Chapter 34: To Kill Luo Kun
“Good, in that case, you’re one of us now!” Yun Sheng quickly added. “As for the miscellaneous stuff, such as your identification cards and all, we’ll be sending them shortly!”
“Didn’t you mention that you have wiped out one of the bases of Hellfire?” asked Lu Xuan, who suddenly recalled that incident.
“That is right!”
Yun Sheng nodded. “At first, we had only planned to alarm them with our attack, scaring the snake out of its hiding bush. We initially wanted to force Higashigawa Taro and co to show themselves, but who would have imagined him to be taken out by a single blow from Mr. Lu? We miscalculated!”
Lu Xuan smiled politely but said nothing. The martial prowess of Higashigawa Taro was indeed masterful; he couldn’t have severely injured Lin Sheng with a single blade slice otherwise. However, he was still worlds apart from a martial arts legend.
Do not belittle the seemingly innocuous half-step difference. Many a time, this difference of half a step meant a disparity between heaven and earth.
Moreover, Lu Xuan was so strong that he could have easily defeated a regular martial arts legend. He was a cultivator unlike anyone had ever seen before.
“After tonight’s incident, the Hellfire organization will suffer immense losses within Huaxia. That should silence them for quite a while. However, we must not belittle them, for things can always take a turn for the worse. I will station some men with the Lings. That way, we won’t be caught off-guard even if Hellfire returns for a sudden attack!” Yun Sheng added.
“I guess that this will finally blow over after Old Ling’s done with that project!”
“Yeah, that’s good to hear!” Lu Xuan nodded. “I’ll leave the clean up in your hands then. Contact me only if it’s something you can’t handle on your own!”
A good while after Lu Xuan left, the square-faced fatso finally recovered as he turned to Yun Sheng in sheer disbelief. “Chief, that’s it?”
Yun Sheng glanced briefly at the square-faced fatso and teased, “What else? Would you like him to sign a labor contract?
“Also, just what nonsense were you spouting just now? Did you think that you could entice such a powerhouse to join us with on-job perks like work insurance and other funds? You are embarrassing the entire Agency of Special Affairs!”
Upon recalling the stunt that the square-faced fatso had just pulled off, Yun Sheng was both exasperated and amused.
However, he let it go, knowing full well of that lad’s longings for job insurance and funds. Speaking of which, he was the one who sort of tricked him in the first place. He had recruited the square-faced fatso into the Agency without any on-job insurance and funds.
That was the time when the Agency was starting out, where they were considered officially open just by hanging a doorplate. They did not have much to offer back then.
The square-faced fatso smiled, slightly bashful. He didn’t dare to tell Yun Sheng that he had even considered kneeling and calling him “daddy.” If he did, Yun Sheng would probably beat him to death.
“Hehe. But we’ve managed to snag quite a big catch this time! In the upcoming provincial meeting with the other Chiefs, I’ll finally have something to boast in their faces!” Yun Sheng seemed to have thought of something. “Don’t you remember how smug Geezer Fang was when he recruited a Baodan Grandmaster for the Agency? This time, lo and behold, I have gotten us a stage six martial arts legend!”
Yun Sheng could already imagine just how gloomy that bald git who’s always trying to win him would be after hearing the news. Even the mere thought of it gives him such a kick.
“You should leave right away. Send someone to protect Lu Xuan’s parents, and don’t mess anything up!” Yun Sheng quickly instructed.
“Yes, Sir!”
The square-faced fatso quickly rogered the order. Despite how he looked, he had never slipped up on serious business.
On the other side, Lu Xuan had returned to his room. On the phone that he had not checked for long, there was a message notification from WeChat.
“You there?”
The sender of that message was none other than Lin Miaoyi.
Lu Xuan picked up his cellphone and replied.
“Ehn!”
“I hope that the Luos did not mess with you again!”
Lu Xuan wrote back, “Not for the time being, I think!”
“That’s good!”
Lin Miaoyi disappeared again after leaving that one message, in line with her usual cold and aloof demeanor.
Thanks to Lin Miaoyi’s reminder, Lu Xuan quickly remembered another trouble aside from Hellfire. After today, the matter of the Ling family could be put aside for the time being.
After all, Hellfire had suffered significant losses in this operation. Even if they tried to bring together an assassin organization of the same size, it would be difficult, to say the least.
Besides, the Agency of Special Affairs was no chump as well.
Also, the project would have been finalized in a couple more days. When that time came, the Japanese conglomerate would be likely to cease all activities as well.
While Lu Xuan could not say for sure if there would be any aftermath, from the looks of it, this should be the end of the entire affair.
However, another problem had resurfaced in front of Lu Xuan. It was Luo Kun, plus the Luo family behind that man.
The existence of his family. That was one of the most significant reasons why Lu Xuan decided to join the Agency of Special Affairs.
If he had been alone, he could have taken on the world all by himself. Who else could stand up against him if he cared for hardly anyone in the world?
That was how he used to live. In his past life, he was like a lone wolf.
However, things had changed. Lu Xuan now had a family that he needed to protect and worry about, and he could not tolerate anyone posing a threat of any kind to them.
“In that case, I might as well strike first!” Lu Xuan said icily. It seemed like Lin Miaoyi’s threat against Luo Kun had worked for the moment and that Luo Kun had temporarily withdrawn his claws.
However, from Lu Xuan’s understanding of that man, it would not be long before Luo Kun resumed to his old ways. Instead of waiting for him to pounce on him, it might be wiser to make the first strike.
He who strikes first prevails, while he who strikes late fails!
Lu Xuan had not a drop of mercy to spare for the enemy who had torn his family apart in his past life.
Lu Xuan immediately changed into an all-black outfit and slipped on a black trench coat. With his slender figure, he looked like a dark knight of the night.
2After forbidding the servants to disturb him, he quickly scaled over the gates and left the Ling Manor. Even at that hour, many of the servants were still cleaning up the wreckage from the great battle. As for the bodies and remains, they were taken care of by the military.
Lu Xuan strode with his long, powerful-looking legs and covered distances like a gust of swift wind. Soon, he had entered the city area, with speed comparable to a car.
He even bought a black mask along the way. Now, from head to toe, he looked just like a dark knight.
3Lu Xuan quickly stopped in front of a district of bungalows.
Lu Xuan was a little out of breath, but he quickly smoothened his breathing. Climbing over the wall, he made it in easily.
His target was a bungalow from this district.
Lu Xuan knew that Luo Kun must be staying in one of the villas of this neighborhood.
In his past life, he had gathered a lot of intel all for the sake of revenge. Therefore, he knew that Luo Kun would be hiding in one of the bungalows in this area during this specific period.
Lu Xuan was almost looking forward to Luo Kun’s expression when he saw him later.
When Lu Xuan arrived near the detached bungalow that Luo Kun was staying at, as expected, he found some hidden guards littered along the perimeter.
Any other ordinary human would not discover them if they walked straight in.
However, they could not hide from Lu Xuan’s senses. Waltzing into the bungalow, Lu Xuan took down the hidden guards, one slap at a time. Before they could even react, Lu Xuan had already ended their lives.
3They could not even relay a warning.
Lu Xuan slowly approached the brightly lit bungalow. He then saw two bodies, white and naked, intertwining in heated passion.
