Chapter 1687: He Just Wanted To Catch A Glimpse Of You.

The moment Lea finished his sentence, Gu Mengmeng turned to look at Cole too, awaiting his answer.

Cole maintained his mannered smile and stated, “He must be here for the Wolf King.”

Gu Mengmeng turned her head back at Elvis who pondered over it for some time before saying, “I guess he must be used to being dictated.”

After all, Barete had been following Elvis since the establishment of Saint Nazaire.

Besides the matter regarding Gu Mengmeng, Barete still placed quite a high level of acknowledgment in his leader, Elvis.

Gu Mengmeng nodded and instructed, “Alright then, just act according to the circumstances later and show mercy.”

“Okay.” Elvis kissed Gu Mengmeng’s forehead and headed downstairs to the restroom on the second floor to prepare himself.

After the previous time when Elvis tortured Quentin quite harshly, the audience grew even crazier than before. The moment Elvis appeared, the deafening cheers arose and sounded like they were going to destroy the house completely.

Gu Mengmeng stood by the window, watching the stage from the upper level with a conflicted look.

This was largely due to Gu Mengmeng strongly feeling the intentions of the audience’s gaze and cheers when Barete appeared. There was no support or encouragement in them, instead, there was a form of excitement as if they were expecting Barete to become a bloody and gruesome corpse in Elvis’s hands.

Everyone was looking at him with the most heartless gaze, filled with anticipation. They grew more excited as he appeared more pathetic.

This feeling made Gu Mengmeng very uncomfortable.

On the other hand, Barete looked like he could not feel any of the audience’s boiling excitement. He lifted his face suddenly and looked towards the single-sided glass on the second floor.

Obviously, he could not see anything but he felt his heart scrunch up, as if there was something behind that sheet of glass that he desired badly for.

Gu Mengmeng took a step backwards out of instincts. Even though she was aware that Barete could not see her at all, the eagerness and determination in his eyes made her heat ache.

She had delayed his entire life in the Beast World.

In this life, not seeing Barete was giving him the best benevolence she could offer.

Snake stood behind Gu Mengmeng, protecting her with his chest.

He was the one who could best relate to Gu Mengmeng’s feelings by sharing her memories.

“Some people and some matters are unavoidable.” Snake whispered, clasping Gu Mengmeng’s little hand in his. He brought it to his lips and pecked her hand, comforting her, “His determination brought himself to where you are. Your act of avoiding him will make him live this lifetime in vain. He is not as greedy as me. He just wanted….to catch a glimpse of you.”

Gu Mengmeng turned to look at Snake, doubt filling her eyes.

Snake was the most petty male all along. The selfish and possessive nature of snakes was portrayed more vividly in him. He could not do anything about Elvis and Lea because they became Gu Mengmeng’s partners before him while he allowed Gregory to enter Gu Mengmeng’s family because he owed Gregory a favor for watching over Gu Mengmeng for a thousand years.

Other than those three males, he did not allow anyone to step close to Gu Mengmeng, regardless of gender.

Why did he suddenly change his behavior today?

Gu Mengmeng did not have the chance to ask her question when Snake smirked and added, “He can catch a glimpse of you for as long as he wants only if he can break through our defense.”

Gu Mengmeng smiled and shook her head, thinking to herself, “Snake is indeed Snake, he would never change himself.”

The bell of the fist battle rang and the audience held their breath and widened their eyes to not miss any of Elvis’s moves.
