Chapter 147 – To Pay (1)

Ye Mu was wide awake, in full consciousness of her own actions last night. She looked at her hands, of which her white fingers were once smeared with blood.

Back in the battlefield of her old world, when she used her gun to annihilate people, she didn’t feel anything at doing the act. But it was only afterwards, when the adrenaline had simmered down, when she would feel a heavy, crushing weight in her heart.

But now, after she had truly used her hands to kill—no, massacred, five hundred people, something in her heart seemed to have shattered; her firm belief in herself had crumbled. She was even thinking that if this continued, would she eventually become like Ye Li?

While she was caught in her thoughts, Mo Linyuan came in. Seeing that Ye Mu had woken up, he was taken aback. “You’re finally awake!”

He rushed over and eagerly grabbed Ye Mu’s hand. Only in front of Ye Mu did he display such a sincere expression of vulnerability.

“Thank goodness you’re alright.”

He had been truly afraid. If Ye Mu were to fall into a coma again, this time, she wouldn’t be able to wake up. And he no longer had any relatives or friends–Ye Mu was the only and most important person to him.

Seeing Mo Linyuan in a clearer light, Ye Mu’s expression became somewhat complex. She was not able to forget that Ye Li had failed because of Mo Linyuan, but she knew very clearly in her heart that Ye Li’s death could not be blamed on anyone else but himself.

“I apologize.” Seeing Ye Mu not speaking, Mo Linyuan could instantly understand what she was thinking. He quieted down and said in a very low voice, “I’m very sorry about Ye Li.”

Ye Mu had felt a bit of a raging fire in her heart before, but after she lost control and killed five hundred people, she was finally relieved of the impulse. But her current situation showed exactly the same as Ye Li’s. He easily killed and had different moods—the Divine Terminator Technique should have a lot to do with it. If Ye Li was still alive now and had succeeded, he would definitely become a terrible tyrant in the future!

Then, perhaps, it’s heaven’s will for him to fail?

After thinking it through, Ye Mu began to understand why Ye Li committed suicide. He could have chosen to live that time, but he had lost his most prized possession–his martial arts. Therefore, he chose to die instead.

She bitterly smiled and shook her head, “Let’s not talk about those who have already gone to the underworld. Are we inside the Mo Country now?”

Seeing that her expression was serious, Mo Linyuan quickly said, “Yes, I brought you to the Mo Country… Xiaolang was also with us, but I threw him into the army to train.”

The three of them were still together, and they all had experienced many horrid things together.

The corner of Mo Linyuan’s mouth slightly curled up as he looked at her and he said once more, “I’m truly happy that you’re fine.”

Ye Mu thought of Xiaolang and finally felt some peace in her heart. Both of them skimmed over the topic about the night’s massacre, but Ye Mu suddenly thought of something and quickly asked, “Oh right! Before I fainted, I had a map on me. Where is that map?”

Although it was called a map, it was actually human skin. After Ye Li had peeled it off, he had stuffed it into her arms.

Mo Linyuan frowned slightly. “You mean, that piece of human skin?” Although gruesome, the strange patterns drawn on it made Mo Linyuan keep it instead of throwing it away in repulsion. But he had to remedy this of course. Therefore, he used a special method to store it and even made a copy of the drawing on paper.

Ye Mu looked at the paper with the map drawn on it, and her eyes lit up.

“Do you know what this is?”

She did not intend to tell Mo Linyuan about her need of the city boundary map right now. After all, what she wanted wasn’t a treasure trove, but the final, complete map.

“Is this a map?”

“Yes! This drawing is from the legends. Two hundred years ago, the Empire left behind a treasure trove of information, a map of the world! This is a part of it!”
