’s our signal! But why is it our signal?”
“Hai Qingshan couldn’t have been that fast?!” Xiao Shi asked.
Chu Li smiled. “It’s the Third Lady!”
Xiao Shi had wits. She understood the point immediately. She glanced a deep gaze at Chu Li. “Seems like you guys have already prepared much earlier!”
If Hai Qingshan had returned to look for Xiao Qi, it would have been impossible to arrive this soon. If they rushed back at that moment, they would have probably met Hai Qingshan halfway somewhere toward their destination.
“I’ve left some distinct trail marks during the trip. Lady Xiao would’ve found us,” Chu Li said.
“I bet third younger sister was already avoiding Lu Yurong.” Xiao Shi nodded and said slowly, “Both of them have fought a few times before so they knew each other quite well. Elder Sir Guo, are you okay over there?”
“I won’t die, to say the least. I’m not doing very well at living either.” Sir Guo stared at Chu Li.
Chu Li did not need others to worry about him. He had the Life and Death Scripture. He was still able to manage himself.
He suddenly revealed a smile. “The Third Lady has arrived!”
Sir Guo rushed to the mouth of the cave and leaned out, looking around. “Where is she?”
A bright, clear sound rang from the sky like a crane let out a cry. A white shadow flew over them.
Sir Guo smiled and said, “It’s really the Third Lady!”
Chu Li let out a long sigh as he felt his weakening body. He clung to the wall of the cave to help him gain strength.
Sir Guo pushed the ivy aside and waved his hand.
A white silhouette flashed at the mouth of the cave, blocking the light to the entrance. A delicate fragrance wafted into the cave. Xiao Qi, who was wearing a white gown, approached them.
“Elder Sir Guo, second elder sister!” Xiao Qi’s stoic face showed the smallest sign of a smile. “Are you guys okay?”
Xiao Shi gently nodded. “I’m fine.”
Xiao Qi’s bright and graceful eyes glanced at Chu Li. Her ethereal presence almost brightened the entire cave. Her thin and long eyebrows furrowed.
“Young Chu is hurt really badly. He needs rest and his martial arts ability is gone,” Sir Guo said.
“As long as he’s alive,” Xiao Qi said.
Chu Li fist saluted as he forced a smile. “Lady Xiao.”
“Let’s go,” Xiao Qi said.
Sir Guo carried Chu Li on his back while Xiao Qi held Xiao Shi. The four of them descended out of the cave and confronted the Grandmasters.
Hai Qingshan hurriedly welcomed Xiao Shi. “Lady Xiao Shi!”
Xiao Shi gently nodded.
Chu Li looked at the twenty innate masters beyond them. Their eyes glowed with fierce, intense glares. All of them had experiences in dozens of fights and were the true elites.
“Hai Qingshan, go and fetch the carriage here!” Xiao Qi said.
Hai Qingshan fist saluted and went immediately.
The carriage quickly arrived. It was the same cabinless carriage.
Xiao Qi assisted Xiao Shi as she entered. As Xiao Shi sat down, she said, “Let Chu Li sit with me.”
Chu Li did not reject the order.
Sir Guo let Chu Li enter the carriage and hopped to the coachman’s seat.
“I’ll go and see how Elder Zhao Qingshan and the others are doing!” Xiao Qi said.
“Lady Xiao, you don’t need to go over,” Chu Li hurriedly suggested.
The battle between a Grandmaster could be likened to that of the recent World War. Weapons would fly and if one was not careful, one could be seriously maimed. Xiao Qi’s martial arts may be at a high level but she was still in the Innate Mastery’s Boundary. It would be dangerous if she went over.
She stared at him and left.
Chu Li helplessly shook his head.
He activated the Omniscient Mirror and saw Xiao Qi ascending the mountain. She did not show any hesitation as she entered the battlefield. She took out her long sword with lightning precision and pierced a red-haired elder. He was Zhao Qingshan’s opponent.
Zhao Qingshan was shocked and exclaimed, “Third Lady!”
This was a fight against the Grandmasters. An Innate Master against them is the same as sending themselves to Death’s door. If anything was to happen to the Third Lady, a hundred deaths from his hands would still not be enough to pay the price.
His opponent showed a disdainful smile and pointed to the air with his finger.
“Tsk!”
With a soft noise, a strike of energy from his finger shot toward Xiao Qi through the air.
Xiao Qi used an uncanny step and leaned forward to avoid the force from her finger. The sharp end of her sword lunged toward the elder.
The elder was shocked by the attack. Xiao Qi’s step technique was unpredictable, but he did not care much. They were not worried about a measly Innate Master. He struck with his palm which clashed with the long sword. He was expecting the long sword to be blown away from her grip.
The sharp end of the sword faced the force of the palm like a fish swimming in a current. The force of the palm sped up the attack speed of the sword. The elder had no time to react.
“Tsk!”
The sword pierced through his palm. She quickly drew back and hid behind Zhao Qingshan.
Zhao Qingshan saw the advantage of the situation and immediately attacked the red-haired elder to prevent him from healing.
It did not matter how good a Grandmaster was as long as he was bleeding, the individual would eventually fall sooner or later. He would have to retreat and look for help. The form of the battlefield would be disrupted.
“Let’s go!” The red-haired elder shouted. The six others retreated with the speed of light and disappeared right in front of everyone’s eyes.
Xiao Qi was afraid that they would attack Chu Li and the others. “Let’s go back quickly!” she said.
Zhao Qingshan and the other six hastened back to check on everyone. They saw everyone was doing fine and let out a long sigh of relief. If Xiao Qi had not moved with the other subordinates to help, they could only imagine the devastating results.
—————–
Everyone continued with their journey. Shortly after, they arrived at a small town. They got two carriages – one for Xiao Shi and another for Chu Li.
Chu Li was resting in the carriage. The carriage shook as the spiritual force from the surroundings entered his body in a constant ebb, nourishing his body and mitigating damage to his body. His internal injuries were serious as he felt pain even from the slightest twitch.
The Life and Death Scripture was very useful. He clearly saw how his wounds have recovered and his meridian was getting stronger.
While he was bored, a thought came into his mind; two birds with one stone. While he was receiving the spiritual force that nourished his body, he visualized the Art of White Tiger where an invisible force entered and strengthened his body.
The spiritual force of the Life and Death Scripture was like wine and the force of the Art of White Tiger was like medicine. The two of them merged, multiplying its effects.
His energy was used up surprisingly fast. When he felt tired, he stopped visualizing. He realized that his wounds had recovered significantly. The effects were far stronger than what he expected.
With a method like that, he was confident that he just needed six to seven days to completely recover from his wounds.
He suddenly had another bright idea and he activated the Sentient Menace.
