1537 There Must Be News Regarding An Lan Lin Che looked at her. “The short film you were in was very influential. Your company probably didn’t sign you up for it.”

Su Wan still found it funny when she thought about it.

“Because it was of a non-profit nature, the company could not be bothered to let me act in it. But I felt it was quite good, so I signed a contract with the director and acted in it for free. I didn’t expect it to become famous.”

“Yes.” Lin Che thought about it and said coolly, “In reality, many things are like that. Many things grow in the garden that no one ever sowed there.”

“So, you’re willing to sign me on because of this short film?”

Lin Che smiled noncommittally. “If not, what do you think is the reason?”

Su Wan’s expression changed. She looked down and held back her speculations.

However, she and Gu Jingyu had had nothing to do with each other for a very long time.

For sure, he must have forgotten entirely about her from a long time ago.

If so, there was no point for her to think about these connections. She was basically self-sentimental.

She smiled. “In that case, I have no other objections. I’ll take a look at the contract.”

“Sure. I look forward to working with you.”

Lin Che shook her hand.

Su Wan left with the contract in hand. When she arrived outside, she could not believe that she would one day be able to enter Lin Che’s work studio.

Right now, she felt as if there was a direct relation between being signed to this company and becoming famous.

It seemed that she would become famous as long as she signed on to this company.

So, many people were clambering to be part of this company.

However, Lin Che’s work studio only signed in a handful of people each year. Not just anyone could join.

Su Wan had already moved out from the school dorms. Although she still did not have much income, she still rented an apartment outside because the people in the dorms would often ostracize her for no reason. On top of that, now that she had gotten famous, their criticism of her seemed even more unreasonable. She was powerless against them, so she had no choice but to move out.

After she had returned home, she looked outside and had a nagging feeling that a pair of eyes seemed to be fixed on her.

She looked down from the window. There was nothing in the pitch-dark neighborhood.

Only rows of cars were parked there. It was as silent as the cold winter.

She did not know that in one of the cars, a nondescript Audi, Gu Jingyu was looking up while leaning backwards against the seat. He lowered the seat to its maximum and lay down with his arms as a pillow.

After not seeing her for such a long time, he felt more and more strongly that he had gone overboard back then.

He had spoken way out of turn, and his actions had been too much as well.

But it was already too late for him to redeem himself.

He could only secretly do something for her in hope that she could live a better life. He felt content with that.

As for Lin Che, she received a response from Su Wan in no time. She looked at the contract and felt that it was fine.

She sighed and thought to herself that Gu Jingyu had messed around for so many years, but now had finally grown up.

In the past, Lin Che never felt that Gu Jingyu seemed immature.

But the moment Gu Jingyu was compared to Gu Jingze and Gu Jingming, he really seemed too immature.

Just then, Gu Jingze suddenly sent Qin Hao to inform Lin Che that Elder Country had invited Gu Jingze there for an official visit. Gu Jingze had already agreed.

Lin Che immediately stood up. She recalled what Gu Jingze had said a few days ago and felt that this matter had something to do with An Lan.

She said, “I’ll go with him.”

Qin Hao said, “Sir sent me here precisely to ask you along.”

Lin Che tidied up a bit and headed to the airport directly with Qin Hao.

Since Yu Minmin’s due date was very near, Gu Jingming absolutely could not leave her. So, Gu Jingze had to handle this matter.

Before leaving, she told Gu Shinian to look after his younger sister. Gu Shinian agreed and told them to leave without worry.

She sat in the airplane and watched it take flight. She said to Gu Jingze beside her, “I think that Niannian is really too mature.”

Gu Jingze smiled. “Isn’t that a good thing?”

“Well. Although I feel very reassured when it comes to him, I always feel as if he’s a little adult. He knows so much at such a young age and has started doing so many things. It’s as if he never experienced childhood.”

Gu Jingze asked, “Isn’t this his childhood? What kind of person do you hope for your child to become? What kind of life do you wish for your child to live?”

Lin Che pondered for a bit. “To be honest, it’s not that I want my child to live a certain way. Other people may hope for their children to become scientists or artists, demand that they get into elite schools, get married and have children. I’ve never thought about any of these. It’s more important to me that my children can live happily and live the way they want to.”

Gu Jingze said, “So, this is the life he wants. He’s very happy like this.”

Lin Che asked, “Really?”

“Really.” He smiled and pinched her hands. “Each person’s happiness is different. We can’t make everyone mimic someone and live the same way just because we think that he seems to live very blissfully. For instance, I feel very happy when I see that you’re happy. But some people will feel that I’m very lame, right?”

Lin Che burst out laughing. At a time like this, he still remembered to say such sweet words.

The two of them were locked in embrace as they watched the airplane gradually meld with the clouds. After flying for more than ten hours, they finally landed on unfamiliar land.

In the distance, they saw barren land below.

After getting off the airplane, they saw that this was already the largest city in Elder Country. The city walls were worn and heavily damaged. Lin Che looked at Gu Jingze. “Why is this place so disorderly?”

Gu Jingze said, “This place has been in war for years. The war ceased just two years ago. They haven’t had time to repair it.”

Sure enough, war was a fatal weapon that could cause poverty.

The president of Elder Country came personally to welcome Gu Jingze and kept saying grateful words.

Because Gu Jingze had set up a factory here, many of them now had jobs and finally had some income. C Nation had helped them restore much of the traffic infrastructure as well. They were extremely grateful.

As the car passed by the streets outside, poverty was written all over the people’s faces and bodies, immediately eliciting a bit of tenderness.

It also made Lin Che feel that there were still a few places in the world that elicited such sympathy. But many people did not know about them.

Lin Che said, “They’re so pitiful.”

Gu Jingze said, “This place suddenly went back so many years in time. Many of them don’t even have food or clothes. They survive on international aid. That’s why this place is very disorderly. It’s best that you don’t go out alone.”

“Hm.”

Indeed, Lin Che dared not go out either. She looked outside but felt as if someone was staring at their car.

On alert, Lin Che grabbed Gu Jingze’s arm tightly. She saw a horseman on his horse, a young man whose age she could not determine. He looked like he was probably a guard at the presidential palace.

She narrowed her eyes and committed this person’s appearance to her memory. She felt that she had to get the people around her to take note of him.

They settled in for the night. Gu Jingze went to discuss official matters while using her computer in the place they had moved into.

However, she heard a sound from outside the window. The young chap who had been staring at her nonstop jumped in through the window in no time.
