Chapter 89: What a Pity

Shh-shh-shh!

The sound of footsteps from behind him woke up Jiang Yi. He turned around and was shocked by all the unfamiliar faces. Luckily, there were a few familiar faces that made him feel at ease—especially the face of the icy beauty, Su Ruoxue.

“Jiang… Cadet Jiang Yi? I am Vice Principal Qi of the college. Are you alright?” The silver-haired old woman spoke with passionate eyes.

Jiang Yi shook his head to dismiss the horrific scene from his mind. He then let out a breath and replied, “Vice Principal Qi. I am fine!”

“Huh…”

The group of mentors let out an awkward expression. This Jiang Yi was too oblivious! Principal Qi addressed herself as Vice Principal, and he followed suit. Who would dare to not address her as Principal in the entire college?

Fortunately, Principal Qi didn’t mind such things. She looked at Jiang Yi with concern and asked, “Cadet Jiang Yi. Did you… comprehend the martial dao intent from the Heaven Monarch of Massacre?”

“Martial dao intent?”

Jiang Yi blinked his eyes confusedly and asked, “What is martial dao intent?”

“This… is hard to explain to you!” Principal Qi hesitated before continuing. “Did you comprehend any special things within the Divine Monument?”

Jiang Yi began to mumble with a lost expression and soon shook his head. “No. I didn’t comprehend anything. I only saw a horrific scene. The man on this statue kept killing people, killing a million soldiers. After he finished killing, that image vanished.”

“Eh…”

The dozens of mentors looked at each other and soon gave a look of pity. These Divine Monuments were left by six absolute masters using their divine strength. It was a great opportunity for anyone to touch the restrictions on the Divine Monument and gained access to the realizations that they left behind. But it was luck that determined whether or not that someone was about to benefit from it.

But for Jiang Yi, it seemed like he wasn’t able to grab hold of this opportunity!

Principal Qi didn’t give up and asked again, “Did you truly not gain anything? Like martial skills or a chant? Or even something special? As long as it was something that was passed to you by the Heaven Monarch of Massacre.”

“None!”

Jiang Yi replied firmly, “The scene that I saw was the Heaven Monarch of Massacre killing people. He vanished after finishing his slaughter. He didn’t pass me anything.”

“Sigh… what a pity!”

Principal Qi let out a subtle sigh and had this expression of pity. “Throughout history, there are only two other individuals who got in touch with the martial dao intent left by the Heaven Monarch of Massacre. But they are similar to Cadet Jiang Yi and cannot receive any enlightenment. Can it be that the realizations left by the Heaven Monarch of Massacre are too mystical that is only open to individuals of a certain cultivation stage?”

Principal Qi finished her statement and looked in the eyes of the rest of the Vice Principals. She shook her head and headed out while the rest of the mentors followed suit, leaving behind Jiang Yi by himself.

Jiang Yi looked at the stone monument, and the image of the bloodshot eyes appeared in his mind again. He subconsciously looked towards the pair of eyes on the statue, but he felt that the eyes on the statue and the eyes in his mind were different. It seemed to lack some special charm?

After observing for a moment, Jiang Yi awoke from a shock and quickly walked out of the hall. He didn’t know how long he had stayed in this area; his scarce amount of accumulated points might have already been depleted.

“Orders from Principal Qi. Since you got in touch with the martial dao intent, the accumulated points’ deduction shall be waived!”

Jiang Yi was surprised to receive his jade token without even a single point deducted. When he looked out, he saw that it was filled with people, forming a huge human mass.

“Boss!”

Fatty brought a group of people over—among them were Zhan Wushuang and his sister, Zhan Lin’er. Everyone had this look of admiration and envy. Fatty came over and whispered, “Boss, you are really the real deal. I, Qian Wanguan, didn’t look at the wrong person! You are definitely a generation prodigy. What did you comprehend?”

Zhan Wushuang too asked in a soft voice, “Jiang Yi, did you comprehend any martial dao intent?”

