Outside of the underground refugee, A women could be seen running around, desperately in search of something.
"My daughter…! Has anyone seen my daughter…?!" She cried out.
Long dirt brown hair and brown eyes. She wore a casual brown shirt attire which was supplied by the refugee.
Around her were crowds of people ranged from all ages.
They were surrounded by the military who, whilst taking cover behind a barricade formed by barriers, was shooting down the Zombies heading towards them.
The explosions which were going off underground had attracted all the zombies in the area towards them.
Everyone was too worried about their own shoes to give a damn about a lady who had lost her child.
The mother looked around desperately, running around in search for her child. She had gotten dragged by the crowd of people pushing and was taken all the way outside.
But no matter how much she searched, she couldn't find her.
"Shit…! I've spotted another one of those horned bastards viewing this place! We have to get out of here!" One of the military men shouted as he fired off the gun.
"But how the fuck are we supposed to transport all of these people…? There's at least forty of them and the zombies are breaking through!"
They were on the outskirts of the city and yet the number of zombies was still unbelievable.
Walking corpses which would go to any length to get their food. Taking down one would either take countless body shots or one head shot.
They didn't have enough ammunition. Most was left underground.
It was so well hidden, and things were done in such a rush that they hadn't bothered to plan for the outside defences. People would only usually be sent out to gather supplies when it mattered.
Whilst everything was in chaos, the mother turned to the underground entrance.
A pair of reinforced metal doors which opened and closed on command. It led to a path large enough for vehicles to enter and leave through.
Another door was placed right beside it, it led to a staircase and it was the one they had all come from.
The staircase door was the one currently opened as well as the one which they had just come out of.
"She couldn't have… Stayed back there could she…?" She asked.
The doors were slowly starting to shut, and the ground began shaking.
"God damn it! What now!?" One of the military men shouted as he glanced back.
The instant he did, his eyes widened.
The shaking grew more violent, and a fiery explosion of flames erupted out from the reinforced doors sending a strong shockwave towards them.
But in that instant, before the explosion and shockwave could prosper.
Dark flames suddenly emerged after, engulfing the fiery explosion and containing it in the process.
The shaking had stopped.
A sight which none of them had ever thought they would see was happening right before their eyes.
Once the explosion was completely engulfed by the dark flames, they were suddenly propelled at the zombies ahead of the barricade scorching them in the process.
Following that, a ring of dark flames around the group of people.
"What in god's name…!?"
The military officers lowered their weapons in disbelief.
"Who's ability…? Is this…?"
"Have we been saved by the government's back up…?"
The people began chattering amongst themselves in disbelief as confusion permeated through the air.
None of them knew what to expect.
But it was then that it happened. A path opened on the back of the ring of flames as the fire dimmed down.
Flames extended in a line down the path preventing anything outside from getting inside. The zombies which passed through the flames were instantaneously burned to a crisp.
Standing ahead of that path, a girl with two katanas on her hand, could be seen panting heavily as she gestured them all to go.
It was Delta.
Beside her, there was a young girl who was holding onto a teddy bear. She had a worried look as she tugged on Delta's shirt.
They were all wary, unsure whether they should trust her but what other option did they have?
Before they could make a move however, the lady who had been searching for her daughter all along ran out of the crowd.
Tears could be seen flowing down her eyes as she stumbled on her run but that didn't stop her.
"Ziya! Ziya!!!" She called out.
The young girl who saw this, let go of her teddy bear before tearing up and running towards her.
"Mother!!!" She cried out.
Once they were only a few steps away from one another, Ziya leapt to her mother's arms, hugging her tightly as they embraced one another.
Whilst this happened, Delta who was both mentally and physically exhausted yelled out.
"Follow this path down! My squad will be waiting for you and take you to another safer refugee! Hurry up!"
Upon hearing this, like starving hounds the people ran out of the circle from the opened path.
As they passed by Delta, many thanked her with tears.
"GO GO GO!!" Yelled the military men as they followed from behind.
The lady got up with her daughter, and the two began running down the path created by Delta.
As they ran past her, they wanted to stop to give her the proper thanks but they knew they had to keep running.
"Miss!! Tell me your name!! I'll never forget this!!" Ziya yelled out as she looked back.
"Akiya Kasai." She replied.
The last thing she could see before a wall of flames rose and cut them off was a small smile on Delta's face.
[Delta, do you copy? What's the situation over there-] A female voice came through the speakers.
"Yes, I copy. I've evacuated the refugee. Around thirty to forty made it. I sent them towards a squad I encountered on the way." She replied as the dark flames ahead of her began to fade.
[Delta you… You were able to pull it off? You were able to control your flames? What happened to the noble horned one?]
"The noble horned one has been dealt with. He self-destructed after I burnt him."
[G-Great job Delta! I-I'd like to tell you to retreat back to the base but…]
"It's alright, I wasn't planning to. But…"
She dropped to her knees stabbing her katana into the ground to hold herself up.
"I've overdone it…" She muttered before collapsing to the ground.
[Delta?]
[Delta!?]
"So that guy's gone and bit the dust, huh… To think his explosions failed to do one simple task and as for the other noble who died... It's understandable for the commoners to die but to think they've taken two nobles of ours..." Muttered a horned one sat on top of a mountain of human and zombie corpses.
