He actually knew what she was thinking!
That was terrifying!
Yan Beicheng was gazing her in such a way, it really did gave her an immense amount of pressure. Lin Chu then took advantage of when Nan Jingheng was still talking and switched the topic, she then smiled at Nan Jingheng and said, “Come by when you’re free.”
Nan Jingheng was about to happily agree when Yan Beicheng interrupted him. “What actually happened, can you specify?”
“Cough.” Somehow, Nan Jingheng felt a bit embarrassed. He then looked at Yan Beicheng and Lin Chu with a guilty look. “We’re quite well-informed in Nan Yin. There’s always a method. For example, in various mainstream media, there are several revolutionary comrades we have good relations with.”
“Just say that you have a snitch in each other’s companies, no need to act so pure-hearted,” Yan Beicheng said and sneered.
Nan Jingheng, “…”
He came here to give him information, yet Yan Beicheng did not give him face. How suffocating!
Nan Jingheng then gave up and dropped the act and said, “Yes, my snitch told me. They said they’ve received a call there, and asked a reporter named Zhu Hexuan to follow up.”
As he talked, he then swallowed a mouthful of water down his throat. If there were any alcohol, he would have drunk a mouthful of that too.
“I checked, and the reporter was a member of a regular Water Army (TN: Author used the word 水军 which meant Water Army. On the Internet in China, an Internet Water Army or Wangluo Shuijun 网络水军 is a group of Internet ghostwriters paid to post online comments with particular content. Internet water armies were born in the early 2010s.) that several companies are using.” Nan Jingheng put his cup down, his left-hand index finger and thumb tapped on the table twice and smiled. “Try and guess, what companies are there?”
Yan Beicheng snorted. “There’s Xing Chuang in it, right?”
Nan Jingheng, “…”
It was really boring talking to him, there was no sense of accomplishment at all.
“Alright, I got it. Do help me take note as well next time.” Yan Beicheng patted Nan Jingheng on his shoulder.
Nan Jingheng glared at him. “I’m not your snitch.”
“But, you have one, isn’t it? It’s a waste if you don’t use them,” Yan Beicheng said amiably and passed a piece of shrimp to Nan Jingheng. “It’s rare for your sister-in-law to cook, eat more!”
Nan Jingheng, “…”
Why was the other person was treating him nicely, it felt as if he suddenly had value.
How suffocating!
Due to Nan Jingheng’s information. Yan Beicheng was being extra kind towards him during the meal. Once the meal was over, and Aunt Zhuang served up a plate of fruits.
Nan Jingheng barely had a few bites before acting more contemptible, Yan Beicheng kicked him out of the house. Chu Xi then took the opportunity to bat at Nan Jingheng’s legs a few times, and boldly let out an “Awoo” sound towards Nan Jingheng.
It had not finished its howl before it then scampered off quickly to hide behind Lin Chu’s back. Peeking out slightly to look towards the door, intending to run off if there were sudden movements.
Lin Chu listened as Nan Jingheng was leaving and still causing a ruckus, she could not help but laugh about it.
When Nan Jingheng had completely left the house, Chu Xi felt relieved. It then went back to the living room with its head held high, lied on the floor and started to lick its own paws that were used to harass Nan Jingheng earlier on. It felt like it was a particularly great dog, such grandiose manners!
Yan Beicheng closed the door and faintly gave her a look, Lin Chu’s heart twitched and recalled what happened earlier on.
Yan Beicheng gave her a smirk, his facial expressions as if saying that he would be back later for revenge and went into the study room.
Lin Chu, “…”
Hehe!
Yan Beicheng went inside the study room to give Lawyer Zhou a call, they talked for half an hour before he finally came out.
Lin Chu was no longer in the living room. Yan Beicheng then took the phone upstairs and went back into the bedroom. As he entered it, he found that she was not there either. But, the light from within the frosted glass door of the bathroom was brightly lit and he was able to identify a thin figure on the inside.
