"Now did I?" A playful smile was revealed on Noah's face. "Why can't I remember ever doing what you claim I did?"

As Noah had refused to acknowledge it, and because there was no proof that proved otherwise, Roy couldn't put the murderer who killed him once on the execution platform.

'The day I find a chance to kill or teach him a lesson, I will show him hell.' Roy's fist tightened at the sight of the sly smile on Noah's face, and he promised to break it.

"Your presence is no longer tolerated at my place. If you're done annoying us, take your leave." Roy said, trying to shoo him away like a dog.

However, Noah struck around and even helped himself to sit opposite him.

"I can't leave until you give me a considerable sum." Noah finally revealed the tip of the iceberg that was his real motive.

"What are you playing at?" Roy's eyebrow jumped.

"Brother of mine, you took too much to break off the engagement with Rose. The Charlotte Family is unhappy with you. Because of you, cracks have formed in the good relationship between our two families. But don't worry, being the good and responsible brother I am, I will salvage this situation for you. In return, just give me the three rune stones that have come into your possession by a stroke of luck."

With these words, Noah revealed his fangs to Roy, indicating that he was here to suck him dry of his wealth.

He extended his hand over to Roy.

This was his way of telling him to put them on his palm.

Roy looked at Noah and then at his outstretched hand, smiled, and scratched his chin as if seriously considering his proposal.

"Hurry up! I don't have all day." Noah urged him to come to a decision.

"I do have something to give you."

Roy acted mysteriously to garner all of Noah's attention on him and moved his close fist on top of his palm.

And then… his middle finger stretched out, landing on it like a rocket!

Noah's eyes widened to the size of saucers at this sight. How could he humiliate him like that? He never expected Roy, an unawakened, to make fun of him, an awakened mage!

Before he could speak, Roy's abusive words rang in his ears. "Take this and fuck off! Except for humiliations like this, I don't have anything to give you, not even a copper coin!! If you want to win Charlotte over, use your own stuff. If you don't have any, sell yourself to them. Don't demand mine like a shameless beggar, lizard!!"

Noah felt taken aback by this.

Roy didn't care about him and slapped his dirty paws away.

Then they noticed his head bowed in shame.

But not long after, they heard him laughing like a villain.

He raised his head and glared at Roy dangerously. "Have you forgotten who you're talking to?"

Roy shook his head. "No, I am certain I am talking to a bastard that used magic spells to plot the death of his younger brother not too long ago, and now he is begging for items from that very brother."

Not just that, Noah even succeeded.

For some reason, Noah had always hated Roy and was extra cruel to him and even wanted to stab him dead many times since they were young, but didn't because then he would be punished for killing a noble and be sentenced to ten years to a lifetime in jail.

But one day, he succeeded in learning illusion magic and put Roy under the illusion that the pool was a warm bed. This led to him watching Roy drown in it while lost in bliss. Killing him this way didn't leave behind any evidence. So he was at ease.

It's just that Roy transmigrated over the moment the true owner of this body died and merged with his soul, gaining his emotions and memories. Or else his cover would have been long blown, and everyone would've realised that Roy Badulf Baldwin was dead and the one in his body was Roy Fisher.

"Aren't you still alive and well?" Noah said, regret visible in his eyes.

He regretted that he didn't remain behind to confirm that he had died.

"I don't want to hear another word from you." Roy stood up and looked down on him like a behemoth, "Get out, or you'll be kicked out!"

Noah's eyes narrowed to thin slits. "Should I take that as a declaration of war?"

Roy immediately inspected Noah and found out that he was a rank-1 mage and a soul herder, but his basic stats were pitifully low compared to him.

Thus, he became confident about fighting him.

"War is fought between two equal parties. We won't be having a war; only a one-sided annihilation." Roy uttered one word at a time.

Noah felt taunted and disdained.

"Heh." Noah chuckled insidiously, took off his silky glove, and instantly threw it towards him.

He meant to slap him on the face with it.

But Roy foiled his plan by grabbing it just as it reached too close.

"I, Noah Badulf Baldwin, challenge you to a duel!" Noah announced heroically, but the words that followed showed his truly diabolical nature, "I advise you to accept it. I can't outright harm you, but what about your maids and friends? As a noble, killing a slave or two wouldn't hurt me that much. Maybe I will be jailed for a year or three, but even there I will be treated royally. Don't forget who my mother is."

He was threatening to go after his people if he refused to fight, and hence, Roy was left with no choice but to amuse and defeat him at his own game.

"Challenge Accepted!" Roy crumpled up the glove as he glared at Noah, "Let's fight!"

Noah said, "Let's go to the backyard." Before he left room.

Roy's face hardened, and the memory of a young teen drowning to his death flashed in his mind. The backyard was the same place where Noah killed him. That's why when Roy heard the mention of that place, he was reminded of how "he" died.

'He's playing with me psychologically.' Roy stood up coldly, 'But I will best him at his own game. I will show him I am not to be messed with.'
