Chapter 9: Old Li Flying Dagger

The Adult Wild Boar collapsed on the ground, and the thin man looked at Li Yi and said, “Thank you.”

Although no penalty would be incurred for any deaths below Level 10, it would still be a waste of time to run here all the way from the Novice Village. For players who wanted to boost their level quickly, spending time on the road was a loss.

[Old Li Flying Dagger sent you a request. Add the other party as a friend?]

Li Yi was taken aback for a moment before agreeing to Old Li Flying Dagger’s friend request.

It did not cross his mind that this thin man in front of him was Old Li Flying Dagger who championed the level rankings.

“Dark Wing? Good name. Want to team up together?”

“Okay.”

Even though Li Yi had no problem with solo-ing against the Adult Wild Boars, however, constantly running around to kite them was also quite tiring after a long time.

[Old Li Flying Dagger sent a team request to you. Do you want to accept it?]

Dark Wing accepted the invitation and joined the team.

After adding Li Yi to the team, Old Li Flying Dagger could not help but felt disappointed. With his operational skill, going solo was definitely not a problem. His purpose of teaming up with Li Yi was first, to save effort on farming monsters and second, to peek at Li Yi’s level.

Unfortunately, he was let down. Li Yi had already set his level setting to private, so unless he was willing, no one could see his level at this stage.

However, his equipment was visible and Rena’s Short Bow in Li Yi’s hand was flashing a pale blue light. At first glance, it was different from the ordinary white equipment.

Although Old Li Flying Dagger very much wanted to ask, in the end, he refrained from doing so. This was because he knew that since the other party chose to hide it, that person clearly did not want him to know.

He would be just asking in vain, and that might cause the other party’s distaste instead.

“Whoosh!”

Li Yi shot an arrow and it accurately hit an Adult Wild Boar in the distance. Old Li Flying Dagger gave a shout and swung his knife to block the Adult Wild Boar which was rushing up at them.

Old Li Flying Dagger attracted firepower at the front while Li Yi only needed to shoot as much as he could.

There was no need for any operational techniques, and it was extremely easy. This was the benefit of teaming up.

Recalling the Thief whom he played in his last life, Li Yi could not help but burst into tears. From Level 1 to full level, almost all of them were leveled up via solo…

Why did he know about the eight major classes like the back of his hand?

Once you go online, there would be at least two thousand players from everywhere buying coordinates to hunt you down, and in a few days’ time, you too would have a great understanding of the eight major classes.

Li Yi sat on a large rock leisurely and shot a few arrows from time to time. Compared with Old Li Flying Dagger, who was sweating heavily and running to and fro, he was in an exceedingly comfortable state.

Of course, this was not to say that the occupation, Archer, was better than Paladin. On the contrary, the number of Paladin players was many times more than Archer players.

Paladins could attack and defend, and heal and resurrect. The plate armor they had on them were the ones with the most powerful defensive strength, and they could also hold a shield. Hence, their role in a team was far beyond the Archers, who could only have DPS output.

The two-person team’s EXP rose very quickly. Li Yi’s EXP had reached Level 9 – 85%, and in another hour or so, he would rise to Level 10 for sure.

“Did you come alone?”

As the wild boar had not rushed up, Old Li Flying Dagger seized the opportunity to make a small conversation.

“Yeah.” Li Yi shot an arrow and nodded.

Old Li Flying Dagger was a little embarrassed. “Later… A friend might be coming… She had just messaged me.”

One person could get 100% EXP by going solo against a monster. If two people teamed up, then each person would only get 70% EXP. After that, with every additional person, the EXP would be reduced by 10% until the lowest point at 30%.

Although the fight could be over in a short time, the more people teamed up in a group, the EXP gained would be lesser. The reason why Old Li Flying Dagger was a little embarrassed was precisely due to the issue of EXP distribution.

With the two of them collaborating, they could basically kill a wild boar in a trice. If an additional person joined at this time, it would undoubtedly reduce the EXP obtained.

Li Yi replied with alacrity, “Sure, she can join once she’s here, but I may have to leave after a while. I haven’t collected feathers yet.”

Old Li Flying Dagger laughed. “My friend still has three sets of feathers. When she comes, I’ll ask her to give them to you.”

Amid their chatting and laughing, a few wild boars were slain once more, and at this time, Old Li Flying Dagger’s friend had arrived.

The person approaching them was wearing a tight-fitting black suit, holding a blue dagger in the hand, and the face was covered with a cloth. There was a pair of pointed long ears at both sides of the long black ponytail. This was a female White Elf Thief.

