Chapter 349

349- Genius (天才)

The courtyard was large enough for them to set up two long tables in the middle. On them were different kinds of auxiliary materials and tools one would need when making medicine. Even a boiler was provided.

However, what the first round tested wasn’t on their skill at making medicine, but on their memory.

Jing Yun Zhao stepped into her position and only saw a book on the table. The book wasn’t thick with the cover completely white, and there was no way to see what was written in it. Sun Yan’s was naturally the same. The two of them were sure that, after being isolated by the person asking the questions, they would not be able to receive any news in advance.

Everyone said that Sun Yan was bright and knew everything after just being taught once with her highly retentive memory.

This was Sun Yan’s strong point, so obviously, Jing Yun Zhao chose it as a subject for the competition.

In fact, the so-called ‘highly retentive memory’ can sometimes be cultivated. For example, she spent a lot of time on her books since she was a child. Once there are many things to remember, the speed of retaining the memory will become faster. Before being reborn, her memory was already very good. If it was something simple and not very complicated, she would basically be able to remember it just by looking at it once. After her rebirth, there was her space, and the absorption of the Spirit Jades made it truly unforgettable.

Just one book was a piece of cake for her to memorize. If she looked at it a few more times, it would be imprinted in her memory and wouldn’t forget about it for a long time.

“In your hands now are the contents of the first round of competition. In it contains the names of all kinds of medical herbs and you need to memorize it and their order. You have five minutes to memorize it, and 20 minutes to write it down based on what you remember. Once time is up, the party with the most written down and the least mistake wins. I trust that you have no further questions?” One of the elders in the panel spoke up.

This method of competing was the simplest, but the names of the herbs weren’t easy things to remember. They still had to write it down based on their memory and in the correct sequence, the difficulty was quite high.

Sun Yan instantly nodded. Her memory had never been a problem for her.

Even if something went wrong in the middle, she would still be better than Jing Yun Zhao.

Jing Yun Zhao just had better grades, that’s all. She was different. She had begun to memorize these things since she was tongue and because of that, everyone called her a genius.

Similarly, Jing Yun Zhao also nodded in agreement.

Once the two gave their confirmations, someone below blew on their whistle and started the clock!

Towards the first round of this competition, there actually weren’t that many spectators. After all, it only relied on the contestants memory and this was something that one was born with. They had already witnessed Sun Yan’s intelligence previously, and as for Jing Yun Zhao, she probably wouldn’t be up to par.

Still, one’s memory was still important. If one was stupid and clumsy, their speed of improvement would naturally be slow.

In their line, the chances of interacting with herbs don’t matter in victory. It was important to know what kind of herb could have what kind of uses and benefits. If one couldn’t even do that, then they shouldn’t even dare to think about making use of them!

The surroundings fell into a pin drop silence. No one dared to break the silence, afraid that they would interrupt the two’s memorization and concentration by accident.

The two held the thin book in their hands, and everyone could only see that the speed at which they flipped their pages was very fast.

Ji Shan Shan and Tong Yan were nearby because they held onto the ginseng, but their hearts were also beating like drums.

Sun Yan’s speed was just a tad slower than Jing Yun Zhao’s, but Jing Yun Zhao’s speed was a little too much unless her eyes were scanners. Could she really memorize everything in the book so easily?

Meanwhile, Jing Yun Zhao’s mind was turning at the speed of light.

In her mind, these herbs were arranged categorically. Everytime she thought about these herbs, she would also subconsciously think about what properties it had and those memories would compartmentalize itself in her mind.