Yan Beicheng barely gave it a thought and moved towards it and opened the door. He had not seen the inside clearly, he already heard the sound of the shower running.
He then saw the surrounding glass of the shower had steamed up from the heat as if it was covered with a layer of translucent gauze.
From the smudged glass, he was able to see Lin Chu’s vague fair silhouette,
She had her eyes closed as she rinsed the hair conditioner off her long hair, she then felt something was not quite right. When she opened her eyes, she saw Yan Beicheng had already taken his clothes off and proceeded to open the glass door, and stepped inside as if it were nothing.
Lin Chu was flabbergasted, her long hair was scattered over her body. Streams of water flowed down her hair forming smaller dribbles on her hair tips, sliding down her fair skin. As if it were melting tallow.
That thick long hair of hers covered the view of the chest half-way, as she used both of her hands subconsciously to cover them. Her eyes widened up as she asked, “Why did you come in here?”
“What did you say about my old age just now?” Yan Beicheng squinted his eyes and took her directly into his arms.
Lin Chu blinked her eyes with a guilty conscience, he really knew about it!
Could this man actually read minds?
“Hehe, no, did I say anything out loud?” Lin Chu giggled guiltily, and her whole body was pushed up against the wall by Yan Beicheng.
Her waist was raised up by him and, and she was immediately stuffed up by him.
Lin Chu, “…”
Lin Chu grabbed on to his shoulder unhappily, and she had no choice but to twine herself onto his waist.
“You’re grabbing quite tightly,” Yan Beicheng said in a low pitch tone.
“I’m scared of falling down,” Lin Chu said, unsatisfied with this man’s willful act. She bowed her head down and gnawed on his shoulder.
Yan Beicheng hissed out, as that gnaw was quite painful for him. He then gave her a playful slap as if he was giving a child a lesson. “No worries, isn’t there a root holding on to you underneath?”
Lin Chu, “…”
Yan Beicheng saw her sudden somewhat foolish expression and his heart turned cheerful. His good-looking lips had even spilled open a burst of pleasant-sounding laughter. He then immediately gave her small lips a kiss.
That night, Lin Chu was terribly tossed around by Yan Beicheng.
…
The next morning, Zhu Hexuan came to the office with the written manuscript. She was waiting for the managing editor to finish up with it and for the editor-in-chief’s signature, then she would be able to post it on the internet. The evening newspapers then would be able to do the typesetting and printing.
Just as she was about to sit down and turn on the computer, the boot screen had not even shown up and she received a call from the editor-in-chief and was called into the office.
Zhu Hexuan felt strange, normally when something was wrong. The editor-in-chief would inform the managing editor and then the managing editor would inform them. It was rare for the editor-in-chief to directly contact them.
Zhu Hexuan went into the editor-in-chief’s office and found that the managing editor was in there as well.
The editor-in-chief was a middle-aged man that was nearly 50 years old. He wore a pair of black-rimmed glasses and was very elegant.
“Xiao Zhu, sit,” The editor-in-chief said, with the tone of a literati. It still made Zhu Hexuan feel a bit of pressure.
Zhu Hezhen sat next to the managing editor and listened as the editor-in-chief said, “I heard that you received a call from someone yesterday and directly went to Lin Yi’s front entrance to interview a young girl who claimed to be Lin Chu’s little sister?”
“That’s right,” Zhu Hexuan answered, still unclear of what the editor-in-chief was implying.
Zhu Hexuan was guessing that due to Lin Chu’s identity, the editor-in-chief would want to pay special attention to it and personally examine the news. It was either that they did not dare to publish it, or that they wanted to make the news huge.
However, judging by the editor-in-chief’s normal style, he was not one that did not dare to publish a story, hence it must be the latter.
“I think we shouldn’t publish this piece of news,” The editor-in-chief stated.
Zhu Hexuan was shocked. “Why? It was rare for a piece of news to involve a party that has such a reputation, it would be able to attract readers. Also, the news itself is involved in high society and could trigger a mass discussion.”
