Corpse Mound World:

The Mosquito Daoist and Chang Ming paused, their expressions suddenly changing.

“Where are the others?” The Mosquito Daoist glared.

“His Reverence and Bodhisattva Lian Sheng disappeared too?” Chang Ming said, his face sinking.

The two had already suffered a mental setback when Kong Xuan and the Unborn Man disappeared. Unexpectedly, only they remained.

The two exchanged looks.

“The situation is off. Let’s immediately head for the central corpse pit. His Reverence turns all dangers into opportunities. We will meet His Reverence there!” Chang Ming said sullenly.

The Mosquito Daoist raised his eyebrows. Clearly, he felt fearful of the central corpse pit. However, he could only nod at this point.

Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!

As the two were about to speed up, the drone of an overwhelming number of flies rang out.

“The Fly Daoist again?” The Mosquito Daoist’s face sank.

“Oh no! Look!” Chang Ming’s expression changed.

A surging cloud of flies rushed over from the distant horizon, filling the surroundings and even blocking out the sky. This made for a terrifying sight.

Of course, just flies alone would be nothing. After all, Chang Ming and the Mosquito Daoist could manifest boundless bats and mosquitoes. The crucial point was the close to a million resentful spirits behind the flies.

“Roar!”

Coo!

Awoo!

These resentful spirits swarmed over, lured by the flies.

“You bastard! Fly Daoist, get out here!” the Mosquito Daoist bellowed furiously as his expression changed.

Whoosh!

The Mosquito Daoist waved, and countless mosquitoes charged forward, blocking the flies.

Whoosh!

This blocked countless flies, but many still flew towards Chang Ming and the Mosquito Daoist. The many resentful spirits seemed enraged, not planning to stop until they ripped the two apart.

“Primal Essence Pearl!” Chang Ming immediately took out the Primal Essence Pearl, and a white light encased the surroundings, preventing the resentful spirits from approaching.

“Roar! Roar!”

The resentful spirits showed ferocious expressions.

“Bunch of pests! Fly Daoist, get out here!” the Mosquito Daoist snarled in a rage, as the Fly Daoist had lured over too many resentful spirits this time. To think there were a million—and still increasing.

Although the Primal Essence Pearl blocked the resentful spirits, the two’s path was also blocked; they could not leave.

“Fly Daoist, you know we have the Primal Essence Pearl. These resentful spirits cannot get near us. This is not beneficial to either of us. What can you achieve with this?” the Mosquito Daoist roared furiously.

Buzz!

Suddenly, a black mist appeared around Chang Ming and the Mosquito Daoist. Just as the two were confused, the Primal Essence Pearl’s light suddenly dimmed. The Mosquito Daoist and Chang Ming suddenly became dazed, about to fall asleep.

“Who says that this is not beneficial to either of us? Hahaha! I asked Lifespan Chunshen to lay a Burial Mound Lifespan Ritual Array here!” The Fly Daoist’s sneer came from a nearby forest.

Eeee! Eeee! Eeee! Eeee!

Two corpse worms suddenly appeared in the black mist around the two and instantly tried to burrow into the two’s bodies.

At this moment, the two were in a dream, unable to resist. Unlike Gu Hai, they could not regain consciousness through logic. Once they fell for it, they would be controlled. More importantly, the Primal Essence Pearl had dimmed, allowing the one million resentful spirits to charge over. They would be ripped to shreds, for sure.

The Fly Daoist’s plan was perfect. It looked like Chang Ming and the Mosquito Daoist would die soon.

Just then, Chang Ming and the Mosquito Daoist regained consciousness. Then they thrust out fingers.

Phish! Phish!

The two stabbed the two corpse worms.

Eeee! Eeee! Eeee! Eeee! The two corpse worms shrieked.

Then Chang Ming and the Mosquito Daoist each took out a jade box covered in restrictions.

Clack!

The two placed the severely injured corpse worms into the jade boxes.

“What? How did you wake up?” the nearby Fly Daoist exclaimed.

Buzz!