‘Female Thief?’

“This is my friend. She’s called Moonlight Ocean.” Old Li Flying Dagger hurriedly introduced one another.

Moonlight Ocean Yao nodded at Li Yi and handed Li Yi three sets of feathers.

“Thanks.”

Li Yi did not decline and accepted them right away.

‘(Gold) Feren’s Wetsuit, (Blue) Drizzt’s dagger, (White) Agile wolf-skin shoes…’

Li Yi recognized the equipment on Moonlight Ocean at first sight. At the same time, he also understood why she could reach here.

Moonlight Ocean, like him, had completed the Triggered Class Quest, and this was not something Old Li Flying Dagger could match. He had only learned a free skill from the Paladin Mentor when he was Level 5.

After the Thief obtained a Level 5 Class Weapon, the Thief would receive a quest to catch a fish. This task was very simple. Just by catching a small fish, one could return to report back. However, if the player could not catch any fish at this time and drowned more than 50 times in the water, then there would be a slight chance of triggering the Hidden Event, in which the player would be rescued by the White Elf Wizard Feren and given a gift, Feren’s Wetsuit.

[Feren’s Wetsuit (Gold)]

[Equipment level: 1]

[DEF +3]

[M-DEF +2]

[Reduce damage by 5% when attacked by Water Spells.]

[Special effects: By putting on this wetsuit, your Health will not decrease when you swim in the water. Additional: Extend underwater breathing for 2 minutes.]

No wonder they had so many feathers. Thieves were skilled at Critical Hits and Crippling Strikes and were even much more powerful than Archers in terms of the ability to instant DPS.

With the addition of Moonlight Ocean, the speed of killing monsters was faster but due to the decrease in EXP, it was a little lesser than when it was with the two-person team earlier.

This could not be helped. No one knew any AOE skill at the moment and could only seize and kill one at a time, so naturally the more the people, the lesser the EXP.

While killing the monsters, Li Yi found that although Moonlight Ocean’s equipment was much better than Old Li Flying Dagger’s, her operational skill was obviously lacking by a great deal.

She was holding a Level 5 Class Weapon in hand and had also learned the Thief’s first skill, Backstab, and yet she would attack upfront each time she was fighting the monsters, which was really degrading the Thief class.

“Um… When the wild boar rushes over, by going around to its back and using Backstab, it will cause much more damage than at the present. Also… After using Backstab, give it another stab. There’s a chance to trigger a bonus attack multiplier.”

Moonlight Ocean did not answer Li Yi. Nonetheless, when the next wild boar came over, she attempted a shot in accordance to what Li Yi had said.

“Backstab!”

[−89]

[Critical Hit! Crippling Strike!]

[−76]

[Additional Damage!]

Coupled with Li Yi’s and Old Li Flying Dagger’s attack, the wild boar which was here to provide them with EXP was killed in an instant.

“Haha. Younger brother seems to be a powerhouse.” Old Li Flying Dagger laughed.

“Not as powerful as you though, elder brother. First in the Level rankings, Level 7 Paladin.”

Both parties had gotten close to each other while they were fighting the monsters. Old Li Flying Dagger was over thirty years old, far older than Li Yi. As for Moonlight Ocean, Li Yi had not heard her speak a word since she arrived.

As time went by, Li Yi’s EXP climbed little by little to Level 9 – 97%, leveling up very soon.

“Elder brother, I have to go back to collect feathers. You two can continue on,” Li Yi said as he left the team.

“Alright. Let’s collaborate again when there’s a chance.” Old Li Flying Dagger gave Li Yi a meaningful look.

“No problem.”

Just when Li Yi was about to rush into the wild boar group, Moonlight Ocean sent him a friend request.

[Agree.]

[White Elf Thief, Moonlight Ocean, Level 6.]

“Let’s collaborate again when there’s a chance.” Li Yi smiled and rushed into the group of monsters…

“Hey, you three people over there. You all should leave. This place has been reserved by us, Huashan.”

Li Yi stopped in his tracks and looked back. His face instantly darkened.

Beside the boulder Old Li Flying Dagger used to pull aggro, there were a dozen new players who stood with a knife each in their hands. The leader was a skinny man with a long face, and he was laughing sinisterly with his head tilted to a side, exhibiting an expression that totally deserved a whack.

Li Yi knew this person.

Huashan Guild’s Scumbag Wang!
