Chapter 127 – Billows of Light

“Don’t!”

Xue Qilin rushed towards Jia Lan.

However, she is nowhere near as fast as Jia Lan’s hand swinging down.

“… Sneak attacks is not a proper way for ladies to conduct themselves!”

In the nick of time, Jia Lan suddenly turned around and slapped out with her hand.

A large gold hand imprint made of true qi whizzed out, gradually became larger, and finally turned into a hand imprint the size of a courtyard house that knocked into a white sphere of light.

The two collided and exploded, and then majestic true qi scattered in disarray and knocked down trees and swept sand and stones.

Taking advantage of this gap, Xue Qilin picked up Little Jade by the back of her collar with a hand.

As she stretched her hand towards Puppy, Jia Lan turned around and struck her with her palm.

“Ugh…!”

A violent force transmitted from Empyrean Universe that blocked the palm strike and entered Xue Qilin’s internal organs. She grunted and flew out.

As things flew by her vision rapidly, she saw a white figure with nine slender tails quickly intervene between Jia Lan and Puppy like a meteor.

Xue Qilin thrust her sword into the ground to slow down, and then adjusted her posture accordingly.

After landing on both feet, she immediately knelt on one knee and spat out blood.

It was just a single blow!

Moreover, it wasn’t even a direct hit, yet it already injured Xue Qilin. Although it is not a serious injury, but it cannot be ignored either.

After somewhat pacifying her messy breathing, she looked up and saw a white figure flying her way.

Dammit! Xue Qilin quickly pushed Little Jade away and caught a girl.

However, the force which propelled the girl was too great, and so Xue Qilin was knocked away before eventually stopping after hitting a big rock.

The impact squeezed the air out of her lungs.

Xue Qilin felt dizzy, but she still noticed the circumstances of the girl in her arms.

Blood is oozing out of a corner of the girl’s mouth. She seems to be injured, but the injury shouldn’t be serious. Additionally, she found Puppy who has already passed out in the girl’s arms.

“I owe you one again.”

The girl left Xue Qilin’s arms and placed the martial demon lad whom she rescued with great difficulty aside.

Looking at the nine tails swaying in front of her eyes, Xue Qilin laughed helplessly.

“I really don’t like you owing ah… it hurts!”

The girl – a Heaven Realm martial demon whom Xue Qilin has met before, stood up.

“You’re still in the mood to crack jokes?”

“Do you know what’s called die with a smile on your face?”

“As I see it, if you die like this, it should be die with resentment on your face.”

“Indeed.”

Xue Qilin laughed, and then stood up.

In the direction the two are looking, there stands an expressionless Jia Lan.

She is the most powerful enemy they have come across.

A Grandmaster.

A one man army.

“Hey, I remember you seem to be called Xi He?”

The girl uttered “mhm” in affirmation.

“Let’s join forces.”

“Fine.”

Xi He agreed readily.

She knows that there is no room for hesitation before a Grandmaster.

“However, we still stand no chance – shall we escape?”

Xue Qilin said with an enigmatic smile, which prompted Xi He to sigh.

“You just said for us to join forces in one moment, yet in the next one you say such discouraging words.”

“Right, then…”

Flames slowly rose around Xue Qilin and converged into a whirlpool. The nine tails behind Xi He extended to in front of her and the tip of each tail radiated light unique to metals.

Facing the two people who are ready to fight, Jia Lan just sighed.

“I changed my mind.”

She took a step forward and radiated bright gold light from all over her body.

That is a Grandmaster’s radiance.

Absolute light that eclipses everything.

Enveloped by the radiance, Jia Lan spread her arms and made a hugging motion.

“I’m going to kill you all.”

She has an intoxicated look in her eyes, and her face is unnaturally flushed. She looks as if she is drunk and will fall at any time.

“Ah, I haven’t killed anyone in a long time.”

Abnormal and twisted purity, that is the essence of the fair and spotless face of the Grandmaster called Jia Lan.

Under the radiance, there is a deeply hidden darkness.

“Thank you. I am happy, really happy.”

She showed a happy smile from the bottom of her heart.

An ill-timed, bright smile.

Then the wind stopped and the sounds dissipated.

