I Do What I Can (2)
‘How can I forget that damn voice?’
The one who had spent 22 years brooding in the Rocky Mountains burst into hatred and anger!
The young Korean charged forward.
“I finally found you!”
His sword howled, and the earth vibrated.
“Hey, you son of a bitch!”
The giant muscular warrior swirled like a storm, emitting and attacking with brilliant red light.
“Huh? Huh?”
In bewilderment, the armored angel was pushed back indefinitely.
‘What?’
He didn’t get it.
Why did this person from Latna show such hatred to him?
Of course, there was nothing strange about it.
The foolish Latnains could not tell the difference between the mercy of Omphalos and the invasion of the Devil.
So it was natural for a man who considered himself being invaded to hate and kill the apostle of Omphalos. He was a resident of this world, after all.
Yeah, there was nothing strange about it. That was for sure.
‘… But why is he acting so weird?’
There was no time or opening to fight back against such a formidable offensive. The Sword King’s sword was exerting such tremendous pressure.
“Take this!”
Ryu Han-bin burst out with a war cry while Ectos was still confused.
“I had to keep practicing these skills because of you, you bastard!”
His Blade Aura divided the world.
-Crosscut!
It then tore the world apart vertically.
-Vertical Cut!
Finally, it pierced through the world.
-Stab!
Ryu Han-bin, who kept remembering his pain during his stay at the Rocky Mountains, continued his offensive.
-Triple Cross Attack, Cross impact!
The cross of destruction was engraved on Ectos’s silver armor.
The screams of the apostle burst out.
“Argh!”
Gold blood splashed all over the place, and his wings were torn to shreds.
Barely recovering his stance, Ectos’s eyes lit up.
“You… You bastard!”
Brilliant light enveloped his body, and all of his wounds disappeared.
“The Lord has blessed this body!”
The apostle of the Devil, who had healed his injuries in an instant, counterattacked.
“How dare you think you can touch me!”
* * *
The huge city collapsed and burned as two monsters ran wild amid the ruins.
Boom!
Every time they clashed, the sky was torn, and the earth cracked due to the shock. Flames rose, and heatwaves ran rampant.
Ryu Han-bin kept swinging his Gigant, his mind focused.
‘The Guideline is not responding.’
Experienced warriors could separate emotions from reason.
Ryu Han-bin had reached that league. Despite his excitement, he was calmly analyzing Ectos.
‘Doesn’t it work against the power of the devil?’
He tried to figure out his opponent’s level with the Guideline earlier, but there was no response.
It wasn’t the same as Kibie’s case, where her level was shown as unknown.
It didn’t work at all, just as it didn’t recognize roadside rocks or vegetation.
Well, it wasn’t a big deal.
‘I’ve got a rough idea.’
Thanks to his broken Guideline, he had learned swordsmanship step by step like Latnains did.
He could infer the strength of the opponent and the flow of energy to some extent.
‘Roughly around level 140?’
His foe was at a similar level to himself before he activated his Valtara’s Fighting Spirit.
Of course, he had to keep in mind that there would be hidden powers…
‘I’ll have to use mine first anyway!’
Han-bin pulled up all of his Aura at once.
-Valtara’s Fighting Spirit!
Formidable pressure hovered all over his body, tearing parts of his skin and causing him to bleed since he had only mastered 90% of it.
He didn’t use the Four-Power Conversion Belt on purpose.
There might be another enemy strong enough to warrant the use of the Heavenly Sword. He could only use it once a day, so he had to properly time its activation.
He had gotten used to that much pain anyways.
“Ahhhh!”
With a burst of energy, Han-bin swung Gigant.
-Sword King Swordsmanship, Dog-Beating Style First Form: Random Cut!
Ectos was already being pushed back before, and that was before he used his fighting spirit.
“Ugh! Ugh!”
His movements became disoriented.
More and more loopholes and gaps were revealed.
Wounds formed, but light erased them. That kept going on nonstop.
“You… You bastard!”
Han-bin didn’t care whether the opponent recovered or not.
‘I thought he’d decide to run away…’
Valtara’s Pierce, Valtara’s Cross, and Valtara’s Hack.
“I’ll keep destroying you!”
The Valtara’s Three Swords emanated a dazzling light.
Ryu Han-bin’s mouth also spewed abusive language.
“Because of you, huh? Because of you!”
Falling behind in spirit, falling behind in strength, even in purpose.
“Good job, you son of a bitch!”
In the ensuing explosions and roars, Ectos was just confused.
‘What the hell is this guy talking about…’
He was sure of one thing, at least.
At this rate, he would lose.
His life didn’t matter, but to run from him as an apostle of the great Devil was to leave his master with indelible shame.
“I can’t have that!”
Ectos gave off a brilliant glow.
“Hmm?”
Feeling weirded out by it, Ryu Han-bin widened the distance slightly.
It was something different from the golden light so far. It felt more holy and transcendent.
‘That’s the light!’
With a voice that seemed to deal with the most insignificant beings…
-Suitable person number 398, dimension transition initiated.
The light that pushed Ryu Han-bin away from Earth!
Ectos exclaimed cheerfully.
“Foolish Latna’s mortal…”
Omphalos had distributed some of his power to his apostles.
It was a great divinity that was only allowed to be used against truly powerful adversaries.
“Taste the true power of God!”
Ryu Han-bin nodded.
“So, you’re saying that’s divine power, right?”
