“That works, you two can check on your own later on.” Shu Yan handed them the pay that she had prepared ahead of time and gave them each a red envelope on top of that. “Thank you for all of your hard work during the grand opening last month. This is the bonus. Work hard and work toward more pay.”

“Thank you, Boss.” The two of them took the red envelope and were happy like it was new year.

Inside each of the red envelope was 100 yuan. Shu Yan wasn’t being particularly generous, but it was very rough last month and both of them had came in at 7 AM voluntarily and worked till 9 PM with no breaks. Shu Yan was more than happy to give them the red envelope.

Zhang Huaxiu went out for lunch. Yingying pulled out her pay from that morning, kept 104 yuan herself and handed the commission and bonus to Shu Yan. “Boss, you can just give me my base pay from now on. I’ll keep the rest with you.”

“I’m sorry. We only sell at listed price. We don’t do bartering. If you friend has a membership card, we can give you a discount.” Shu Yan was very firm when it came to giving discounts. Certainly, she had lost some customers because of that but it had also brought up the standing of the shop in a way and give people a boutique, classy feel.

And then there were those who didn’t know how to barter and were always taken advantage of when they went to the market. They had to pay 20 yuan or sometimes even higher for what others could get for 10. These individuals would rather come to a shop with their prices clearly listed. Surely, the shop was still making money off of them, but it felt much better when everybody paid the same amount.

Shu Yan had gained many of these type of customers over time. They’d make purchases with alacrity. But there would always be new customers who’d try.

“$30 then. $30, and I will take 4 sets.”

“I’m sorry. We really don’t do bartering here,” said Shu Yan with a smile. She couldn’t start this trend. She could offer discounts but not lowering the price.

The woman tossed the clothes down angrily and walked away. “Never mind then. Is that how you do business?”

She thought Shu Yan would stop her but Shu Yan let her walked all the way out.

Many of the returned customers chuckled. They have already witnessed this a few times. Problem was they really didn’t barter here. All of a sudden, they felt classier about themselves being able to shop here.

“Boss Shu, here’s your fall tops and pants.” Lao Zhang came to deliver the merchandizes but did not leave immediately like he usually did. He rubbed his hands together and, seemingly a bit embarrassed, asked, ‘Boss Shu, I want to talk to you about something. Do you have a few minutes?”

Shu Yan took a look at the customers in the shop, gave Zhang Huaxiu a heads up, went over to a place where the two of them could sit down, and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“Can you let my factory mass produce this fall tops and pant?” Lao Zhang felt that Shu Yan would for sure lose money on her fall sets. As it turned out, Shu Yan had been ordering 100 ~ 200 sets a day and this time she asked for 500 sets total. It was obvious that they were very popular. He had done some research himself and discovered that Shu Yan’s set of fall clothing provided for young girls exactly what they wanted. They didn’t care that it was not as warm. Besides, as they were more form fitting, it was still quite good at keeping one warm.

“I can not sell them to any customers in City Nan. I will only sell them to other provinces. It should affect you any.” Seeing that Shu Yan had remained silent, he quickly added.
