“The purpose of this counter attack is to concentrate our forces and destroy five German encampments in one fell swoop. The code message on the map shows that one of them is a large operational base—three medium strength camps, and a transit camp with fewer soldiers stationed.” Colonel Marcos explained.

Every officer in tent leaned forward, listening attentively. Their bodies jittered, excitement filling them wholeheartedly. They wanted this, wanted so badly to fight back.

They’d been passively suppressed by those German Nazis, and sooner or later, their front lines defense would fall completely. If this counterattack proved itself successful, it’d surely defeat the high spirits of the Germans.

“The enemy’s large operating base will be led by me and two of my subordinates with at least five soldiers available at the ready. The three medium-strength encampments will be led by three officers with the rank of lieutenant or above.”

As he spoke, Colonel Marcos pointed his fingers on a large map. A military three-dimensional simulation map showed five German encampment strongholds outside the fronts.

“Looks like we’ll have big counterattack this time. The operational commander himself… Coordinates of the enemy base… Well-staffed military arrangements… Strategic night raids… It’s hard not to lose.” Kyle thought.

He was the person responsible for the interpretation of the German code messages, and had long known the intel recorded in the map. Soon as he heard the Colonel Marcos’ distributing the plan of the raid to his officers, Kyle knew that a war was certain.

The importance of intel during wartime. Those with the upper hand often takes the lead.

Thereafter, Colonel Marcos distributes assigned the soldiers to each officers, as well as the plan of the raid. Knowing their mission tonight, the officers quickly left the tent and set out to prepare for tonight’s raid.

Kyle was the only one left in the tent.

The colonel did not forget me, right?

Kyle complained secretly, the corner of his eyes locked on Colonel Marcos who sat back on the chair, but he did not waste time. Taking the opportunity during the meeting, he extracted a few green skill cards from the officers around him.

The he accumulated a few green skill cards to a certain extent, it held no use to him, and did not show an obvious improvement to his physical aspects.

Colonel Marcos took a sip of water. His eyes turned to Kyle, face a little more relaxed. “Kyle, tonight’s raid is important. Though you’ve recently from the frontlines, you’ll have to participate in tonight’s raid, so you should go and get an afternoon rest.

“Of course. It is my honor as an American soldier to take part in the first counterattack against the Nazis, and I will do my very best.” Kyle said emotionally.

“You have the good drive and will as a soldier, Kyle, especially your amazing performances on the battlefield.” Colonel Marcos nodded in satisfaction. He was satisfied with the kid before him. The more he thought about it, the more he realized his fondness for the kid.

It’d be good to expect a fresh new recruit heading to war to perform at 70% of a seasoned soldier, but Kyle, who’d just arrived, behaved like a seasoned veteran, like a fish in the water on the battlefield.

In addition to setting up the counterattack plan, Colonel Marcos deliberated conformed KyleMs identity black in the base for he feared Kyle was a German spy disguised as an American soldier.

Colonel Marcos cleared his throat and said meaningfully, “Tonight, I’m not asking you to conduct a raid as a soldier.”

“Not as a soldier? What do you mean?” Surprised, his brows wrinkled and pondered over the matter. He suddenly guessed something, his face turned strange. “Colonel, you’ll assign me troops to raid the fifth German encampment tonight?”

“That’s right.” Colonel Marcos nodded. To prove his seriousness, he pulled out a badge and placed it on the table. “Of course, you won’t be leading as a soldier, but as a corporal.”

“Me? Corporal?” The dumbfounded Kyle pointed to his nose.

The rank of a corporal is not high in the army, but it was comparable to the level of a non-commissioned officer!

Only three days of combat time, and he skipped the private and private first class, and stepped into the corporal rank? Since when was the rank of a corporal so worthless?

“What? You don’t believe in your abilities?” Colonel Marcos smiled.
