Ruan Jiu Jiu had a nightmare.

In her dreams, Xu Bi Ying choked her. She couldn’t breathe and her lungs hurt. Ruan Jiu Jiu struggled fruitlessly. She then heard Xu Bi Ying scream in her ears, “Give me back my love! Give me back my childhood friend! Give! Him! Back!”

Ruan Jiu Jiu snapped awake and found herself soaked in sweat.

She still felt like she was being choked. Ruan Jiu Jiu was dumbstruck and felt around her throat. She discovered that she had probably tossed and turned too much last night. The small towel she placed on her pillow had twisted around her neck. No wonder she couldn’t breath in her dreams.

Ruan Jiu Jiu: “…”

Really, could she be any dumber?

It was raining outside with a light pitter patter. Dried, fallen leaves had been trampled in the mud. The scenery made one feel a little downtrodden.

Ruan Jiu Jiu took a shower. The house was quiet and there wasn’t anyone else at home. Cheng Jun probably went out. A few slices of bread were missing from the fridge and a milk carton was gone. On the days when Ruan Jiu Jiu didn’t get up early enough, he made do just like that.

Ruan Jiu Jiu was a little bewildered. Did a shut-in need to rise so early?

He could get up early and go to sleep on time, yet his diet was in shambles. The guy was a strange creature.

With nothing to do, Ruan Jiu Jiu logged on.

The guildies were chatting, laughing, and bantering. When Ruan Jiu Jiu logged on, the chat immediately turned into a bird’s nest.

“Jiu Jiu Jiu!”

“Jiu Jiu Jiu!”

“Jiu Jiu Jiu!”

Jiu Jiu Jiu: … soon I’m not going to even recognize my name anymore

She went through her inbox and discovered a friend request from Reminiscence of the Past.

Ruan Jiu Jiu: “…”

How’d this guy suddenly decide to latch on to her?

She firmly declined and continued gaming as if nothing had happened. White Dragon Horse and the others from yesterday were all here. They enthusiastically brought Ruan Jiu Jiu along to do quests. With higher level players carrying, Ruan Jiu Jiu quickly leveled up. The mood was very cheerful.

They chatted about everything. Some people asked how old she was, to which she replied that she was self-employed and emphasized that she was already married.

White Dragon Horse:

Jiujiu~ wanna turn on your mic? It’ll be easier to talk

Ruan Jiu Jiu didn’t want to reveal too much about herself and dodged the question. She just said her voice didn’t sound good.

Just as she was declining, suddenly a soft, delicate voice chimed in. “What are you chatting about?”

Ruan Jiu Jiu looked at the IGN “Light Breeze Bi Ying” and her eyelid twitched. This was the original female lead Xu Bi Ying.

Xu Bi Ying seemed hostile towards her. She kept trying to convince Ruan Jiu Jiu to voice chat and wanted to find out who she really was. Ruan Jiu Jiu was a little annoyed by her attacks. But she was also amused by all the guild members and didn’t want to quit the guild.

At this time, Ruan Jiu Jiu had some regrets. If she had played as a male character she wouldn’t encounter this much trouble.

Some of the guildies tried to protect Ruan Jiu Jiu from the onslaught but Xu Bi Ying’s friends weren’t easy to deal with and assisted Xu Bi Ying.

Ruan Jiu Jiu suddenly had a moment of clarity.

Did Xu Bi Ying see her IGN… and connect it to

her? Xu Bi Ying probably had a distaste for anything to do with Cheng Jun.

Gaming was meant to be fun. Ruan Jiu Jiu added a few people as friends, happily quit the guild, and then logged off.

She didn’t want to get entangled with the female lead.

Ruan Jiu Jiu looked at the time. Cheng Jun still hadn’t returned and it was getting late.

The rain started pouring. She didn’t think that Cheng Jun had a habit of carrying an umbrella. Should she give him a call?

Ring ring.

Her phone suddenly sounded. She thought it was a call from Cheng Jun. Yet when she saw the caller ID, she noticed it was from his stepmom Qu Wei. She knew that any call from that woman wasn’t good news. She planned to chuck the phone onto the bed and let it go to voicemail, but the ringing suddenly stopped.

Ruan Jiu Jiu: “Ehhhh?”

It wasn’t like his stepmom to give in so quick.

Just as she was wondering, a text popped up from the woman.

[Either you come down or I come up. Pick one.]

This tone was a bit like something from one of those domineering CEOs.

Ruan Jiu Jiu didn’t know that the stepmom was just showing a false bravado. Qu Wei dared to steal Cheng Jun’s stock but didn’t dare enter the building. It was very clear in her heart that this was Cheng Jun’s bottom line. Qu Wei wasn’t dumb. She wouldn’t be so dumb as to anger him.

In her eyes, Cheng Jun was an heir with nothing to his name. But even an angered rabbit would bite. Cheng Jun was a biological son. She couldn’t be too reckless at critical moments.

Ruan Jiu Jiu sighed.

Qu Wei was definitely here to give an ultimatum. Their cushy lifestyle was bound to come to an end.

She channeled her inner warrior and grabbed a jacket before heading down. A BMW was parked outside the apartment complex. Qu Wei was standing on the steps of the building, hiding from the rain.

Ruan Qiu Qiu said, “I really didn’t think you’d get out from the car.” In dramas, didn’t a person like her always have to enter the car during negotiations?