“The young girl that claimed to be Lin Chu’s sister, where’s the evidence? Did she provide some sort of proof to you?” The editor-in-chief asked.
Zhu Hexuan choked, she then said out in an unnatural tone, “No.”
“Since there’s no evidence, why do you want to publish it? Jing Jin Daily is a big organization. It had always provided authenticity as well as the openness of news, and it has never hidden the truth. If it was real and she had shown you evidence, then we’ll publish it. But now you have none, and you’ve even written about it and determined the matter by yourself, what is this? We’re the news source for society, not news sources for entertainment. Xiao Zhu, I thought you were a responsible journalist, not one that would bring personal emotions into work.”
Zhu Hexuan’s expression changed and hurriedly explained, “Editor-in-chief, I didn’t—”
The editor-in-chief took out an envelope and handed it to her. “This is a resignation letter. It has already been typed out. You can just sign it.”
Zhu Hexuan stood up fiercely and almost knocked down the chair behind her. “Editor-in-chief, what do you mean by this? Because of this news, you want me to resign?”
Zhu Hexuan then rolled her eyeballs and asked, “Did Yan Beicheng talk to you and threatened you, is that why you won’t let me publish this news? Editor-in-chief, you’re really disappointing me! I thought you were a fair person in media that would never let yourself be influenced by power and evil forces. Last time you’ve done even bigger news, I’ve heard from the elders before that you received terrifying calls every day, yet you never bowed down. Why now, is it because of your old age, you’ve lost the dynamism from before?”
“Zhu Hexuan, stop talking!” The managing editor spouted out from the side.
“No, I’ll speak up about it. Why can’t I publish the news that I’ve worked so hard on? If you stop publishing news because you’re afraid of a larger power, what kind of a newsperson are you?” Zhu Hexuan asked in a firm tone.
The editor-in-chief then slanted his lips and sneered at her. “Oh, you’re quite the righteous person, are you?”
Zhu Hexuan carried an angry expression, as the editor-in-chief continued, “Last time you received money from Jin He to publish a piece of news. That was your professional ethics as a journalist? Not just Jin He, there’s also Lai Yue, Kai He…”
The editor-in-chief took out a list, and read the names on it. Even the amount of money she received each time was stated. There were also cases where she was supposed to investigate various businesses that carried out shady practices in secret. But because she had received money from those businesses, not only did she not report it, she even wrote out articles applauding such business enterprises.
Now the editor-in-chief had compiled everything and recited them it row by row, then looked at Zhu Hexuan with cold eyes. “I let you take the initiative to resign so that it could be your way out. You know the rules of this field. If I dismiss you, you’d be hard-pressed to mix in the circle of mainstream media. It won’t be easy to find a job again.”
This was also because the editor-in-chief took pity on her, as she was an orphan. In the beginning, Zhu Hexuan wrote that on her resume and she wrote her ambitions as well. The editor-in-chief thought that it had not been easy for her to reach this stage as an orphan, and hired her. This was also Zhu Hexuan’s little ploy to play on his pity, and the editor-in-chief was able to see through it. However, he thought that this tiny scheme was harmless.
Now he was reminded of her tough life and did not want to completely block her way out.
Zhu Hexuan’s face grew pale. “I… I’m… Who…”
She soon then realized, it was Yan Beicheng.
He knew that she went and looked for Xu Jiaojiao. Last time, Yan Beicheng merely warned her. This time around, she had done too much and Yan Beicheng had lost his patience. He then immediately made her lose her job.
Zhu Hexuan hesitated for a short while, she had no clue what to do next. She was furious at Yan Beicheng, for what right did he had to meddle in her life. With a word, she lost her job.
Furthermore, why did the editor-in-chief obey Yan Beicheng’s command!
Was it just because Yan Beicheng had greater power over him!
The things she had done were harmless, and it was an unspoken rule in this field of work. It was also done by her colleagues.
