"Ugh...where the hell...no, Valentina!" Damien quickly got up frantically, but he found himself sitting on a bed.

As he looked around, he saw that he was in a simple but graceful room that didn't look too grand.

He quickly got on his feet and inspected himself to see if his cultivation was sealed or something. Fortunately, he found that he could still use his cultivation.

"Luna, what all happened, and where am I? Did they do anything to Valentina?" Damien asked mentally.

Damien was worried whether Valentina was fine as the last thing he remembered was her being knocked unconscious.

"Relax. Valentina is safe, and they took you pretty far away from the city to some low-key area. All they did was put you on the bed and leave." Luna said plainly.

Damien then remembered something and quickly took out his messaging talisman. But just as he expected, there was some kind of barrier around that made him unable to send any messages to Valentina.

His heart became tenser as he thought about how Valentina was left alone. He couldn't imagine how she must be feeling to have him suddenly disappear again. He had promised her he would never leave her alone again, and yet here he was hundreds of miles away from her.

However, he had instructed Valentina in case he disappeared, she should at least wait one day before searching for him. He made her promise as he knew she wouldn't be able to stay inside for more than a day without knowing his whereabouts. He would also be the same had he been in her shoes.

He already knew she went through a traumatic event because he was not near her. Because of that, she was even more afraid of whether he would leave her alone again.

'These bastards....' He got furious, thinking why these Forsaken people had to kidnap him. Even when he didn't get involved with them in the slightest, they still took him for some reason which he did not care about finding out.

All he wanted now was to escape from here and quickly reunite with Valentina.

*Klick*

However, the door suddenly opened, and a young girl dressed in plain clothes bowed just like a maid and said, "Master Damien, please forgive our mmhhhh…"

The girl's eyes widened when Damien suddenly zoomed forward and clutched her neck while clamping down her mouth.

"Tell me, why did you people bring me here, or I will break your neck," Damien said with a cold stare.

The girl started to tear up in terror, and Damien noticed that she even started wetting herself.

"Tsk…" He clicked his tongue in frustration as he let go of her and hit her nape as she dropped on the floor unconscious.

From her eyes, he could see that she was not an important member of the Forsaken group, nor did she have any knowledge of what he wanted to know.

He cautiously looked outside the door and saw a small hall that looked ordinary, just like the room. He only saw a small doorway on the other side and quickly made a dash for it.

*Bump!*

But just as he tried to pass through the doorway, he was thrown back as if he hit against something solid and bouncy.

'A barrier!' Damien shouted in his mind as he realized that he was basically imprisoned inside a hall with a single room.

Just as he got up, he saw three cloaked figures approaching the doorway. He quickly recognized them as the ones whom he had met in the alley.

One of them had an azure mask, while the other two had sky blue masks.

Triton spoke in an apologetic tone, "Damien Godwin, we apologize for restraining you, but we had to make sure you do not run away. Blake, please remove the barrier so that we can talk to our friend here."

Blake seemed as if he was hesitant, but he sighed and removed the barrier seeing that the situation was in control. After all, it wasn't as if Damien could try anything or try to escape before them.

Damien scoffed, "Friend? You kidnapped me in the dead of night, separated me from Valentina, held me here against my will. Is this how you treat your friends? Now, I don't care why you brought me here, but you people should let me go."

Triton said in a mild tone, "That's why I apologized for our rude treatment, and rest assured, we already left a note with Valentina saying that you would return safely soon. You don't need to think that we meant to harm you because you know things would have been different if that was the case. We wanted to approach you in a different manner, but time is so short that we were left with no other choice and also because we thought it would be harder to convince you."

Damien felt a bit relieved that they at least left a note with Valentina, and he also speculated that these people brought him here because they needed something from him.

But he wondered what a large and powerful group like the Forsaken needed from a Nascent Ethereal Realm cultivator like him who couldn't make much of a difference right now. He couldn't see how the Forsaken can use him to affect the Xeton Empire.

Damien narrowed his gaze, "Why should I even listen to you people and trust your words? I don't even know you people, and you are all hiding behind masks while you all know me clearly and well. All I know is you people are a bunch of terrorists who seek to destroy the Xeton Empire. Besides, I won't forget how you people almost killed me in that explosion as well."

Triton sighed, "We can understand why you would find it hard to trust our words, but you are wrong about the fact that we are terrorists. But you are right that we seek to destroy the Xeton Empire. I am sorry, but we didn't expect you to be there in that place at that time. After realizing that you were there, I tried to stop the explosion from happening, but there was some miscommunication, and my people couldn't stop the blast in time. But even if you did not happen to escape in time, Blake was ready to move in and rescue you. To make sure that you can start building some confidence in us, I will start with myself."

Triton removed his masked, and an elegant and eminently handsome face came into sight. His brows were slender as the new moon, and his hair was as black as ink. His black eyes were like autumn waters, bearing a charm that was out of this world.

In all, he seemed to look around twenty years old and even his whole demeanor seemed poised and elegant.

Damien was astonished by the sight of the handsome dude in front of him, which he was sure could attract both men and girls alike and turn their heads down before his superior charms.

Triton also seemed almost as tall as him, but of course, Damien thought he still possessed more manly charms.

"Master Triton! This is not safe, we—" Blake became anxious seeing that Triton revealed his face to Damien.

Triton raised his hand, "It's fine. As Damien said, he won't be able to trust us if we also don't trust him. We have to build our trust from somewhere after all."

Blake sighed and said, "Then we will also follow you, Master Triton." He removed his mask, and the other cloaked figure also removed their mask.

Blake looked to be in his forties with a small beard, and the other figure was surprisingly a woman with a gentle look who seemed to be in her late thirties.

Damien raised one of his brows, and he could feel that Triton seemed sincere about his words.

He was surprised at what made Triton so eager to trust him.

But he wondered whether he should get involved with these people in the first place. What if he invites more trouble to himself.

But when he thought about how they also have the same goal as him, he decided to at least hear them out.

"Good. Now tell me why you people brought me here."

Triton faintly smiled, "Sure. Why don't you take a walk with me?"
