The sound coming from the garden was definitely made by a dog. But, to Pei Zhen the cat, it sounded more like a cry for help.

That’s right.

It was a cry for help.

It was definitely a cry for help.

All of a sudden, Pei Zhen held his tail straight in the air and looked astutely towards the garden.

There was something moving amidst the lush foliage. From the outline that had been blurred by the shady greenery, it looked like shadows of men that were dancing. The sounds never stopped— it definitely wasn’t caused by the wind rustling the leaves.

Fu Sichen frowned slightly. He sensed the change in the Persian cat and followed Pei Zhen’s line of sight. “What’s wrong?”

It had already gotten too dark for him to see anything clearly, and the garden was too overgrown. Even after straining his eyes for a while, Fu Sichen still couldn’t figure out if there was something amiss.

Maybe the cat was interested in the birds just now. It was probably nothing.

Compared to exploring the unknown, Fu Sichen was more concerned about running into paparazzi. He gave the cat a quick pat before saying in a soft tone, “Let’s go home.”

The cat refused to cooperate.

Pei Zhen was still staring in the direction of something that was in the darkness.

“That poor dog.”

“Those people are sick. They didn’t even spare any mercy to a guide dog.”

“Oh no, what do we do now? Maybe that handsome man will find out what’s wrong?”

“What the hell, those two dog thieves are coming in through the dog hole!”

The birds that had flown away earlier were now hovering around the telephone posts, chattering away in a worried manner. Pei Zhen the cat could understand every single word that the birds were saying.

It really was a cry for help!

By this point, Pei Zhen couldn’t take it anymore. With an agile motion, he jumped onto a tree branch and looked towards the shady darkness. There really was a man crawling through a dog hole and another man dragging a dog.

The dog’s eyes were closed and its body was limp. Clearly, it had been drugged.

“Bastards! Stop right there!”

Pei Zhen couldn’t help but let out a curse. All that came out of his mouth was a rather majestic meow; however, at the very least, it managed to make the two dog thieves jump in fright.

“F*ck! Stupid cat!” The fatter one among the two dog thieves was scared stiff. He stood there, trying to hold on to the dog. He turned around and glared at the icy blue eyed Persian cat sitting on the tree. He fumed with anger.

The Fat One bent over, picked up a pebble, loaded his slingshot, aimed, and fired it at the cat.

As a cat, Pei Zhen was as agile as can be. With a slight hop, he easily avoided the flying pebble.

The cat jumped down from the tree and charged fiercely at the Fat One with his claws extended!

“Ahhhhh!”

How could Pei Zhen fail after practicing how to viciously attack someone for so many days? With just one swipe of his claws, the Fat One almost had his flesh torn away!

“Pei Pei!” Fu Sichen cried out in a rare display of anxiety. Putting all of his worries aside, he ran towards them while yelling, “Pei Pei!”

On the other side of the shady darkness, a high wall blocked most of the light from the street lamps. The white Persian cat landed on the ground with his fur all puffed up in anger. Without even the slightest pause, he meowed again before tearing straight for that man once more.

The cat acted with both speed and ferociousness. The Fat One was in pain and fury after being attacked a second time. He tried to dodge to one side when he saw the cat coming towards him again.

The thinner man, who had been crawling through the dog hole, picked up a stone. He steeled himself before aiming and throwing it at the cat.

Pei Zhen was stunned for a while.

But, he didn’t have time to move away.

His gaze followed the stone that was hurtling towards himself before being caught by surprise.

Pow!

Two stones collided in midair. The stone missed Pei Zhen because another stone had come flying out of nowhere to knock away the stone aiming for the cat. Pei Zhen didn’t get hurt because he rolled away just in time.

Silence ensued after the loud collision. Fu Sichen glared at the two dog thieves with an icy expression. “Come here, Pei Pei.”

This time, the cat didn’t resist. He turned his head around before running towards Fu Sichen.

Then, he took a light and nimble jump into Fu Sichen’s outstretched arms.