She did not believe that the managing editor and editor-in-chief had never done such a thing before!
Zhu Hexuan even hated the editor-in-chief now, usually, he seemed as though he cared for the staff. Once something went wrong, he turned his back on his people!
The editor-in-chief sighed and said, “Just sign here, go to human resources and handle the leaving office procedures. I’m only able to do this much for you. Your salary this month would be doubled as well. I would not say much about you on the outside, I hope you’ll find a better job. In addition, if you want to continue to work as a journalist. Please don’t take the wrong path again, I know there are many people in the field that’s doing the same as you. It’s just that once you’ve done it too much, one day, things will catch up to you. Just do things by the book, and do a good job as an honest news media person.”
Zhu Hexuan said nothing, took a pen and signed the resignation letter. She then threw the pen and went out the door.
…
Regarding the matter of Dai Huimin and the daughter, naturally, there was nothing. Xu Jiaojiao had not heard any news about her for several days now. It was something she would bring up in a later speech.
Lin Chu did not know that Zhu Hexuan had lost her job. Around ten o’clock, she received a call from Xu Moyan.
“Sisters, I’m home!” Xu Moyan said ecstatically. “Isn’t this a surprise!”
Ever since Xu Moyan moved away to live with Zhen Yuntong, Lin Chu rarely met up with Xu Moyan.
It was not due to their friendship weakening, but due to matters that came up one after another. It left her unable to meet and receiving a phone call from Xu Moyan now made her happy as well.
A while ago, when she finally had the time to catch her breath. Lin Chu gave Xu Moyan a call as well, but Xu Moyan was on a business trip.
The business trip this time around was longer, Xu Moyan only came back around midnight and she fell asleep immediately after returning. It was the middle of the night, even Zheng Yuntong had no idea she was back.
“We haven’t seen each other in so long, do you have time in the afternoon? Call Yuntong out as well, we’ll have lunch together,” Xu Moyan said on the phone.
“Alright.”
Lin Chu hung up the phone and gave Yan Beicheng a call to inform him about this matter.
Yan Beicheng was a little unwilling, it had become a habit of his to have lunch with her. When he saw her eating her meal, his appetite grew as well.
“Don’t be this way, I haven’t seen Moyan in a long time. I’ve never gotten the chance to, and today Moyan is the one asking as well,” Lin Chu advised him.
Yan Beicheng then reluctantly agreed to it.
“You need to get a meal around noon even if I’m not there to accompany you. Please eat your meal on time and don’t drag it. Also, don’t call for takeouts and just leave it there to get cold,” Lin Chu ordered him.
Lin Chu insisting that he eat properly made Yan Beicheng’s feeling of unhappiness that Lin Chu could not come over to accompany him dissipate.
He was pleased and happily replied, “Okay.”
…
At noon, Xu Moyan was waiting on the first floor. She came back in the middle of the night and rested at home today, and was not rushing to go to work.
As soon as she saw Lin Chu and Zheng Yuntong, she raised her hands up and waved at them.
Lin Chu and Zheng Yuntong were both ecstatic and immediately dashed towards her.
“Why are you so quiet when coming back in the middle of the night?” Zheng Yuntong smiled as she talked.
“Isn’t it because I’m scared I’ll wake you?” Xu Moyan giggled as she replied, “Once I slept and woke up it was already almost noon. When I saw the time, I quickly got up and packed my things and hurried over here. Oh right, I went to Chengdu this time around, did I mention it? I brought back great snacks for you two. I also got you a few packs of ingredients for hotpot. Yuntong, I left yours at home. This one’s yours.”
Lin Chu saw the big bag of goodies, then proceeded to put the things in her office as it was inconvenient for her to bring it out for lunch.
Due to not meeting up for a long time, when they were getting lunch, Xu Moyan had blurted out non-stop about the days of her life. She even talked about the things she was unsatisfied with at work.