At this moment, this instant, only the radiance remains.

This radiance will turn into a torrent of destruction and devour Xue Qilin and Xi He at once.

Faced with this overwhelming existence, Xue Qilin broke out in cold sweat. She hasn’t broken out in cold sweat for a long time. Judging by the dignified look in the eyes of Xi He who is standing next to her, she evidently doesn’t have it easy either.

“How do I kill you?”

Jia Lan walked back and forth with her hands behind her back.

She eventually stopped and clapped her hands.

“I got it!”

She revealed a queer smile.

“I’ll pummel you into meat patties!”

“Yo yo yo, that’s in bad taste! Aren’t you talking a bit too much?”

Xue Qilin raised her sword and pointed at Jia Lan.

Using provocative words to cause the other side to lose their cool and produce a flaw – Xue Qilin employed a trick she doesn’t like to use.

Jia Lan was stunned a first, and then apologized with a smile.

“You guy are so eager to turn into meat patties, how rude of me.”

The lass swayed her head as if listening to the most beautiful symphony.

“Now let’s start fighting.”

Along with the rumble of the ground collapsing, Jia Lan’s figure disappeared from the field of vision.

“…!”

So fast! Xue Qilin’s eyes widened.

That is no longer something that can be described as fast, but as teleportation.

The red eyes glowing with joy have already arrived.

Two radiant palm imprints slowly slammed towards Xue Qilin and Xi He at the same time.

Xue Qilin blocked with her sword, trying to interfere with the trajectory of the other party’s palm.

However, it’s already too late.

The palm appears very slow, so why can’t she keep up?

Because Xue Qilin is slower than the other party.

Then what about magic?

It’s also too late.

She doesn’t even have time to recite a single word of an incantation.

Xue Qilin watched helplessly Jia Lan’s palm close in on her chest. If she is hit directly, she may be pushed to the brink of death.

But death didn’t strike.

It shrank back just before it touched Xue Qilin.

Jia Lan kicked off the ground violently and quickly backed away.

Because… it’s raining.

As if daytime has returned, the darkness in the sky dissipated.

Billows of light descended from the sky.

Countless shooting star-like arrows landed in front of Xue Qilin.

Rumbles reverberated endlessly in the land. The land was gouged out and smashed, and sand and rocks flying blurred the view. Affected by the shock wave, Xue Qilin raised her arms and waited for the destruction to end.

When the surroundings regained their calm, Xue Qilin put down her hands blocking in front of her face and looked ahead.

Smoke and dust fill the space, and many holes can be seen in the ground. In the center of it all, there is a darksteel arrow stabbed deep into the ground. Just the exposed part is already the length of a small spear. With it as the center, dense cracks spread in all directions.

A single arrow cannot cower the sky.

In the rain of arrows just now, with the exception of the darksteel arrow, most of the arrows were made of true qi.

Numb the enemy with the rain of light arrows and hide the real attack in the rain of arrows. If the enemy lets their guard down because the power of each true qi arrow in the rain of light arrows isn’t great, then the darksteel arrow will tell them what death is all about.

Jia Lan didn’t leave the range of the rain of arrows in time.

But she is nonetheless unscathed.

Was it because she didn’t look down on the surprise attack, or was it that she was hit directly yet still came out unscathed? Xue Qilin doesn’t know the answer, she doesn’t know the course of events.

“‘Moonlight Omnia’, you’re in the way.”

Revulsion flashed across Jia Lan’s face.

Then she sighed.

“Things never go as planned… I’m no longer in the mood.”

Without waiting for Xue Qilin’s response, Jia Lan’s figure became blurred and ultimately disappeared.

She left, and together with the terrifying aura, disappeared out of Xue Qilin’s range of perception.

“Are you alright?”

Xue Qilin looked at Xi He.

Seeing the other party silently look in a certain direction, she followed her gaze.

Somewhere in the distance, a white glow gradually vanished in the dark.

It is the radiance of another Grandmaster.

Anyway, Xue Qilin was saved.

As soon as she relaxed her stretched taut body, Xue Qilin lost her strength and slumped on the ground.

Xue Qilin recognizes the faint aura lingering in the surroundings.

“I owe her again. Looks like I have to make a trip…
