Ji Qingqing covered her belly as she leaned against the wall. She was firm in her decision. Lu Lixing could no longer watch her continue like this, so he stepped forward and lifted her up by holding her by the waist.
Ji Qingqing let out a soft cry of surprise. Her heart was rapidly beating as she subconsciously wrapped her arm around his neck tightly. She looked at him in surprise and asked, “What are you doing!”
Lu Lixing did not respond to her question. Instead, he carried her to the bed and covered her with the blanket. “Wait here.”
After he finished speaking, he turned around and went downstairs.
He didn’t understand much about a woman’s matter, so he didn’t know how to alleviate her pain. However, since Ji Qingqing said that she can relieve her pain by taking two painkillers, then he can probably get the medicine from Aunt Pei.
He circled around the villa, but he still couldn’t find Aunt Pei. He asked the other servants and found out that Aunt Pei was taking care of the flowers and plants in the garden that was left behind by the late Mrs. Lu.
“Aunt Pei, do you have any painkillers?”
“Painkiller?” Aunt Pei put down the sprinkler and asked, “Young master, are you feeling uncomfortable?”
“It’s not for me; it’s for Qingqing. She…” Lu Lixing paused for a moment before he touched his stomach.
Aunt Pei instantly understood the meaning behind his action and smiled, “Yes, I have painkillers. I will get them for you, please wait for me.”
Lu Lixing nodded and followed after Aunt Pei to get the painkiller.
Ji Qingqing waited for Lu Lixing to leave the room before she got out of bed and went into the bathroom to wash up.
Lu Lixing told her to wait, but she didn’t have the time to wait. It was now nine-thirty, and she would be late if she didn’t start getting ready!
She had promised Brother Qin that she would meet him at the company at ten o’clock today. She couldn’t stand him up just because her great aunt had come.
She didn’t even apply any makeup, instead, she only changed her clothes and went downstairs. The driver was already waiting for her outside the villa. Ji Qingqing looked at him like he was her life-saving straw. She was anxious to head to the company, but she didn’t forget to instruct a servant, “If Mr. Lu asked about me later, just tell him that I have gone to the company.”
The servant complied.
As soon as Ji Qingqing left the villa in the car, Lu Lixing went upstairs with Aunt Pei’s painkillers. He never expected that Ji Qingqing would’ve disappeared in the short time he was absent.
Lu Lixing froze in place as he looked at the messy bed. After a minute, he finally turned around and walked downstairs to look for her.
He looked all around the villa for her, but he was unable to find her. Then, he asked a servant, “Where is my wife?”
“Madam told me to tell you that she left for the company if you ask me about her whereabouts.”
Lu Lixing squeezed the bottle of painkillers in his hand until it was deformed. He took out his phone and called Ji Qingqing.
“Where did you go?”
Ji Qingqing was lying in the back seat of the car. She felt as if her soul were about to leave her body as she weakly replied, “I’m heading to the company.”
A crease formed in the space between his brows. It seemed like the space between his brows was enough to kill a fly, “Isn’t your body unwell?”
T/N: The author is saying how he is frowning very deeply. When you frown, the brows are creased together, so much so that the space between the two brows is so tiny that it can squeeze a fly to death. I hope this makes sense.
“I’ll just buy some painkillers on the way to the company. This is a big deal. I’m going to be late, so I’m going to hang up first.” Ji Qingqing was in pain, and she felt very uncomfortable. In addition to all that, she still needed to pay attention to the time to make sure she wasn’t late. She was exhausted; she would probably ascend to heaven if she was forced to speak again.
Lu Lixing looked at the black screen on his phone. He had a sullen expression on his face while he instructed a servant, “Arrange a car for me immediately!”