Chang Ming activated the Primal Essence Pearl again, and light reappeared. The resentful spirits charging over retreated immediately with miserable cries.

“Lifespan Chunshen helped you lay the Burial Mound Lifespan Ritual Array? Do you think Lifespan Chunshen has a monopoly on the Burial Mound Lifespan Ritual Array? Having already faced it once, how could His Reverence not prepare for it? His Reverence and the Unborn Man gave us some lifespan talismans for contingencies, to guard against the Burial Mound Lifespan Ritual Array.” The Mosquito Daoist looked coldly at the forest.

“That’s impossible! You bastard! You bastard!” The Fly Daoist’s depressed cry at his plan’s failure came from the forest.

The Fly Daoist had planned out everything. The Dried Lamp Buddha would face Gu Hai and Bodhisattva Lian Sheng, the Sword Deity Six Paths would face Kong Xuan, and Lifespan Chunshen would face the Unborn Man. Given this, he could face the Mosquito Daoist and Chang Ming alone in the Three-Layered Past Conception. Adding his scheme, he should be able to snatch the Primal Essence Pearl easily.

How could he have expected the two to be prepared?

“Roar!”

Just then, a group of resentful spirits charged the forest where the Fly Daoist was.

“Scram!”

Boom!

The incensed Fly Daoist sent a group of resentful spirits flying with a punch, but knocking away a group of resentful spirits only lured over more.

“You are just causing trouble for yourself! Humph!” the Mosquito Daoist snorted coldly.

“Where are His Reverence and the others?” Chang Ming called out.

The Fly Daoist ignored the two.

Whoosh!

The Fly Daoist executed a chain of powerful attacks, destroying a portion of the resentful spirits. However, the resentful spirits returned, as the Fly Daoist could not destroy them all. He ended up in a difficult position.

“Fly Daoist, we had been fighting for many years and can be considered old friends. I’ll give you a chance. Join the Han Imperial Dynasty with me, and we will save you!” the Mosquito Daoist shouted.

Whoosh!

More resentful spirits arrived around the Fly Daoist. However, he possessed extraordinary strength, knocking the resentful spirits away every time. This situation just made it difficult for him to move around.

“Humph! Join the Han Imperial Dynasty? Mosquito Daoist, you are willing to degrade yourself; don’t pull me down with you. Furthermore, we have been fighting for so many years. Do you think we take the same path?” The Fly Daoist furiously rejected the offer.

“You don’t know what’s good for you. Had I wanted to kill you, I would not have just imprisoned you in the land of the living back then; I would have killed you,” the Mosquito Daoist said coldly.

“Humph! Besides the Primal Essence Pearl, you also want my Fly Heart, just like how I want your Mosquito Heart. Only if I am willing can you gain my strength. Otherwise, you would have killed me long ago,” the Fly Daoist sneered as he fought the surrounding resentful spirits.

“That’s right. I used to think that. However, I no longer need it. My vision is now different; I see different things. We can work together; we don’t have to merge. Wouldn’t working together bring the same effect? As long as you are willing to join the Han Imperial Dynasty, I will underscore your importance to His Reverence. We will share the Han Imperial Dynasty’s corps commander position!” the Mosquito Daoist coaxed.

“Ptooey! With just you?” the Fly Daoist retorted coldly.

“Humph! What about me? It is better than this situation where you harm others to your detriment—no, you are also harming yourself!” the Mosquito Daoist said coldly.

“Harm others to my detriment? Humph! I just miscalculated. Just you wait. When the Sword Deity Six Paths and the others finish their opponents, you can all forget about escaping!” the Fly Daoist said coldly with resentment.

Whoosh!

Just as the Mosquito Daoist was about to argue, a boundless crimson light appeared in the surroundings, illuminating the place. Blood filled the surroundings; even the ground oozed blood.

The blood seemed to appear out of nowhere.

Blood springs gushed on the ground, and blood rained from the sky. Blood winds blew in the surroundings, carrying a vast amount of blood. Everyone found themself in a sea of blood.