He swung his Gigant at him.
-Lord Throughout Heaven and Earth!
An invisible force engulfed Ectos.
The expression of the proud angel became strangely twisted.
“… Huh?”
The brilliance disappeared.
The power of the great Omphalos also disappeared.
All that was left was the apostle of the Devil, who had been beaten all along.
“Argh!”
An ambiguous cry broke out, almost like a scream.
Now Ectos knew who the individual in front of him was.
He wasn’t from Latna. He was one of the chosen ones.
To be more specific…
“You…”
He was that guy!
His only mistake, and his only error that should never be revealed!
“You’re still alive? How?”
Ryu Han-bin smiled brightly.
“Now you recognize me?”
* * *
Ectos was astonished.
‘Ahhhhhh…’
He remembered.
The first mistake in carrying out the command of the great Devil.
The first error that an apostle should never make.
He should have reported it as dictated by the rules and should have been punished afterward.
He should’ve endured the pain by being burnt as a consequence.
But he didn’t report it.
He had been looking at the people on Earth for too long.
They had wisdom that the apostles themselves did not have.
So he had learned the wisdom of ‘indolence.’
-Oh, maybe one is okay. There are hundreds of people. Can they hear me?
So he had learned the wisdom of ‘arrogance.’
-He’s going to die soon anyway.
-I’ll erase all the information before I get caught.
In fear, Ectos spread his wings.
He couldn’t stay there any longer. He didn’t dare stare at his mistake with his own eyes.
“Argh!”
The angel flew up screaming.
Ryu Han-bin’s eyebrows furrowed.
“You think I’ll let you go?”
He narrowed the distance in an instant and reached out to him. A thick hand grabbed Ectos’s ankle.
“Haaaaaaa!”
Han-bin threw the giant angel to the ground.
“Argh!”
With a groan, Ectos struggled.
It was no use. The grip of the man who should have died before held him firmly as if it was fated.
“Hahahaha…”
With a bizarre smile, Ryu Han-bin held his Gigant high. The fighting spirit Aura shone dark red.
At that moment, Ectos flew away.
“Argh!”
The angel headed to the sky, scattering golden holy blood.
Han-bin was speechless, looking at the limb of Ectos in his right hand.
“That bastard…”
He escaped by cutting off his leg.
Ectos soared into the air, and Ryu Han-bin looked around.
“Is there anything useful?”
There was.
It was a two-story building that was pulled from the bottom due to the battle between the two.
Han-bin quickly put the Gigant on the floor. A red Aura surrounded the entire building, causing it to shine brightly.
Han-bin threw the entirety of it through the sky.
Boom…
With Gigant lying on his side, he then launched a powerful ball of Aura!
-Sword King Swordsmanship, Dog-Beating Style Fourth Form: Meteor Storm!
Boom!
A magnificent ball, spanning tens of meters in diameter, burst forth.
Ectos turned pale.
‘What the hell is this?’
Amid the confusion, he responded to the incoming offensive.
‘Come, angels of Omphalos!’
Countless beings of his kind blocked the meteorite from flying in.
Dozens or hundreds of angels threw themselves in its path, their bodies relentlessly splitting up and their blood splitting up.
Boom!
Eventually, the two-story building lost momentum and began to fall back. In the meantime, Ectos grew farther and farther away.
Ryu Han-bin frowned.
‘Is it because I got hurt? He isn’t that fast.’
There was still a chance to chase him.
‘Effir can do…’
But he gave up his greed.
At that moment, he had to save even just one more citizen.
Revenge permeated to his bones, but the lives of the common folks were more important.
If he were the person in the past, he would have put his personal interest first…
“Is it because the Dragon I met here is such a nice guy?”
Han-bin abandoned his lingering feelings and turned his attention elsewhere.
Still, other groups were inducing people to evacuate throughout the city.
Among them, a beautiful black-haired woman, Kibie, ran nearby.
Looking at Han-bin approaching, Kibie asked.
“How was it? What happened to the apostle of the Devil?”
“He went home. I met him before.”
“… Huh?”
She didn’t understand what he meant. Kibie tilted her head.
Smiling, Ryu Han-bin raised his right hand.
“That’s all he left behind.”
It was Ectos’s severed right leg.
“Why did I bring it all the way here?”
He tried to throw the leg away.
“Is this his leg?”
“Yes, why?”
Kibie cried out in joy.
“Good job!”
So far, she hadn’t found an answer because she knew nothing.
“If I use Shadow-Reading on this, I’ll be able to get information!”
* * *
Genovia murmured as she watched the screen of light.
“Ectos has been beaten.”
Omphalos also nodded.
“That’s possible for the Top Four.”
“Isn’t that a problem?”
Omphalos said it was nothing and pointed to Han-bin’s group.
“They’re the toughest leather and the hardest bones.”
Such a fine material was always usable. He couldn’t throw them away recklessly.
“Ectos did very well.”
The screen was starting to blur.
As Ectos and the angels departed, so did the panoramic view of Armorica.
Genovia thought, ‘Did he do a good job?’
She couldn’t say anything because Omphalos had complimented him directly, but honestly, Ectos’s attitude was a little annoying.
‘That’s exactly what my men used to do whenever their feelings differ from the objective…’
But she didn’t bother to talk about it.
Didn’t Omphalos tell her already?
He was not Latna’s deity. Hence, she couldn’t judge him by her standards.
