Chapter 110 – A War Rising (1)

Ye Mu was taken by surprise, but then she heard Zhang Yuan continue, “The general initiated a military charge at the city gates and is now facing off against Prince Zhao. Furthermore, with the help of the Second Prince, the general’s surprise attack was able to quickly and successfully defeat Prince Zhao’s military troops. However, Prince Zhao has escaped under the protection of his most trusted aides and is most likely hiding inside the imperial palace.”

“Therefore, the general told his subordinate to bring the young miss back to the general’s estate immediately. As this place will soon no longer be safe.”

When Ye Mu heard that Ye Li had launched an attack, she was slightly worried.

“What about Aji? Where is he?”

Zhang Yuan respectfully replied, “The young master Aji’s matter—this subordinate did not closely follow. I apologize miss.”

Ye Mu nodded understandingly but the strange feeling in her heart became stronger by the minute.

Why would the Second Prince suddenly help Ye Li? Even if they weren’t enemies, they shouldn’t be acquaintances in the first place… more and more doubts caused her to understand the situation vaguely, but she did not dare overthink matters more and went with Zhang Yuan.

After they were able to leave the imperial palace, Ye Mu finally saw Ye Li. But this wasn’t at the general’s manor. Instead, they were at the city’s Heaven’s Sacrifice Plaza.

At this moment, the street was in complete disorder with not a single civilian in sight. The blood stains on the ground proved that the place had been thoroughly affected by the intense battle between the two armies just this morning.

In the square, tens of thousands of people wearing black armors stood crowded around the Heaven’s Altar at the center of the square. Everyone had firm looks on their face, but when they looked at the person on the alter, their eyes were filled with loyalty!

Ye Mu found it even more strange. Just when she raised her head to look towards the Heaven’s Altar, she finally understood the reason for their gazes.

Ye Li was standing on top of it, tall and majestic!

“Mu’er, you’re here!” With this single sentence of recognition from Ye Li, the crowd immediately opened up a path for Ye Mu to pass through.

Ye Mu suppressed her fear as she walked nearer towards the altar. As she reached him, Ye Li’s large hand covered her head. They hadn’t seen each other for a long time, but she could tell that he was much more spirited than last time she had seen him.

His entire person was brimming with vigor, like a ferocious beast that had just been thrown out of its cage.

“Father,” Ye Mu asked hesitantly, “Why are so many people gathered here?”

Didn’t they say that despite Prince Zhao suffering a resounding defeat, he had escaped? During this opportunity, Ye Li ought to be mobilizing his inner force expert to search for him, so why did he have this absurd idea of launching a misplaced attack on the imperial palace, of all places?

Ye Li smiled slightly and said, “As for Prince Zhao, I have already sent some of my talented subordinates to capture him. Now with his army scattered, it is a good time to move forward and seize immediate victory.”

He looked towards the imperial palace and mumbled, “Right now, the imperial guards are the only last line of defense left.”

Therefore, Ye Li wants to use this opportunity to instantly attack the imperial palace just because he had beaten Prince Zhao?

How did this idea even come to life? Ye Mu was dazed at this unexpected, sloppy plan. Although the current situation in the imperial palace was unclear, to launch an attack was too hasty of a decision!

As for the matter with the second prince, despite Ye Li telling her that they had both reached an agreement, why was he nowhere to be seen?

The more Ye Mu thought about it, the more muddled her thoughts on the matter became. However, before she could even raise any questions, Ye Li pointed at the people beside him and grinned, “You came at the perfect time! It just so happens to be an opportune moment for you to meet someone before we proceed to battle.

“When I striving to seize the position from the emperor, I had many brothers by my side. But now, they are the only ones left.”

Ye Mu looked at the twenty to thirty people beside Ye Li. In spite of their calm auras, they looked extraordinary; Ye Mu guessed they were experts like Ye Li. Most importantly, she could see their extreme loyalty to him.

The uneasy feeling in her heart grew stronger. Just because victory was within his grasp, Ye Li had summoned all of his hidden cards?
