Dennan clenched his jaw.

He was too late. His ability had shown him a future that was much too imminent, deplorably so.

Kaywhin burst out of the barrack with a grimace. Then, his face hardened. The Holy Sword began quivering.

[Oh, shoot… Why did those things show up out of the blue?]

A throng of dark demons was swarming.

***

A corridor that was dripping with blood everywhere.

Rebecca spoke in a puzzled tone.

“The duchess isn’t here?”

Frustration spread over her face.

‘Great.’

Rebecca had taken the Demon King to the Mayhard Duchy after he had told her to lead the way to Yelena. But of all times, she had chosen now to be absent.

“Y-yes… She left for the capital early in the morning.”

Rebecca shot a sharp glare at the servant, as if she was trying to confirm the truth of his words.

But she couldn’t detect any trace of dishonesty. He was so terrified that he completely wet his pants.

‘Fine then.’

There was fresh blood all over the walls. Disfigured corpses were scattered on the floor in puddles of blood.

The fact that the servant hadn’t gone mad and was still enduring was commendable. He didn’t have time to make up lies.

‘Tsk.’

Rebecca chewed on her lip quietly.

How unfortunate. Or rather, fortunate for Yelena.

Rebecca slowly turned around after glaring at the servant. Then, she spoke to the man who was staring at her with eyes as red as blood.

“I’m sorry. The woman I told you about is not here at the moment.”

The man didn’t respond right away. He quietly scanned his surroundings, the walls of the ruined corridor with blood splattered everywhere and the backs of the dead bodies on the floor.

The man closed his eyes slowly and opened them again. There was a terrifying glint in his red eyes.

‘A millennial.’

He had waited an entire millennial.

About a millennial ago, the red-eyed man, the ruler of the Demon World, Trezef, had invaded the Human World.

But the invasion had failed, and he returned to the Demon World. All because of two humans who were known as the Warrior and the Saintess.

‘The Saintess…’

At the time, the Saintess had been a complete nuisance to Trezef. Demon powers were completely ineffective to her. She was able to save the lives of people who were dying.

Just how many times had she healed the Warrior, who was dying—no, whose heart had already stopped.

Trezef tightened his lips as he remembered the past.

Back then, Trezef had made ceaseless efforts to seize and kill the Saintess. But he failed every time because the other humans knew that she was their only hope.

So, the humans put their lives on the line to conceal the Saintess’s existence. Trezef had killed many who had impersonated the Saintess, but he couldn’t even catch a glimpse of the real Saintess.

Until finally, the Warrior had pierced through his chest with an Ego Sword.

‘Fortunately, he missed my heart.’

It took a millennial for the wound to heal. Well, to be precise, there was still around 10 more years left, but some human had summoned him back to the Human World.

But that didn’t matter. Anyhow, Trezef had almost completely recovered his past strength. He was strong enough to invade the Human World again.

Actually, the invasion had already begun.

Trezef used his authority as Demon King to call all demons to the Human World. Even at this very moment, demons were ripping apart the ground and making their way into the Human World ceaselessly.

‘I’ll find the Saintess’s descendant and destroy her no matter what. And… I’ll succeed in conquering the Human World this time.’

Trezef glanced at Rebecca, the human who had summoned him.

At first, he was incredulous. He couldn’t believe he, the sole ruler of the Demon World, had been summoned by a mere human.

But now, he thought that things had worked out in his favor. Thanks to Rebecca summoning him, he found out about the Saintess’s descendant’s existence. And now, he would be able to destroy her.

Trezef opened his mouth.

“Where in the capital did she go?”

The servant, who was on the ground, answered his question immediately.

“Th-the Linden March. She said she was going to the Linden March!”

“Do you know where that is?”

This time, his question was for Rebecca. Rebecca nodded her head right away.

“I do.”

Slash!

At the same time that Rebecca answered, the servant’s head disconnected from his body. Blood shot out from his neck.

“Let’s go.”

Roll.

The decapitated head rolled over to Rebecca’s feet and stopped.

“…Yes.”

Rebecca swallowed down and followed after Trezef.
