Chapter 84 – Otherwise, she wouldn’t have purposefully filmed and released that family clip (3)

And then, with a “SNAP”, the chandelier in the living room was turned on.

Zhang Xiying thought he was properly still napping. She hadn’t expected to see him sitting alone on the couch when the light came on. Startled, she asked, “What are you thinking about? Why didn’t you turn the light on?”

She walked over to him and put down the bags in her hand. “I brought home some takeout. Join me in having some?”

It wasn’t always that they were home together. Being too busy to cook, most of the time they just have takeout instead.

Granted, there was nobody else there living with them. And they were gone so frequently that there was no reason to hire a cook. Even the nanny who cleaned for them only came in the daytime and returned home at night.

Meng Yan nodded.

Tthe two of them walked toward the dining room.

With the light on and another person in the house, the place seemed a lot less desolate.

Eating the lukewarm food, Meng Yan thought about the days when there were always steaming hot food on the table waiting for him…

Plus, there were two children at home.

One way or another, a home is livelier with kids.

Meng Yan had no idea how he came to that conclusion, but he suddenly heard himself asking, “Xiying, should we plan to have a kid?”

What he said was very abrupt.

That very moment, even Zhang Xiying’s chopsticks froze in midair.

“Now? Isn’t that a bit early in time?”

She mumbled, “I haven’t really given it too much thought yet…”

She didn’t have the time to have kids right now.

As an actress, having a kid meant being away from the media between 6 months to a year.

And audiences are forgetful.

She’d never regain the kind of resources that she has right now as a “outdated” actress.

There was simply no way she’d give up what she has currently!

“I mean, I’m just saying…”

Meng Yan felt an indescribable feeling of being at loss that he couldn’t shake.

The next day, Gu Chengyi walked out with a bucket and his fishing gear.

Seeing that Lin Yiyi was setting the table with lunch that she had just prepared, he teased, “Yiyi is now the chef of this house that’s responsible for our three meals a day.”

Lin Yiyi looked him up and down and also teased, “Are you planning on sneaking out? Are you not worried about mom grumbling again?”

Ms. Lin Ping worried about him going fishing along. No matter what he said or how he reassured her that he was with a friend, nothing could convince her. So, he resorted to sneaking out every time.

Unfortunately, he was caught every time he came home.

It was as though they were playing hide and seek all the time; yet neither one of them ever grew tired of the game.

Mr. Gu took his hat off and sat down at the dinner table. “Your mom is blowing this out of proportion.”

He might be saying that, but his look was that of pride.

He felt that that’s how Ms. Lin Ping showed her love for him.

Even though she lectured him like she was lecturing her grandkids every time…

“Yiyi, if you are free in the afternoon, why don’t you come with me?”

Ms. Lin Ping didn’t care for this particular activity.

The few times that she tagged along, she was so bored that she just played mobile games on her phone the entire time. In fact, she had the volume so loud that it had scared away all his fish.

Mr. Gu had never invited her again after that.

Why put both of them in a situation that neither one of them wanted to be in…

Right then, both Meng Yuran and Meng Shanshan were also coming down the stairs.

As soon as the two of them heard Mr. Gu’s invitation, they didn’t wait for Lin Yiyi to respond before they said, “Mom, you should go. You don’t do much around the house anyway. You should get out some.”

Meng Yuran was a little donut.

He recalled all the gossip on the internet just a while back. He did notice his mother pretended that she wasn’t aware of what was going on, but it was trouble that came unwanted. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have purposefully filmed and released that family clip.

Thinking of that, he patted his sister on her head and said, “Plus, little sister was just whining about going out. You can walk her at the same time.”

Meng Shanshan pouted. She had just opened her mouth and wanted to rebut her brother when a cotton candy was shoved into her mouth, “!!!!”

Chewing…

Mmm, that was tasty!