Qu Wei took off her sunglasses. Her expression was cold. “I was afraid that you’d dirty my car.”

Ruan Jiu Jiu choked on her words and immediately retorted, “I was afraid you’d hurt your old bones.”

Qu Wei nearly snapped her sunglasses in half.

Qu Wei vs. Ruan Jiu Jiu.

Qu Wei, K.O.

Qu Wei took a step forward, trying to suppress Ruan Jiu Jiu with her aura. “What other tricks are you trying to play? I think I’ve already made myself clear.”

Ruan Jiu Jiu earnestly took a subservient tone. “If I don’t want to divorce, what are you going to do to me?”

“Do to you?”

She gave a cold smile. “I’ll freeze your bank account and leave you with no road to walk. I have my ways of making you divorce. You think I need your help? It’s just that it was the easiest method. But I’m not afraid of slight inconveniences.”

… Mhm, she was indeed a ruthless character.

Ruan Jiu Jiu wasn’t the least interested in other people’s business. However much money there was and who it went to was of no concern to her.

Ruan Jiu Jiu wasn’t like female leads in those novels, with their trove of martial arts skills, or their abilities to maneuver high society or deal with harem intrigue. In her past life, she was only a normal person from a moderately well-off family. She didn’t understand anything about family power struggles, so she didn’t go out of her way to handle matters.

It’s just that Cheng Jun would likely suffer soon. He didn’t seem to be a hard worker. No matter how she looked at it, he was destined for a life on the streets.

Ruan Jiu Jiu said, “Then I’ll have to ask you for another three million. These are my conditions.”

This was the only thing she could do.

Dragging the matter would make Qu Wei panic. Of course, with that Ruan Jiu Jiu could also get more money out of her. There would be the three million RMB plus the two houses, with one of them going to Cheng Jun. If he wasn’t wasteful, he wouldn’t have to worry about putting food on the plate for his whole life. This was the only way she could repay him.

In Qu Wei’s eyes, Ruan Jiu Jiu’s calm demeanor could be called brazen and shameless.

She poked fun at her. “And here I thought you changed as a person. But after all this while, it’s still come down to money.”

Ruan Jiu Jiu said, “And? Let’s cut to the chase.”

Qu Wei, “Deal.”

The rain fell to the ground, making a pitter patter sound. The air was humid. A black figure was standing behind the corner of the building. He clearly heard everything that had been said.

His clothes were drenched from the rain, and his black hair was soaked with water. Droplets dripped off the ends of his hair and seeped into his rain-soaked clothes.

His black sweatshirt was completely soaked through, and it felt like it weighed a ton.

His skin was fair yet it stood out all the more against his pair of slender almond eyes. His pupils were black as ink, yet they seemed a little lost and absent-minded.

Only when he heard the word “deal” did his eyes blink.

……

Ruan Jiu Jiu returned back home and shed her jacket. Not long after she came back, a rain-soaked Cheng Jun silently came back and closed the door behind him.

As expected, he didn’t bring an umbrella.

Ruan Jiu Jiu grabbed a towel and handed it to him. “Didn’t I put an umbrella near the doorway? Why didn’t you bring it when you went out?”

He slowly looked up and glanced at Ruan Jiu Jiu. It made Ruan Jiu Jiu think of the first time they met. His gaze was unfamiliar, and it was like he was looking at a stranger.

Cheng Jun didn’t take the towel and headed to the study.

Ruan Jiu Jiu: “??”

Did this glutton just give her the cold shoulder?

She gloomily turned on the stove and started cooking. The door to the study was closed all the while. The food Ruan Jiu Jiu cooked for him had turned cold, and he still hadn’t come out.

Ruan Jiu Jiu was at a loss when it came to this silent treatment. She put a lid on the food and didn’t bother to pick a fight with Cheng Jun. She returned to her room and logged on. Once she logged on, she saw a lot of people ask why she quit the guild. One of those people was Reminiscence of the Past.

Reminiscence of the Past: Is it because of Bi Ying? Sorry. It’s probably brought you unhappiness.

White Dragon Horse: Jiujiu come back~ let’s play together QAQ

I’m Ye Liang Chen: Light Breeze Bi Ying is just like that, don’t mind too much. All the girls in the guild are already used to it. When you’re online we’ll help you out

Just when Ruan Jiu Jiu was listening to all the explanations, she heard a thud, as if something heavy fell to the floor. She jumped in fright.

She quickly ran out and opened the lights. Cheng Jun had fallen to the floor. He seemed to be half-conscious. Water and white medicine tablets were spilled all over the floor. His cup had also shattered.

Ruan Jiu Jiu put a hand on his forehead. It was shockingly hot.

“My God, how’d it get this bad?”

Only

Ruan Jiu Jiu was frightened.

“You could fry an egg with this temperature!”

Cheng Jun, who had just been half conscious, suddenly opened his eyes and said, “Fry an egg?”

Ruan Jiu Jiu: “…”

She was moved by this sort of glutinous mind that didn’t care for life or death.

Author’s Note: Cheng Jun: Why is my fever this bad?

Ruan Jiu Jiu: … Why are you looking at me?!

How could I torture you guys with angst. Hahahaha you guys think too much, don’t worry. *gives candy*
