Chapter 466
466 – Five Divine Revelations
“Dragon-god-sama!”
“Kishii!”
As I return to the waterfall cavern, Aro and the black lizard run up to me. I put my chin on the ground to let them jump and hug the side of my face.
Looking around, I see that the nightmare has been stringing up her thread… I need to be careful not to break it by accident. If I put her in a bad mood, it could last a while. Still, I wonder if there are any monsters around here that a spiderweb could work against?
I see Volk eating some raw fenrir meat, but I have nothing to say. Since we have such a large quantity of meat, it would be nice to get some salt from the sea and preserve some.
Aro suddenly separates from my cheek. Glancing at her, I see that she’s scrutinising my body.
…It feels a little uncomfortable, or rather it’s embarrassing to be examined so closely. What is it? Is there something strange?
“…The length of your hairs and the arrangement of your scales are a little different.”
Y-you can tell!? I guess it’s the result of being pushed so hard by the clay guardian’s [Direct Burst]. I made sure to restore everything with [Autoregeneration] not to worry anyone, but she noticed right away.
“…Don’t push yourself too hard… If dragon-god-sama died, I don’t know what I would do.”
I lift my head up a bit, then bow in apology.
“Guruuuu…”
『S-sorry… I hurried a bit too much.』
Upon seeing the exchange between Aro and me, the black lizard hastily begins pouring over my body… N-not noticing is normal.
『Right… Aro, do you know where treant-san is? I’d like to gather everyone together. My level’s reached the maximum, so I plan on evolving now.』
As I ask Aro through [Telepathy], a tree at the edge of my vision turns around to face me. It’s treant-san. So you were listening in. Were you sunbathing?
While Aro explains to Volk and the nightmare, I’ll check out my evolution options… Whatever I choose as my next species will be the form in which I have to fight Lilixira and Beelzebub.
【Should the evolution options be displayed?】
It’s been a long time since I’ve heard that message. Go ahead, show me my evolution options. I don’t know to what extent this is as you want, God’s Voice, but I’ll dance in the palm of your hand for now.

…So I have five options to choose from. That’s quite a lot.
Jabberwock and Yig are a lower rank than Ziz, Oneiros, and Sins. I’ll check their details, but unless they’re exceptional somehow, I’ll exclude them as options. Let’s start from the low ranks. It would have been bad if there was nothing but A+ ranks, but I’m relieved that legendary ranks are up there too.
【Yig:[1] Rank A+】
【A slender, azure dragon. Its tongue is terrifyingly long.】
【It excels at the poison and paralysis status conditions, and is itself almost immune to status conditions.】
【Moreover, it can cast a curse that creates a vast quantity of snakes inside the body of its target, which can then be commanded freely.】
【As the curse utilises the target’s health, the [Yig]’s own mana consumption is minimal.】
【In many cases, the target’s sanity is eroded before their health runs out.】
【Due to its nature of producing a vast quantity of kin, the damage that accompanies its appearance is always extensive.】
【However, moreso than the number of kin, what humankind fears most is being caught by the [Yig].】
…A strong one has appeared right off the bat. I-I guess I’d rather avoid this one. As a yig, I’d probably be forced to fight by creating huge numbers of sacrificial kin to trap my opponents while slowly tormenting them to death. It sounds…strong, but a bit too much for me. B-besides, it’s only A+.
【Jabberwock: Rank A+】
【Its snapping teeth are a column of giant swords, and its raking claws are a bundle of giant spears.】
【All who meet its evil eye burn to ash, its breath causes entire countries to rot, and the flick of its tail causes earthquakes.】
【An evil dragon, its entire body is a cursed weapon.】
【Its overwhelming destructive power is unrivalled by any other monster.】
…If I remember right, it’s the same name as I once saw in a skill explanation ages ago.[2] It looks like it’s entirely an attack-specialised dragon. It’s only A+, but in my experience, attack specialists are strong, and have the potential to take down stronger rank opponents. I won’t prioritise it for now, but… It’s not completely out of the question.
【Ziz:[3] Rank L (Legendary)】
【A gigantic dragon that possesses a lustrous sparkling plumage.】
【Due to its overwhelming size, it is feared as [The One Who Blots Out the Sun].】
【During combat, it clads itself in [Hellfire Armour], and as a result, lesser fighters cannot so much as approach.】
【Its flight ability is high, so it excels at unilaterally raining down a barrage of long-range attacks.】
This one might be rather strong… A good flight ability is a significant point in its favour. Its fire attacks might also be able to make up for my misgivings with [Wind Slash].
I can expect a lot from its defensive abilities too, thanks to its [Hellfire Armour]. That skill would also give me an advantage in close combat. Since the flames would continuously protect me, it should serve to keep Beelzebub’s [Inhaala] and [Storm of the Fly King] combo in check. This option sounds quite good…
【[Oneiros:[4] Rank L (Legendary)]】
【Also known as the [Dream Dragon]. According to legend, it is said to be the dragon that rules over the world of dreams.】
【Freely wielding light, gravity, and space, it fights through powerful magic.】
【The [Oneiros]’s magic is said to transform the area around it into another world.】
【It excels at changing its appearance to hide and toy with its opponents, while also blasting them apart with immensely powerful magic skills.】
This one sounds like another tricksy type. From what I know, a lot of the gravity-type magic skills are powerful. If I combine that level of firepower with Legendary-tier stats, battles could become easy. However… I do worry that it might be a little weak at close combat.
I already have various skills, but I still usually end up punching and kicking my way out of fights… That might have been mostly because my partner controlled most our magic skills, but as a result, I’m not confident I’ll be able to make the best use of it.
Now then, the next one is the last…
【[Sins: Rank L (Legendary)]】
【In ancient times, it once drove humanity to the brink of extinction and ushered in a world of monsters.】
【A dragon that is said to have appeared as punishment for man’s original sin.】
【The dispositions of each of its seven heads are different, as they govern [Pride], [Greed], [Envy], [Wrath], [Lust], [Gluttony], and [Sloth].】
【In addition, although the physical abilities plummet and mana and health is continually consumed, each head can separate to act as an individual dragon.】
For a moment, my thoughts grind to a halt. A multi-headed dragon, huh. I see. It’s here this time too.
If I think about it calmly, since each head has its own specialisation, it might be an all-rounder type. It could be a complete miss, but… I don’t know how long ago it was that that ancient [Sins] was around, but if I’m to believe [God’s Voice], it should be significantly stronger than the Heroes and Saints of this era.
It depends on how practical the separation is, but if I were to use it effectively, I might be able to split into teams with Aro and the others and fight Lilixira and Beelzebub more efficiently. Though what scares me most is the prospect of each head getting killed separately. Being able to use [Travelling Companion] six times might be one of its strong points, but… I don’t want to factor that in my decision.
No, to be honest… There’s something that’s bothering me more than that. If I evolve into a [Sins], would my partner come back? Thinking about it normally, there’s no way that she could. She separated from my body, and then died.
…However, in this world dominated by the strange phenomena of skills and statuses, is it really impossible for evolution to bring her back?
I sit and think for a while. Which legendary option should I choose… Either way, this will probably be my final evolution.
