Chapter 87 – Made The Decision (做得了主)
Jing Yunzhao’s words dumbfounded everyone and their jaws dropped. There were even people who started laughing, shaking their heads in mockery while pointing at Jing Yunzhao.
They had previously heard from Qiao Weimin that this girl was insensible. But seeing this scene play before them they thought, it’s just as he had said!
“Little girl, it’s not 200,000 hell notes (T/N: spirit money) ah!” Someone roared in laughter.
Old Li carried the large antique jar, refusing to let go of his treasure. He also felt a little embarrassed. He may be an honest person, but he would not allow himself to be bullied so easily. If the person in front of him was not a girl, he too would start giving her a dressing-down.
Jing Yunzhao was not bothered by the people who were making fun of her. She just fished out a packet envelope. “If you feel that it’s too troublesome to transfer the money via the bank, I can also pay you in cash. The money is all in here, may I take the item now?”
Old Li felt that bank transfer was the safer option compared to payment by cash. After all, there were quite a number of people here. The old uncle felt that walking around with so much cash on him would definitely hold some risk.
“Cold hard cash?!” In a split second, the people who were mocking them just now stood up, and nearly choking on their food in disbelief.
They watched as Jing Yunzhao opened the packet envelope, only to reveal twenty neatly packed stack of notes. As if she was afraid that the receiving party would think it was fake, Jing Yunzhao swiftly placed the red packet into his hands so he could double check the money. She then hastily took the porcelain jar from him.
Even though this Old Li had put the selling price as ¥200,000, he never expected to actually be able to sell the jar. Now that he had sold the jar, he was absolutely dumbstruck.
The stacks of red colored old men (T/N: Their paper notes are printed with an old man in the front and the ¥100 notes are red in color so that’s how they describe it sometimes) made Old Li’s eyes turn red. He touched them hesitantly, showering it with the utmost of care. With every sheet of real money, he felt that a ray of hope had descended for his old wife/partner.
However, when he finally came out from his shock, he remembered that the owner of this ¥200,000 was this little lass.
He once again sighed heavily, “I may be in need of money, but I cannot just take your money so easily. Little girl, your parents surely do not know of this, do they…”
“Uncle, relax. The origins of this money are clear. Also, I do not have any parents, I make my own decisions over my own money,” Jing Yunzhao reassured.
“Is this true?” Old Li still did not believe her.
“In this small marketplace, there are many who knows of me. You would definitely know as long as you ask.” She had clearly heard every whispered gossip spoken about her just now.
Once she spoke, many people nodded suspiciously. “Old Li, just accept this girl’s goodwill and take the money. She used to be a child of the Qiao family, but she isn’t their biological child. After finding out, Qiao Weimin chased her out of the house. Now she lives alone, so this money definitely has nothing to do with Qiao Weimin.”
The one speaking had a good relationship with Old Li and knew of his family’s situation.
As Jing Yunzhao heard him say that ‘she got chased out of the house’, her heart chilled. Qiao Weimin was someone who loved his face so much, he definitely said it like that on purpose to save his reputation.
“Th-then, I will really take it?” Old Li asked cautiously.
Jing Yunzhao nodded. “Uncle, I heard that your wife is sick right? May I ask about her condition?”
“I don’t really know the medical term for it, I only know that she often has headaches. Every day, her head would hurt till she saw stars but she refuses to utter a word of complaint. Every night, she would not be able to sleep well for the whole night. The doctors don’t recommend her to have surgery, thus we usually rely on some medicine. However, the medicine is too expensive. Moreover, the moment she doesn’t eat it, her condition would relapse and her condition would worsen. Right now, I’m also stuck between a rock and a hard place. This ¥200,000 is only barely enough for her to be stable for a short period of time…” Old Li’s expression turned dark and gloomy as he sighed once more.
Jing Yunzhao frowned slightly and nodded. She took out a piece of paper and wrote down Grandpa Gan’s number down. She originally wanted to write her own name down, but with her age, no one would trust her.
“This is a doctor I know, if you ever need help you can look for him…”
“Jing Yunzhao! You cheap slut! You dare to hide so much money behind my back!” someone shouted when they were about ten metres away. She had not even finished her sentence when someone rushed towards her from afar.
