Chapter 26: The long holiday

The long-awaited holiday had finally arrived.

Folia got up earlier than usual. She combed her hair cheerfully, and then frowned her face because she couldn’t decide on what to wear. Razé watched her expression kept changing from one to another and thought it was cute.

Razé woke up from her bed and bid a temporary goodbye to her resting time. She would go to her office as soon as she returned to her home today. She would first need to confirm the current situation before she could start her work.

Aa-. I really hope the guys didn’t cause any trouble …

Although she was a little worried about her subordinates, she believed that they wouldn’t do anything stupid. Razé got ready to return home. She saw Folia nervously moved around in front of the mirror and said, “Folia. Let me help you with your make-up. And hair too.”

Folia shyly replied, “Okay.”

Aah. The shy angel is also cute too! Razé screamed in her heart as she helped Folia getting ready.

Folia: “We’re going to have Battle Fiesta right after the holiday, right?”

Razé: “Yeah. Time passes so quickly.”

Folia: “Oh, I forgot to tell you. Thanks to you, I’ve come up with the magic to defeat the opponent. Thank you, Razé-chan.”

Razé: “I didn’t do anything. That’s amazing, Folia. I’m sure Lord Moldir will be surprised.”

Folia: “I hope so.”

Razé: “You’re going to be fine.”

Folia: “What about you?”

Razé: “Huh?”

Folia: “Is there anyone that you want to invite to the Battle Fiesta?”

Razé was unable to answer the unexpected question right away. Admission was by invitation only so the parents or guardians needed to RSVP for the event. Razé didn’t have any living family members. Harlens was registered as her guardian when she entered the academy but it was for the procedure only. And she couldn’t trouble her subordinates to act as her relatives. Besides, it was not easy for them to get time off, so she should let them rest when they could.

Folia suddenly felt bad for asking that question when she saw Razé was unable to answer her. Razé decided to give a vague answer to avoid making Folia worried.

Razé: “There is. But I think they’re busy. I don’t think they can come.”

Folia: “Really?”

Razé: “Yeah.”

They went silent for a while. Then Folia said, “Razé-chan. I’ll bring lots of souvenir for you later!”

Razé: “Really? Then I’ll look forward to it. And I’d be super happy if you bring me sweets.”

Folia: “No problem! Look forward to it!”

Razé: “Un. Okay, your make-up is done.”

With her makeup and hair done, Folia had become 50% more cute. Razé hoped that she would be able to win Lord Moldir’s heart. It was for Carna and her own future.

The students gathered in the hall for the end of term assembly. They were wearing plain clothes and carrying their luggage. As soon as the assembly was over, they would be teleported to the same place where they came from. Thinking that she would need to cook and do everything herself from now on, Razé felt a bit troublesome. But at least it was for a short period during the holiday only. After the holiday was over, she could come to the academy again.

Once the principal finished his speech, it was time to go home.

Folia: “See you later, Razé-chan.”

Razé: “Un. Take care.”

Razé closed her eyes when she was surrounded by the bright light. When she opened them, she was in a dark room.

“… I’m home.”

She should have gotten used already to not getting a reply, but she felt a little lonely when she remembered the room that she shared with Folia.

“Well then. I should get ready.”

Razé opened the curtains to let the light in. She ventilated the room while she unpacked her luggage. Then she was ready to report to work immediately.

“I’m off.”

She held the square bag that she often used and teleported to her office. Captain Bonalt, who was buried in a pile of documents, lifted his head up when he heard someone came in.

Razé: “Morning, Captain.”

Bonalt: “Leader! Good morning!”

He looked at her with a beaming face, then he scratched his head when he saw the stack of documents accumulated on his desk.

Razé: “Was there any trouble when I wasn’t around?”

Bonalt: “… No. We had more injuries during hunting mission but there were no fatalities.”

Razé: “That’s good. Great job, Captain.”

Razé put her bag at her desk and right away read through the reports.

Razé: “Hmm? It looks like you’ve been sent for expedition many times during this period. As a commander, you must consider the members’ condition and refuse properly if it seems impossible.”

Bonalt replied “Yes” to Razé, who was still reading through the documents. He didn’t dare to tell her about what they had done during the joint training.

After figuring out the situation, Razé then teleported to the Staff Headquarters.

“Razé Orphan from Monster Hunting Department.”

“Come in.”

When she entered the room, she saw the charming His Excellency the Grim Reaper.

Welrian: “It’s been a while. I’ve heard from Harlens about what happened. It was a right decision to send you there, after all.”

Hmm, the real face has more powerful impact.

Razé was almost charmed by the face that she hadn’t seen in a long time, but she immediately emptied her mind.

Welrian: “I’ve heard about your practice match with my son. Thank you for that. I don’t know where he gets that personality traits. He was a bit stubborn. Maybe because he wants to avoid disputes with Prince Ruben, he suddenly said that he wants to join the Knights. He doesn’t even have the talent to be one. I’ve told him that I’d let him do what he wants if he can take the first place in Centrior.”

Razé: “Adis-sama is a very talented person. I think there would be no problem if he joins the Knights.”

I’d be happy if I don’t have to see someone with your face in the academy. Please let him join the Knights.

Welrian: “Haha. You don’t have to speak up for him. Other than the match with you, he was also badly defeated during the swordsmanship class. I hope you can help to keep him in his place.”

Razé felt sorry for Adis when she heard Welrian words.

Welrian: “Well, let’s stop our idle talk here for now. What is the current situation?”

Razé: “About the poison mixed into the cookies that Lady Mortens had baked, although the manufacturing method is difficult, it turned out to be something that can be made in the school. Looking at the circulation records of books with instructions on how to make them at the library, I have found out that one book was lost and the borrower’s name was not recorded. There is no doubt that the suspect must be a school staff, but the identity is still unknown.”

Welrian: “I see.”

Razé: “With the permission from Principal Blayne, we have decided to set up a trap inside the school. At the same time, I have already marked all the targeted victims of this incident with my magic secretly, so that I can rush over immediately should anything happen.”

Welrian: “I’m really impressed at how you get things done really fast.”

Razé: “Not at all. It is my duty to find the suspect as soon as possible so that the students can feel safe. During this long vacation, we plan to re-examine information about the teachers, cleaners, cooks, and workers at the shopping district.”

Welrian nodded his head and said, “Alright. Once you finished that, I want you to discuss with Harlens about the security during Battle Fiesta. And one more thing. Razé Orphan, I hereby approve you to enter Zone 15. Proceed with the expedition as soon as possible and send me a report.”

Razé: “Yes sir!”

There were so many things to do, it was making her head spin. She wondered how much she could clear within these two weeks school holiday.

Welrian rose and stood next to his desk. He said, “Granoli-kun, did you enjoy your school life?”

Razé was stunned because she didn’t expect that question.

Razé: “Yes. There are many types of students, and I enjoyed my time there. It was a new experience to me.”

Welrian: “That’s good then. I hope you can continue to support you friends.”

Razé: “Yes.”

Razé left Welrian’s office and let out a sigh of relief. She was surprised that he sounded like a parent.

Oh, right. He is a parent.

He didn’t look like someone with kid, so Razé always forgot about Adis.

“It makes me flustered-”

Razé scratched her head and teleported to her office.
