Chapter 016: Reunion

Shien thus wandered about Lamdrion until nightfall.

Thanks to that, Shien also learned many things.

Such as, in this world, the commonly used currency are gold coins, silver coins, and copper coins. It’s basically the same as many fantasy worlds.

A copper coin’s buying power is basically just about enough for an apple. The conversion is a hundred coppers to a silver, a hundred silvers to a gold, so a gold is worth the same as 10,000 coppers.

Therefore, generally speaking, a gold coin would be enough for a family of three to live on for a month with room to spare.

Of course, to a normal family, a gold coin is quite a lot, but for people like adventurers and nobility, that’s not necessarily the case.

That’s because in this world, normal items might not be worth much, but magic related items are extremely valuable.

For example, in this world there are things like magic potions. Unlike normal medicines that don’t work obviously, these will instantly take effect just like magic.

Shien look a look around the magic potions show, and he found that the cheapest health recovery potion requires 3 gold a bottle and magic recover potion costs 5 gold. They’re quite expensive.

However, by using these potions, whether it be injuries or magic could be restored at a speed visible to the naked eye, so their effects are quite evident.

Therefore, in an emergency, having a potion is basically equivalent to having an extra life.

Plus, only people with the [Mixing] skill can make magic potions, so they would naturally not be all that cheap.

Besides potions, this world also has magical equipment.

Those are items where even if a person can’t use magic, so long as they have the equipment, they would be able to use the magic enchanted within the equipment. It can only be created by people with the [Crafting] skill, so the price is similarly high.

Therefore, it also follows that if there are magical equipment, then there are also magical weapons.

The name says it all. Those are weapons that can release magic and magical effects conductive to battles. Much like magic items, they can be used by anybody, but the price tends to be even more expensive than normal magic equipment. Plus, only people with the [Forging] skill can make them.

These kind of magic items can be said to be a specialty of this world, so Shien was enthralled with the novelty.

In addition, be it magic potions, equipment, or weapons, they all need a valuable mineral call “Magic Crystal” as an ingredient. That’s also one of the reasons why they are so expensive.

These Magic Crystals are a type of mineral containing magic, and they’ll only show up in rare high grade mineral veins. As a requirement for creating magic potions, equipment, and weapons, plus the fact that it can be used to restore magic power or be used as a magic battery, it’s a resource coveted, developed, and fought over by every faction or nation.

Through the explanations from various kinds of shops, Shien gained various knowledge and developed a basic understanding about the world.

Thus, for the sake of being able to continue smoothly living in this world, Shien felt like he needs to properly plan his strategy.

Unfortunately, Shien only just registered as an adventurer today. Actual adventurer work won’t be properly starting until tomorrow, so for now he still needs to figure out how to get through the current day.

Thankfully, Shien had already dismantled those horned demonic beasts before leaving the forest. Although he hurriedly tamed a griffon to leave the forest, he did still manage to grab a few things with him.

For example, the beast hide he used to wrap up the holy sword. It’s unusually tough unlike normal hide that ended up cut up by the Holy Sword with just a touch. Plus, it’s quite nice for dealing with the cold at night, so Shien kept it with himself.

After getting appraised by a few shops, it was determined that it’s a the hide of a beast known as Sinking Armor Beast. It’s extremely tough.

That demonic beast is known as the toughest creature below level 50. It might not be all that strong, but to subjugation requires piercing its defenses, which takes at least high class magic or magic weapons with very high stats.

Due to that defensive power, Sinking Armor Beast hide can be used to make defensive equipment, and it’s quite sought after by adventurers and even nobility. The eyes of the shopkeeper who appraised the hide were also shining with anticipation and offered a starting bid of 80 gold to buy it.

Shein didn’t particularly mind selling it.

After all, against this supposedly high defense demonic beast, Shien just swung his sword and the thing’s head flew off. The hide as well was sliced away without much effort using the Holy sword, so Shien isn’t particularly attached to it.

But right now, that hide is the only thing Shien has that could somewhat wrap up the Holy Sword without getting cut to ribbons. Shien still needs it, so he couldn’t just carelessly sell it.

What Shien sold wasn’t the hide used to wrap up the Holy Sword, bu the only other thing he still had on him: A horn of those horned demonic beasts.

According to the shopkeeper, that’s a horn of a Horned Beast, which can reach level 30 by adulthood.

This kind of demonic beasts’ horn can be used to make antidote potions or daggers. It’s just that Horned Beasts are pack animals, so it’s very difficult to find and subjugate a lone Horned Beast. Therefore, the horn still count as a relatively rare material.

The shopkeeper exclaimed Shien’s good luck to have met a lone Horned Beast, so Shien could bring himself to tell them that he didn’t come across a lone Horned Beast, but rather he butchered the entire herd.

In the end, the horn sold for 2 gold, so Shien was no longer penniless.

And after getting his first bit of money in this other world, Shien immediately first bought some clothes and switched off the scraps he was wearing before. Afterwards, he successfully found an inn and got a room at the rate of a silver a day.

After ten whole days, Shien finally managed to stay somewhere for humans.

After moving in, the first thing Shien did was to scrub himself raw in a bath.

It has to be said. Back in the forest, Shien only managed to wash himself off a few times via a river, and that river had demonic beast living in it.

……

Night thus descended.

“So comfortable.”

Shien lied on the bed after his bath. With his body still moist with dew and a refreshed expression on his face, it was easy to tell how cozy he was.

“Ah, I can finally feel all the troubles today disappearing. As expected, a calm like like this suits me better.”

As Shien let out his feelings like this, a giggle entered his ears.

“You really are the first Hero to say something like that.”

Following such a voice, the world twisted.

Then, before Shien could respond, he had already gotten off the bed and was standing on the floor. The inn’s room looked to have been switched into a temple.

In the center of the temple, a familiar and beautiful figure imprinted itself into Shien’s eyes.”

“Goddess!?”

Shien opened his eyes wide.

Indeed.

Shien once more returned to the temple where he was first summoned.