The countless resentful spirits all showed shocked expressions as if a powerful enemy had appeared. They lost their drive to deal with the Fly Daoist.

The resentful spirits howled as they scattered and fled, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

The one million resentful spirits ignored Chang Ming, the Mosquito Daoist, and the Fly Daoist.

Flee! Flee! Flee! The resentful spirits had only this thought as they hastily left this place. This blood sea turned turbulent in the blink of an eye. As it surged up, the three were like a small boat on the vast sea, likely to capsize at any moment.

The Mosquito Daoist’s eyelids twitched.

“What’s going on?” Chang Ming asked in confusion.

The Fly Daoist also appeared horrified.

“This is not considered harming others to your detriment? You-you-you even lured over the Blood Shaman Resentful Spirit to deal with us? Do you know how big a detour we had to take earlier to avoid it? To think you-you lured it over to deal with us? If anything happens to us, you won’t be in a better position!” the Mosquito Daoist roared in near hysteria.

“I-I don’t know! I didn’t lure it over! It came by itself!” the Fly Daoist stammered in shock.

“What should we do now? How do we leave? Where are His Reverence and the others?” the Mosquito Daoist said in shock and fury.

“Dried Lamp Buddha, let me out! Dried Lamp Buddha!” the Fly Daoist roared in horror.

Whoosh!

The crashing waves on the blood sea prevented any sound from traveling out. The Fly Daoist’s cry for help was useless.

“You…aren’t you both in the ninth-layer Upper Heavenly Palace Realm, just a step away from the consummation of the Upper Heavenly Palace Realm? Why do you fear the Blood Shaman Resentful Spirit?” Chang Ming asked with a frown.

However, the Mosquito Daoist and the Fly Daoist did not explain. The Mosquito Daoist pulled on Chang Ming, shooting off in one direction. The Fly Daoist immediately flew in another direction.

“I died a wronged death!” A sorrowful voice came from the blood sea.

The Mosquito Daoist and Chang Ming suddenly stopped. They saw a crimson-robed old man on the distant sea, holding a cane. His long robes and blood covered him, preventing anyone from seeing his appearance.

The person trudged over like a senile old man but moved strangely fast. It looked like he would arrive before the two in the blink of an eye.

The countless resentful spirits in the surroundings immediately turned and ran when they saw this crimson-clad old man.

“Leave quickly!” The Mosquito Daoist pulled Chang Ming and turned, fleeing in another direction.

The two had just flown away but soon returned, as a crimson old man also appeared in that direction. That old man looked identical to the one before.

After the two changed directions again, yet another old man appeared before them. Sixty crimson old men defined a perimeter, forcing them back no matter which direction they fled.

The same happened to the Fly Daoist, forcing the three back together.

“The Blood Shaman Resentful Spirit! It really is it!” the Fly Daoist cried out in horror.

Chang Ming felt confused. “This is the Blood Shaman Resentful Spirit’s clone? It seems to have a lower cultivation than you two. Why do you fear—”

However, the sixty old men suddenly raised their heads, cutting Chang Ming off in mid-sentence.

“I died a wronged death!” they said in one voice.

Gasp!

A sucking sound came from the hoods of the old men.

Coo!

Awoo!

“Roar!”

A powerful suction suddenly pulled the fleeing resentful spirits back. They tried to struggle but to no avail.

The Blood Shaman Resentful Spirits sucked all the resentful spirits into their mouths in just a while, like a whale sucking in water.

Nothing could flee; it only took five breaths’ worth of time.

Whoosh!

The sucking sound stopped. One million resentful spirits had entered the mouths of the sixty Blood Shaman Resentful Spirits.

The figures of the sixty Blood Shaman Resentful Spirits flashed, merging into one.

The Blood Shaman Resentful Spirits had dealt with the one million resentful spirits that had caused them trouble in one mouthful.

The three gasped simultaneously.

Buzz!

The Blood Shaman Resentful Spirit suddenly faced the three. It felt like a pair of eyes stared at them from within the crimson robes.