“None!”

Jiang Yi shook his head. He laughed bitterly after seeing that there were so many people around. “Let’s talk when we get back.”

The group walked quickly towards the West Courtyard. As the mentors and Jiang Yi’s group left, the people that surrounded the Hall of Divine Monument scattered, too. Soon, the mentors spread the news and dismissed the curiosity of countless cadets. It put in some regret in the cadet’s hearts but also slightly restored some balance.

Jiang Yi might have broken the restrictions on the Divine Monument, but he didn’t comprehend any martial dao intent.

“Boss, you really didn’t have any realizations? That is such a pity…”

In a small courtyard of the West Courtyard, Fatty had this miserable look. Zhan Wushuang and Zhan Lin’er also had this regretful expression. Jiang Yi still looked rather lost and asked after pausing for a moment, “What exactly is this martial dao intent?”

Zhan Wushuang explained: “Martial dao intent is a special kind of martial essence that is slightly different from a martial skill. It is also different from the heaven dao. It is a special intent that is created by those absolute masters who comprehended the heaven dao.

“Like the Intent of Fire, those that comprehended such intent will possess essence force that is of blazing heat, increasing the firepower by at least two folds. Take the Western Garrison Liege Lord for example, who developed his own Overlord Intent. Once he released his intent, his enemies who aren’t on the same strength level as him will be suppressed by him. Their overall strength will be reduced to a third of the original strength.”

“So that is what the martial dao intent is about!”

Jiang Yi’s eyes lit up as he recalled about the astonishing killing aura from the Heaven Monarch of Massacre. Once that killing aura was released, it suppressed the entire army that had a million soldiers. That scene where the Heaven Monarch of Massacre slaughtered his enemies without any resistance once again shook his heart.

“Why? Boss? Do you have any realizations?” Fatty looked at the expression of Jiang Yi intently and asked with concern.

Jiang Yi didn’t reply, but he seemed to have grasped onto something in his heart. He tried to sense it but didn’t get any feedback. He paused for a moment and shook his head. “Nope. I don’t have any realizations.”

“It’s fine. If you are able to break the restrictions of the Divine Monument, it means that you, Jiang Yi, are not a regular individual. As long as you work hard diligently, there will be more opportunities in the future!”

Zhan Wushuang stood up and walked to the side of Zhan Lin’er. “Lin’er, aren’t you going to thank Jiang Yi? Had it not been for him, you would be in danger.”

Zhan Lin’er’s face was still covered with a veil. Her eyes lit up as she looked at Jiang Yi with those smoky and charming eyes. She bowed and said, “Many thanks, Big Brother Jiang Yi.”

Looking at Zhan Lin’er’s crystal-like eyes, Jiang Yi nodded awkwardly. It was late in the evening, and Zhan Wushuang and his sister took their leave first. Fatty took his men and went out again, but Jiang Yi didn’t know what they were up to.

Jiang Yi went back to his room, and his mind was still playing the scene back at the Divine Monument. Those blood-red eyes were still clear in his mind, too.

Martial dao intent! Could the formidable killing aura from the Heaven Monarch of Massacre be his Massacre Intent?

Thinking of the scene back in the Divine Monument, Jiang Yi began to mumble as though he lost consciousness. In his mind suddenly appeared the flashback of the day at the Western Hills in the Skyplume City. His body slowly let out a boiling killing intent, and his unconscious eyes gradually turned red. It got intensively red and ended up as red as the blood, growing as terrifying as those eyes of the Heaven Monarch of Massacre.

Fortunately, there wasn’t anyone in the courtyard, and Fatty wasn’t back either. If such a scene was seen by someone, they would definitely think they saw a ghost.

What was even odder was that as time passed by, Jiang Yi’s eyes slowly returned back to normal, and his killing aura vanished without a trace. His unconscious eyes regained its glow. When he was completely awake, everything was back to normal. He himself had no recollection of the entire event that happened.
