Without wasting another second, Qin Hua pounced towards both the beasts and sprinted towards them.

The two beasts immediately became alert and they could feel the weight of her strong presence.

All the hair on their hairy bodies stood erect and the two started to run in different directions.

[Not today. Woof.]

Qin Hua quickly summoned her clone and sent it after the insect which was flapping its metallic wings trying to fly away, while she ran towards the five-headed rat.

The rat tried running and when it saw that it couldn't possibly escape her, it started burrowing hurriedly, but before long...

[RIP]

Its five heads dropped onto the ground, still stuck together.

[Ha! I shouldn't get so agitated.] Qin Hua cooled her brain and then she turned to kill the other one using a [Dark Arrow] instead of running towards it blindly.

She could already feel the mana moving around her body much more smoothly. She had indeed been correct. Only passively absorbing mana all day wasn't too productive or efficient.

It looked like she needed to spend half the time doing some sort of training and half the time absorbing and assimilating the mana from the ores.

She clicked her tongue and aimed for the weird chimera insect which her clone was holding down. [Can I use my clone to kill it? Woof!]

The clone was definitely not as strong as her and it wasn't made of any physical body. All this time she had only used the clone for running around and keeping an eye on things.

But suddenly she was itching to try this out. She wanted to push all of her skills before she attempted that strange test gemstone given to her by the creepy ghost.

[Kill that.] She mentally commanded her clone.

Growl! The black wolf, which was a mirror image of her except for its purple eyes snapped its canines and bit into the insect.

The insect which was busy trying to run away all this time started to fight back as it realized that it did not have any other choice.

The clone's sharp black canines dipped into the insect's hard exoskeleton and though the clone clearly didn't have a physical body, at this time it was still able to piece and damage the beast.

<Ding. Shadow Cloning skill has upgraded to Level 2>

Qin Hua grinned at the unexpected surprise. [Woof! I knew it. Now I can make you fight for me too.]

[Hmmm… I should really test out all my other skills and level them like this too. Maybe there are other skills that can be easily leveled up like this.]

Ever since everything happened, they had barely had any chance to even catch their breath so she was unable to explore all the skills thoroughly.

But now that their condition had somewhat stabilized at least for the moment, Qin Hua decided to use it to her advantage.

[Being patient with those idiots was at least useful for this! Woof!]

Qin Hua quickly ran around their neighborhood hunting for more beasts and zombies along with her clone.

[Hmm… Now that I think about it, I have never tried making that lazy kitty fight. Purple, go bring Coco here. Woof.]

[Today all my minions will level. Woof.]

By the time Coco and Purple returned, it was already dawn and the first rays of the sun peered from the gaps within the tall trees and the lush greenery.

Qin Hua sucked in a big breath of fresh air. Unlike her, the cat was lazily rubbing its eyes as it had just woken up from a long nap.

Meow?

[Move it, Coco. Don't make me bite you! Woof!]

Meow?

The cat cocked its head and smiled, her threat not registering at all.

[Sigh. What am I going to do with you? Woof!]

[Follow me. Woof!]

The two wolves and the one cat then started running around the city hunting for beasts and zombies.

Meanwhile back in the labyrinth of tunnels, Lu Chen stretched his hands and legs as he had also been sitting in the same position for a while now.

He looked around and did not find Qin Hua or the cat. There was a small message scribbled on the floor that said 'gone for hunting'.

Heh. He chuckled running his hand through his hair that had grown a lot in these past several days. "It was nice of her to leave a message."

He decided to walk around and take a look at things. As he casually strolled through the tunnels, he could see that almost everyone was awake and doing one thing or the other.

Everyone was working hard. Just a few days before, they would have probably been fast asleep in the comfort of their homes, but now everything was different.

They had to work day and night for their survival or the new world would only devour them alive. Lu Chen sighed softly and then continued walking about.

At one end of the tunnel, he saw the elder Gao Sheng and the three young kids who were in the group. The four of them were busy doing something on the ground.

"What are they up to?" Lu Chen walked closer and saw the elder planting some seeds. The kids were helping him with it and they poured some water over the buried seeds.

"Senior Sheng, what is this?" Lu Chen curiously asked.

Seeing him, the elder immediately became anxious. "Ah. Sorry, Lu Chen. I should have asked you first before I started."

"Hmm? Don't worry about that. You don't have to check with me before doing small things like this. I was just curious is all."

The elder felt relieved and nodded with a smile. He then quickly explained.

"This is actually just some paddy, wheat, and corn seeds. Since outside plants and trees are growing abundantly, I wanted to see if we could grow crops faster too."

"And this place… Ummm… There was a mana core here previously, so…"