Lin Chu had never hidden anything from Xu Moyan, she even told her about the matters regarding Dai Huimin and Xu Jiaojiao. As Zheng Yuntong worked alongside her, she already knew bits and pieces of the matter. Lin Chu did not want to exclude her from the matter anyway.
“How rotten-minded!” Xu Moyan took a bite of cucumber slice as she listened to Lin Chu’s story about Xu Jiaojiao’s behavior yesterday. She could not help but sneer. “That name really matches her personality, how spoiled.” (TN: “徐娇娇” or known as Xu Jiaojiao, the meaning of “娇” in Chinese is spoiled and pampered.)
“If she was sweet, I would’ve happily done a DNA test. Even if I won’t acknowledge Dai Huimin as my mother, she had nothing to do with that. I’m willing to have more sisters.” Lin Chu began to sneer. “I didn’t expect her to be so upfront with me. If I were to acknowledge her, I’m scared I’ll be leading a wolf into my house. Forget it, let’s not speak of her. We haven’t seen each other for a long time and lunchtime is way too short. Why don’t you come over to our place for a meal, since you’ve brought back ingredients for hotpot, let’s eat hotpot for dinner.”
Yan Beicheng was hotpot fanatic, he even opened up a hotpot restaurant just so that he could eat hotpot. Hence, the ingredients Xu Moyan had brought back was definitely up his alley.
Xu Moyan ecstatically agreed, yet she thought about Yan Beicheng’s face. She could not help but shiver. “Would Yan Beicheng agree to this?”
Lin Chu, “…”
“Why don’t you just come over to our place?” Zheng Yuntong suggested.
“Wait, I’ll give him a call and ask,” Lin Chu said as she dialed her phone. She got up and walked outside to avoid the loud noises in the hall.
Yan Beicheng’s background noise was noisy as well, he seemed to be in a restaurant.
Yan Beicheng thought that she had called because she was not at ease, and his heart was ecstatic. He just drank a spoonful of soup, and it gave him a further warm sensation.
“I did get myself a good meal,” Yan Beicheng said, and he originally had a clear and calm tone, yet unconsciously he added some coyness as he spoke out. He made Zuo Qiu that was sitting opposite him feel disgusted.
He originally wanted to get himself a piece of beef, but Yan Beicheng was so greasy that he changed the direction of his chopstick and got himself a piece of cucumber instead, to get rid of the grease.
Lin Chu then tried to prase her words correctly and continued, “Moyan just came back from her business trip, I haven’t seen her in so long—”
“You can’t stay with her! Not even for a night!” Yan Beicheng did not wait for her to finish talking, yet he immediately rejected it.
“…” Lin Chu then continued, “I’m not saying I’m staying with her. I just wanted to invite her and Yuntong over for a meal. She even brought back Chengdu’s specialty products and that hotpot base that you love so much.”
As long as she was not going to spend the night outside, Yan Beicheng had no further objections. Additionally, when compared with her staying out versus coming over for a meal, Yan Beicheng gladly agreed to it.
“I’ll give Ding Shang a call, and ask them to send over some pots as well as the ingredients,” Yan Beicheng said. There was already a hotpot restaurant available, so Lin Chu did not have to go through too much trouble.
It was awkward for Lin Chu to make this call, after all, Xu Moyan and Zheng Yuntong had no relations with Yan Beicheng. They also only met each other a couple of times, and Yan Beicheng had only seen Xu Moyan a few times that were also because of Lin Chu.
She did not think that Yan Beicheng would agree so quickly, and it made Lin Chu felt her affection raised up and did a victory pose without giving it further thought. She smacked her lips on the phone and said out loud, “Beicheng, thank you!”
Yan Beicheng was shocked and his gaze became silly as he sat on the chair, with his mouth slightly opened.
Zuo Qiu was watching from the opposite side. He especially wanted to take out his mobile phone at that moment to capture Yan Beicheng’s current silly expression, but he did not dare to.
