Chapter 87 – He thought she was pretty because she was his mom (2)

The hallway was softly lit by a few wall lights. Song Tingshen was wearing ordinary house clothing, but he was still standing very straight with his hands tucked into his pockets. He was very tall, but he wasn’t the beanpole type. Even at a quick glance, she could see that he was very masculine. And, when he was wearing a suit instead, he was bursting with pheromones. His looks fell into the category of Ruan Xia’s type. Right now, he was wearing gold-framed glasses, perfectly making his temperament seem more refined.

A phrase suddenly popped up in Ruan Xia’s mind: a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

It was a very colorful phrase, but it seemed especially suitable for him.

“Why are you still awake?” Song Tingshen asked. It was hard to hide the fatigue on his face.

“I couldn’t fall asleep. I’m going to get a warm cup of milk.” For some unknown reason, Ruan Xia found herself asking, “Do you want a cup?”

Song Tingshen nodded. “Okay, thank you.”

The two people walked down the stairs in single file. At this time, the ground floor was very quiet. The housekeeper aunty had gone to bed a long time ago.

It only took a few minutes to make two cups of fragrant and sweet milk. Ruan Xia handed Song Tingshen a cup. Leaning against the table and standing opposite of each other, they drank the cups of milk they were holding.

Probably because the water she had used to dissolve the milk powder was a little too hot, Ruan Xia was sweating after finishing the cup of milk.

She was wearing a knee-length nightgown with her long hair casually tied up. She wasn’t wearing slippers and was lazily leaning on the side of the table.

“I’m going back to my room to sleep.” Ruan Xia thought it over before adding, “Could you carry Little Wang back to your room to sleep? I’ll probably suffer from insomnia tonight and won’t be able to wake up early tomorrow.”

“Okay.”

After washing the two cups, Song Tingshen followed Ruan Xia to her room.

Little Wang was already deeply asleep and snoring. Song Tingshen carefully picked up Little Wang. With his big palm supporting Little Wang’s back, he carried him to his room.

Once a little kid was asleep, not even thunder could wake him or her up.

Little Wang was slightly snoring, and his little belly was moving up and down. There was the scent of milk on his body. Song Tingshen sat on the edge of the bed and watched his son for a long time. People said there was a high probability that a daughter would take after her dad in looks, and a son would take after his mom. This held true for their family. Little Wang’s facial features took after Ruan Xia’s looks more.

The feelings a father had for his child started the moment the child was born. At the very least, that’s when it happened for Song Tingshen. In the moment that he picked up his newborn son, he was at a loss. His originally empty heart was slowly filled up by his son.

Actually, when Little Wang was born, Song Tingshen had the idea of having a happy family life with Ruan Xia. After all, it was hard to not be moved after watching a woman carrying your baby for ten months and then going through the pain of childbirth. Song Tingshen, who had lost his parents when he was young, wanted a family more than anyone else.

However, it was obvious that Ruan Xia didn’t feel the same way as him. Or to put it another way, she was already living the life that she wanted, so other things weren’t important to her. She wasn’t willing to be close to their child and would never take the initiative of hugging Little Wang. From the start, the only thing that connected them was their son. As a result, as time went on, they settled into treating each other like strangers.

Even Song Tingshen didn’t know if Ruan Xia’s change had come too late.
