But right now, she had limited funds. Renting another storage space meant she would have to spend another large number of money. At the end of this month, she still had to pay Lawyer Li the rest of the attorney fee. She could only accumulate money and pay the attorney fee first before thinking about getting another storage space.

Liu Man and Yu Zhan went to a real estate agency near Capital University.

Liu Man was now half a celebrity, and the agents naturally recognized her. They did not dare to waste her time and picked out a few good ones from their pile of available real estates, and they quickly led the duo over to check out the houses.

Liu Man also had a straightforward personality. She soon picked one with two rooms.

This house was right outside Capital University, so it was very convenient for her to enter and exit the school. The initial owner of the house was a teacher at Capital University who was going to stay abroad long-termed as a visiting scholar, and he decided to let someone rent it.

This teacher was single, and out of the two rooms, one was a bedroom and another was a study. There was a very large desk in the study, and tall bookshelves surrounded the desk. The bookshelves were full of books. The agent said that this teacher could not bring all the books with him to another country, so his only requirement for his client was to be a book lover. He wanted his client to treat his books well.

Liu Man liked his study, and she loved his books, too. This was a reason that contributed to her choosing this house.

The agent immediately called the landlord, asking him to come and sign the contract.

The landlord asked who the client was in the call, and he wanted to know more about her. The agent had only said “Hanfu Goddess”, and the landlord immediately hung up and dashed here.

This teacher had the same last name as Zhang Pei. He was a young male teacher who was just a bit more than thirty-years-old. He wore a pair of glasses and looked very courteous. When he saw Liu Man, his tiny eyes behind his glasses seemed to be glowing.

Everyone in Capital University knew their school was about to welcome the most dominating student who used the backdoor, and no one even objected to her entrance. Everyone was looking forward to her arrival.

Mr. Zhang felt very excited, “I teach the Chinese major on literature in other countries. When I was in college before, Professor Su taught me too. I had just dropped a like on the post he sent on Wei Bo supporting you, and I didn’t expect to see you in person today. Unfortunately, I have to go abroad soon, and I won’t be able to teach you.”

“I will be staying at Capital University for the next two years, so you’ll have a chance.”

Mr. Zhang’s enthusiasm influenced Liu Man. She felt the teachers and students at Capital University were more amiable than the people at Capital Music University.

Many clients had wanted to rent this house before. Mr. Zhang had meetings with them, but none of them satisfied him. He could tell, just by seeing some of their temperaments, that they wouldn’t be treating his collection of books well. He would rather not earn this money than letting these strangers rent his house.

“Do you want to rent my house for two years?” Mr. Zhang asked.

Liu Man nodded, “If it’s okay, I surely want to rent it until I graduate.”

To be fair, Mr. Zhang’s visiting scholarship would be ending in one year, but he said, “All right, you can rent my house for two years. I will offer you a cheaper price every month; 7,000 RMB will be all right.”

He told the agency that his price was 9,500 RMB per month.

Initially, Liu Man wanted to negotiate with him and cut 500 RMB off. She didn’t expect Mr. Zhang to be such a generous person, and she was very grateful. She immediately signed the contract with him.

Mr. Zhang requested her to hand in the rent every six months, and the mortgage was twice the amount of the rent, which was 14,000 RMB. Liu Man had to give Mr. Zhang 56,000 RMB today all at once.

TL’s Note: (Half a year of rent + the mortgage = 56,000 RMB)

Of course, Liu Man could pay off this money. For now, she only had 60,000 in her hands.

However, they still owed Lawyer Li 150,000 RMB as part of the attorney fee.

The attorney fee was 300,000 in total. The first half was 150,000. At the end of last month, Liu Man had already paid Lawyer Li’s bank account that amount. She had already told Lawyer Li that she would quickly pay him the second half once Liu Chenyu gets out successfully. Things like payments should not be dragged on for too long, for it was easy to make the people you owe your enemy.

Today, if she paid more than 50,000 all at once, Liu Man was not sure if she could successfully accumulate 150,000 this month. After all, she still had to pay the storage space rent, money to the bank, money to Manager Huang, money to the storage space employees, and all kinds of other fees.

How could people who do business have so many movable funds in their hands all at once?

It was why Zhang Pei blamed Liu Chenyu for not understanding how much blood and sweat Liu Man paid for his one bottle of wine.

Seeing the notification from Paypal, reminding her that she had successfully transferred 56,000 RMB, Liu Man’s heartfelt empty even though this should be a happy thing.

Because from now on, she no longer had to return to her home. The only reason why she missed it was Zhang Pei.

But she also would stop reporting to Zhang Pei about any money she earned from now on. She had to keep her guards up because of Liu Chenyu. Liu Chenyu didn’t trust her, so she wouldn’t trust Liu Chenyu either.

Mr. Zhang said, “You can move in today with your luggage,” he looked at the man, accompanying Liu Man, who had not talked at all from start to end, and he smiled, “Let your boyfriend do a little work and help you move.”

Yu Zhan didn’t expect Liu Man to want to move out in such a hurry. She seemed to be very reluctant to stay at home.

On their way home to take her luggage, Yu Zhan asked her about the conflict between her and her father. From how Zhang Pei treated her daughter, their family seemed to be very peaceful. Besides, didn’t she hope her father could get released sooner in the past?

Liu Man said in a soft voice, “My dad doesn’t like me.”

Hope was one thing, but the reality was something else. Liu Chenyu couldn’t accept her, and Liu Man had no other way but to evade.

Hearing these words, Yu Zhan could not ask any further.

In Yu Zhan’s memory, he had a blissful childhood. His parents loved him. However, he knew that not everyone in this world was as lucky as him.

He then recalled how Liu Man’s father drove after drinking, causing her and her mother to have to work hard. He felt even more that this father was not being responsible.

When Liu Man returned, Zhang Pei and Liu Chenyu weren’t home. At this time, Zhang Pei must be busy in the storage room.

Liu Man took out her huge luggage from the bottom layer of her closet, but she didn’t put in any clothes or shoes. She first put in all of the Daylight and Moonlight’s pet supplies before putting Professor Su’s Three Hundred Tang Poems and Selected Song Poems and Yuan Songs along with her just-bought English materials on top of the supplies.

The clothes and shoes in the closet belonged to the previous owner of her body. Excluding the clothes she was currently wearing, she did not take any other clothes.

Yu Zhan waited in his car for around half an hour before seeing Liu Man walking this way with a Guqin on her back, holding a piece of large luggage in one hand and a pet box in the other.

Daylight and Moonlight, the two fat kitties, squeezed together in the pet box and peeked outside as if they were being mistreated.

Yu Zhan immediately welcomed her by taking over her bag and pet box, “I will carry your instrument.”

“It’s fine; just help me hold the pet box.”

As soon as they got into the car, Yu Zhan put Daylight and Moonlight onto the back seats so they could have some air. He then put Liu Man’s luggage and instrument into the trunk before asking Liu Man, “When are we coming back to get the second part of your things?”

“These are all my belongings.”