Yan Beicheng’s ears went hot. Although Lin Chu’s action was through the phone, her voice was crisp, clear and still ringing in his ears. It was as if she had kissed her ears.
Yan Beicheng’s face turned red as well, and he had a huge grin on his face. “It’s not even a big deal!”
As long as she liked it, she could do whatever!
Zuo Qiu bowed his head as he chewed on cucumbers, and carefully glanced over at Yan Beicheng’s silly expression. He finally was unable to constrain himself and quickly took a photo of Yan Beicheng. Then, he opened up WeChat and sent it to Lin Chu.
Yan Beicheng recovered his composure, and once he hung up the phone he squinted his eyes at Zuo Qiu. “Phone.”
“I’ll delete, I’ll delete it right away!” Zuo Qio said immediately, took out his phone and directed the screen towards Yan Beicheng. Let him personally take a look when he was deleting the picture.
Yan Beicheng gave him a satisfied look, Zuo Qiu then exclaimed as if he were seeking death, “I already sent it to Lin Chu!”
Yan Beicheng, “…”
Yan Beicheng then waved at the waiter, and the waiter immediately walked over. Yan Beicheng then ordered a few more expensive dishes from the menu.
Yan Beicheng had his mouth filled with food, even his cheeks were bulging out as well. “Master Yan, it’s just the two of us, we can’t eat this much! Letting you spend this much, I feel quite sorry.”
Yan Beicheng then looked at him mockingly and put a piece of sweet and sour pork into his mouth gracefully. He chewed up until the sweet and sour juice had gone down gone his throat before saying, “You’re paying, so the one spending money is you.”
Zuo Qiu, “…”
If he had known earlier that this would happen he would not have blurted out his crime. Master Yan, you ordered quite a lot of dishes just now, this meal would be very expensive!
The waiter then placed down the steaming plates of dishes one at a time. It was noontime, yet each of them got a bowl of sea cucumber, and each person got a plate of scallion baked abalone. Just by looking at it, one would think this much supplement would cause a nosebleed.
Zuo Qiu then picked up the sea cucumber, since it was him marked for death. He had to eat all of it even as he started tearing up.
…
Once Lin Chu hung up, she saw that she had an additional message on her WeChat icon. The notification screen of her phone flashed a message reminding her that “One leaf heralds the coming of autumn” (TN: Directly translated from Zuo Qiu’s WeChat ID name in Chinese which was 一叶知秋. The word 秋 symbolizes autumn. It’s an idiom that meant a small sign can indicate a great trend.) had sent a new message to her.
Lin Chu got back to her seat as she opened up her WeChat. She then saw the picture of Yan Beicheng that Zuo Qiu had sent to her.
He then wrote down, “Just now when Master Yan was talking to you on the phone, his expression turned like this.”
Lin Chu could not hold it in and laughed.
When she looked at the photo she saw the dishes on the table, she then knew Yan Beicheng had a good meal and it was not half bad.
After giving it a thought, she then set the silly expression of Yan Beicheng as her WeChat’s profile photo.
Once Yan Beicheng had finished up his meal with Zuo Qiu and went back to the company, he then remembered Zuo Qiu had sent the photo to Lin Chu. He then opened his WeChat and wanted to ask Lin Chu about it to attempt to save his image, even a little bit.
Just as he found Lin Chu’s message box, he then saw her newly changed profile photo.
“…” The corner of Yan Beicheng’s eyes started twitching.
Just at that moment, the 8×8 is 64 group chat started to buzz, it was vibrating lively too.
When Yan Beicheng went in to check, he then saw Han Zhuoli cheerfully said, “Eh, Lin Chu changed her profile photo?”
Wei Zilin, “Is that Yan Beicheng?”
Chu Zhaoyang, “Crazy.”
Lin Chu then appeared and gave a shy emoticon, then said, “I think this profile photo’s quite joyful.”
Yan Beicheng, “…”
What kind of wife would bring down her own man!
Chu Zhaoyang, “Saved it.”
