“Did you just open that beer with Stormbreaker?” Dio asked judgingly. Fat Thor didn’t say anything as he put down the Stormbreaker and sat back down on his gaming chair, eating his snacks once again.
His personality changed for the worse after he blamed himself and got nowhere to vent his anger. However, he got nowhere to hide either!
“Let’s just go, Natasha! We are done here!” Dio said coldly. He was thoroughly disappointed by Thor’s situation and didn’t see any point in convincing him to return either! Thor was so fat that even if he picked his Stormbreaker again, he wouldn’t be like he used to. Furthermore, those who didn’t have it in them to continue fighting wouldn’t bring the Avengers anywhere!
No wonder Valkyrie didn’t really care about Thor anymore. She had seen enough out of Thor already! Unless the Grandmaster suddenly appeared in front of Thor, the Stormbreaker would only become a bottle opener!
When Dio and Natasha finally left Thor’s house, Thor chugged the beer in his hand and threw the bottle away. His expression suddenly turned blue as he was extremely sad by the disappointment he had caused. Odin, Frigga, Loki, Heimdall, and even Hela! His former companion Hogun, Valstagg, Fandrall, and Sif! Everyone he held dear already left him to Valhalla!
He couldn’t protect anyone in his life! What Son of Odin? What new king of Asgard? He couldn’t even protect the people close to him, how can he manage the entire Asgard? The beautiful Asgard was now burned to ashes, and now, the people he brought to Earth have to work for just a little food! It was so miserable!
He knew that the more adversity the Asgardians faced, the more they needed him to lead them, but Thor didn’t have the heart to do something like that anymore. He didn’t have the confidence! The disappointed look on Dio’s face earlier pierced his heart like an arrow, but he has lost all hopes! He just wanted to wither away and die by himself, but he knew that he couldn’t do so as it was a mockery to the people who died before him!
But alas, Thor has planned to pass the throne to Valkyrie as soon as Asgard was rebuilt. He would leave and try to find his own calling once more. After all, Valkyrie was far more suitable for the throne than him, and it would definitely help Asgard prosper!
This was the last thing Thor could do for Asgard after all the disappointments he had caused.
“I am so sorry, Father! I still let you down in the end! I am not a qualified son to take your throne, nor am I a qualified brother! But I will burn my own life to defend Asgard! I hope that you will forgive my cowardice!” Thor said to himself while holding his head down.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
On the other hand, after returning to the base, Natasha disclosed the current situation to Steve and tried to find a way to return Thor as the God of Thunder like he was before the catastrophe. But Steve also shared the same opinion with Dio as he didn’t see how Thor would be useful after becoming obese like that. Unless they still had a lot of time for Thor to recuperate and got back to his peak condition, which they didn’t have, unfortunately, Thor would be useless!
Now, they could only hope that everything wouldn’t get any worse!
But things weren’t looking very good as Tony himself was already going AWOL since his daughter was born! He no longer contacted Avengers Base and cooped up inside his small patch of forest, raising his daughter wholeheartedly. If Tony had already fully adapted to the peaceful time, Iron Man, too, would cease to exist!
But then again, it was something that the Avengers had to solve themselves. As for Dio, he had to carry out the next step of his plan! He sought Natasha and Steve to say his goodbye for now.
“You leaving?” Natasha asked in surprise.
“The Earth no longer needs me. If I stay here any longer, it would only make things more difficult. If the countries around the world keep poking me, I won’t be able to stay idle either! I am afraid I won’t have the patience to pretend I care about their bullshit. Before I am thoroughly annoyed and create my own nation, it is better for me to leave.” Dio said with a smile on his face. Obviously, he was joking, but Natasha and Steve’s expressions seemed complicated as they knew that Dio could just do as he said. They wouldn’t doubt anything that Dio said he could do.
“I believe that day would never come, indeed!” Steve solemnly said as he looked at Dio.
“Well, it might happen if they push me too far, but still, I have to leave because of some urgent matter that I need to solve. Furthermore, it’s better for me to stay out there to find the Grandmaster!” Dio said with a smile on his face.
“Are you sure about this?” Natasha asked worriedly.
“In one way, finding the Grandmaster wouldn’t be impossible, but taking the Infinity Stones out of his hand is another matter altogether,” Dio said casually. He was still quite unsure how to find the Grandmaster, and thus, Dio knew that snatching the Infinity Stones would be out of the question for now.
“Still, it is better for us to act together! Our odds are higher if we stay together!” Steve said as he tried to persuade Dio to stay.
“There would be more casualties on my part! I have my own plan to follow, and I am afraid your sense of justice wouldn’t allow you to join my cause! If I succeed, I will get an immediate result, but if I fail, we would have trouble finding the Grandmaster manually!” Dio said solemnly.
“But, it is my own burden to take! I believe that you will find a better way for everyone!” Dio said as he smiled at Steve.
A day later, the Dark Battleship departed to space once again! It was time for Dio to find the Grandmaster himself!
