Chapter 243: She was only in her twenties, but she felt like she had already walked through a very, very long life. (1)

What kind of thoughts ran through Xin Siyue’s mind when she went to the disaster area? Perhaps she herself had no idea. Only, in that instant when all her colleagues had taken a step back, she unexpectedly said, “I’ll go!”

As soon as she said that, she could feel the changes in everyone’s gaze.

Xin Siyue did not try to understand the deeper meanings of their looks. All she knew was that the team leader asked, “Do you know what this trip means?”

She nodded and smiled. “I know.”

There was a huge risk and even a threat to her life.

But she wanted to go.

It felt like she couldn’t find a reason not to.

When she was packing her bags, she suddenly saw the book by her pillow and she froze.

Looking at that book for a long time, she did not move. Then, she resolutely put that book into her luggage.

With it, she felt like she could gain a boost of courage.

Before she left, she wanted to leave Chen Junxing a message. But she figured it would be superfluous to make him worry in vain if she were to tell him.

Chen Junxing was better off living an unrestrained life.

But unexpectedly, the situation in the disaster area was worse than she expected. After recording the situation almost in a hurry, she rushed to the people’s aid.

The aftershocks caught her by surprise. By the time she wanted to run, there was no way out.

Stone pillars came crashing down, landing heavily on her weak back. She could feel the sticky blood staining her clothes. The bag she carried with her had long fallen apart, and though she could see the book splayed out on the ground, she could no longer see the words.

It took her a lot of effort to reach out and a long time to bring the book in front of her.

In the darkness, she heard her feeble breaths.

She wanted to call for help but she was already out of breath.

Her head was growing heavier and heavier, and she saw the book turn red.

It was her blood.

Everything felt like it had gone back to the beginning again.

Back to the moment she fell down that stairwell.

Only, things were a lot different now.

All the sweet and bitter moments played back in her mind just like a film.

She was only in her twenties, but she felt like she had already walked through a very, very long life.

Reality truly was tiring.

When Xin Siyue shut her eyes weakly, she figured that release may be a good thing.

Perhaps she would be able to see that person she missed so much before she passed on.

“Chen Sinan…”

“Honey, wake up!”

“Honey, wake up!”

His voice…

Chen Sinan’s voice…

“Wake up! Siyue!”

Why are there so many voices ringing in her ears?

“Wake up!”

Did she wake up?

It was still dark all around her. Would she be able to see the light if she opened her eyes?

“Wake up, honey!”

“Chen Sinan…” Xin Siyue’s lips moved. Her voice was very quiet, but it excited the man who was waiting by her side.

“She’s awake! She’s awake! I’ll go call the doctor!” Xin Qiancheng quickly said.

“Hurry!” Chen Sinan quickly leaned down to stroke Xin Siyue’s cheek. “You’ve finally woken up! Finally!”

“Chen Sinan…” Xin Siyue slowly opened her eyes and saw that all-too-familiar face. Only, his cheeks were much thinner.

“Are you Chen Sinan?”

“Honey!” Chen Sinan buried his head between her shoulder, his own trembling uncontrollably.