Wei Ziqian, “Woah, why is it so lively?”
Han Zhuoli, “Old Chu you’re so devious! I said before, those that don’t utter a word and don’t speak are in fact full of sinister plots! However, now I just want to say that I’m saving it as well. Lin Chu, you don’t! Change! Profile! Photo!”
Song Yu, “Chengzhi has a social event at noon and unable to come up, I’ll save it for him.”
Wei Muran, “I’ll save it for my parents.”
Yan Beicheng, “…”
Wei Ziqian, “Hey Cheng’er, come on out! You should be explaining why did you put on such stupid look on your face?”
Chu Zhaoyang, “One’s looks are decided by their thoughts.”
Qi Chenglin, “Insightful.”
Han Zhuoli, “I said it before, those that barely speak has the evilest thoughts!”
Chu Zhaoyang, “…”
At first, she wanted to be playful, and Lin Chu thought that it would be interesting to set Yan Beicheng’s foolish appearance as her profile photo. After watching so many people made fun of Yan Beicheng, she felt a little embarrassed. She then quietly changed her profile photo back to the original one.
She then messaged Yan Beicheng privately, “I changed it back, please don’t be angry.”
She then sent a guilty emoticon behind it. “I didn’t know it’ll cause a ruckus.”
“It’s fine.” Yan Beicheng replied to her speedily.
Originally he felt a little gloomy, but seeing Lin Chu’s messages, he did not have the heart to be angry at her.
Even if he could not see her face, seeing the guilty emoticons she sent was unbearable for him.
“You’re really not angry?” Lin Chu asked as she was unsure.
“I’m really not. You changed to my photo, it made me happy,” Yan Beicheng said. He then was afraid Lin Chu would change it back and hurriedly said, “Tonight I’ll fetch you from work and we’ll take a picture together and set it as the profile photo. I’ll forgive you for just now.”
Lin Chu could not help but laugh. “Alright then.”
…
At night after work, Zhen Yuntong and Xu Moyan had agreed that they would take a cab to Ding City.
Sitting in Yan Beicheng’s car with Lin Chu was slightly ostentatious for them. Although Zhen Yuntong was close to Lin Chu, she still paid attention to speech and action. She did not want colleagues from the company to gossip behind her back saying she was just fawning at Lin Chu to gain benefit from her.
Lin Chu was great with everyone and had the same master as Zhen Yuntong. So the two’s relationship was quite good, and nobody felt that anything was off.
Although if one saw her directly sitting inside Yan Beicheng’s car, it would create a different meaning.
Frankly speaking, the working condition in Lin Yi was considered good enough. Colleagues usually would have some small squabbles, but most of the time they got along really well, and there was no such thing as stabbing someone behind their backs.
Zheng Yuntong was quite appreciative of this.
Zheng Yuntong still went outside the company along with Lin Chu, and Xu Moyan was already waiting by the door. The two then waved at each other.
Lin Chu then saw the Black Grand Cherokee parked on the opposite side of the road and looked at the two. “You guys shouldn’t think too much, just follow our car back.”
Xu Moyan then swung her hands. “I have already called for a cab on the way here, it should be here any moment now.”
Right then, Lin Chu’s phone rang. She thought it would be Yan Beicheng calling her, but when she took her phone out it was the orphanage’s number.
Lin Chu immediately picked it up and heard Mo Jinxi choking with sobs. “Chu Chu, you… can you come back here? Aunt Zhu came back and started scolding everyone.”
There were faint crying sounds in the background.
“Aunt Wang and Aunt Yuan could not drive her away, and the old principal’s crying in anger as well,” Mo Jinxi said.
Mo Jinxi was always a strong little fellow, it was rare for him to cry. Hearing him choked in sobs made Lin Chu felt nervous.
“Jinxi, don’t worry, I’ll be there right away. Bring Shi Tou and Tian Tian back inside the house, don’t stay outside.” As Lin Chu finished talking, she then heard a loud thump in the background. She did not know what fell on the ground.
Lin Chu’s chest tightened up, she was afraid the old principal fell in an accident. Although judging from the background noise, no one was screaming. Something must have fallen off instead.
Mo Jinxi hung up and brought Shi Tou and Tian Tian to hide in the inside. He then stayed in the living room.
Even though he was small and could not do much, he could not bear to leave as well. He was afraid something would happen to the old principal.
Looking at Zhu Hexuan’s behavior, if she were to do anything to the old principal, he thought that he could use his body as a shield.
Lin Chu then explained briefly about what had happened to Xu Moyan and Zheng Yuntong. Xu Moyan then said, “Don’t need to talk so much, let’s just go. We’ll follow you.”
Zheng Yuntong nodded in agreement, Xu Moyan already folded her sleeves up and showed off her white arms. “What’s the point of going there to bully the old principal and the kids, I’ll go over there and kill her myself!”
If it were any other time, Lin Chu would have laughed at Xu Moyan’s words. Right now she was not in the right state of mind to do so.
At this time, the cab Xu Moyan called for had arrived. Xu Moyan quickly pulled Zheng Yuntong and got in the car as she said to Lin Chu, “We’ll take this car and go over, you quickly go and look for Yan Beicheng.”
Lin Chu nodded, walked to the crosswalk at the front and watched the pedestrian’s green light lit up and quickly dashed to the opposite side.
While he was inside the car, he had seen Lin Chu picking up the phone and that her expression was not great.
Now watching as Lin Chu trying to hurriedly enter the car and then grabbing on to Yan Beicheng, and she wanted to talk but because she dashed here she had to gasp for air instead and unable to speak.
Yan Beicheng then leaned over and helped her put on her seatbelt, then proceeded to pat her back. “What’s going on, don’t rush and talk slowly.”
Lin Chu frowned. “Zhu Hexuan’s causing a ruckus, suddenly went to the orphanage and caused a scene. She’s making the old principal cry from anger, and the kids are all scared to death.”
“We’ll go over right now,” Yan Beicheng said.
He stepped on the gas as he turned on his signal light, and drove in the direction of the orphanage.
His well-defined long fingers then tapped on the steering wheel. He organized his thoughts and said, “I’m guessing the reason Zhu Hexuan went there is related to her lost job.”
“What does her lost job has anything to do with the old principal!” Lin Chu was furious, and suddenly turned her head and asked, “Why’d she lose her job?”
Yan Beicheng glanced at her and said nothing. Lin Chu then understood. “You caused it?”
Yan Beicheng did not deny it.
Lin Chu then recalled that when Nan Jingheng came over to the house last night, he said that Zhu Hexuan had received a call from someone and immediately went to interview Xu Jiaojiao.
She figured that when Zhu Hexuan exposed her last time, Yan Beicheng was already furious about it. This time she was doing it again and Yan Beicheng did not intend to spare her at all. He directly made her lose her job.
It was a recent matter, and yesterday Zhu Hexuan was still a journalist with a good name. Today she lost her job, she had no clue how Yan Beicheng did it.
“I’m guessing she also guessed out that she lost her job due to offending you. It just so happens that she felt the old principal always preferred you, and because I’m around she didn’t dare to come at you. That’s why she went and look for the old principal instead,” Yan Beicheng said as he took his phone out.
Lin Chu then heard him calling the cops.
“Is she sick? What’s the point of going after the old principal!” She heard from Yan Beicheng before, Zhu Hexuan was a dirty journalist.
She did not try to look at her own faults but went and blamed the innocent instead.
Moreover, if Zhu Hexuan did not persistently try to nitpick and insist on causing trouble for her, Yan Beicheng would never have involved himself, now she felt as if the whole world was her enemy!
Yan Beicheng’s car and Xu Moyan’s cab both arrived at the orphanage’s entrance, Xu Moyan then paid directly with her mobile phone, which was very fast.
