The car quickly arrived at the airport and there was still no news from Qin Yu. Pei Shaoze took his younger brother directly through the first-class passage and through the security check before boarding the flight back to Rong City.
At 12:30 a.m., the flight arrived at Rong City Airport. The driver who received Zhang Fan’s notice was waiting at the airport. Pei Shaoze threw the suitcase into the car and ordered, “Go to Binjiang Private Hospitals.”
The driver drove quickly. He took the expressway and arrived at the hospital entrance at 1:30 a.m. Pei Shaoze didn’t take out his suitcase. He got straight out of the car and strode toward the hospital. Pei Shaoyan hesitated before deciding to wait at the door for his brother to come back. He didn’t want to follow and be a lightbulb.
Qin Yu was on the night shift and was sleepy. Suddenly, his phone rang and Pei Shaoze’s low voice entered his ears. “How is Cheng Xia?” his voice was slightly hoarse and was filled with obvious uneasiness and anxiety.
Qin Yu, who didn’t get any sleep, hurried out of his office wearing a white coat. “I couldn’t get through when I tried to call you before. Cheng Xia is fine. The wound is just under his shoulder and is a skin wound. His heart and lungs weren’t hurt. I placed him in Ward 3 on the 10th floor of the inpatient department.”
Pei Shaoze sighed with relief. “I was just on the plane and there was no signal. I’ll go and see him.”
Qin Yu was taken aback. “What? On the plane? Surely you didn’t rush back overnight to see him at the hospital?”
Pei Shaoze didn’t answer.
By the time Qin Yu came to Ward 3, Pei Shaoze had already entered. He must’ve been near the elevator when he called. He rushed over from the airport. There was a trace of coldness around his body, his brow was slightly furrowed and his expression was very ugly.
Qin Yu stood at the door. He was about to push it open but then he retracted his hand.
Cheng Xia’s eyes were closed and he seemed to be asleep. In the dim light of the room, the young man on the hospital bed had a pale face and slightly dry and cracked lips. It was very distressing to see. Pei Shaoze sat by the bed and watched the sleeping Cheng Xia, his eyes gradually softening.
During the two hour flight, he had been on pins and needles on the plane and his mind was a mess. His sense of reason told him that Cheng Xia shouldn’t have a major accident but he still couldn’t help worrying. Perhaps he cared too much for Cheng Xia and the ‘parental mentality’ of protecting him went out of control for a while.
Cheng Xia’s sleep wasn’t deep. He noticed that someone was watching him and woke up in a daze. He was stunned after meeting the alpha’s gentle eyes and thought he was dreaming. “P-President Pei, aren’t you on a business trip in Ya’an?”
He struggled to get up but Pei Shaoze immediately pushed him back down on the hospital bed, in a low-pitched voice, he very gently said, “Lie down and don’t move. You are still injured.”
The alpha’s fingers were slender and powerful. Cheng Xia was held down and was completely unable to resist. The real strength and touch of the fingers made Cheng Xia finally wake up. His eyes widened. “Is it really President Pei?”
“I heard you had an accident and I changed my flight to come back and see.” Pei Shaoze had a gentle expression as he gently patted Cheng Xia’s hands that were exposed outside the blanket. “It is okay.”
Cheng Xia stared at the alpha in front of him and didn’t know what to say for a while. Before, the sharp pain from his shoulder made him numb. The blood that gushed out made Shen Kai scream and the surrounding agent, assistant and director all rushed up. The scene was chaos…
Cheng Xia knew he had been stabbed but he wasn’t a doctor and he couldn’t judge the severity of his injury. In addition, he had never encountered such a thing before and the chaos at the scene made him even more anxious. The panicked eyes of the people around him made him think that the injury was particularly serious!
After filming in the heavy snow for several hours, he was so frozen he almost lost consciousness. His nervousness caused him to eventually pass out. Once he woke up, he found himself in the hospital. The doctor surnamed Qin was very gentle and told him that the wound wasn’t deep. It had been treated and he would stay in the hospital for observation.
Cheng Xia fell asleep in a daze. He never dreamed that President Pei would actually change tickets and rush back overnight due to this incident. He came all the way from Ya’an in the south to Rong City in the northernmost part of the country.
The clock showed it was 1:45 a.m. Pei Shaoze appeared in front of him at night. Seeing the alpha’s snow-covered hair, Cheng Xia’s eyes were slightly hot. He lowered his head and whispered, “President Pei, thank you for hurrying back to see me so late at night… I’m sorry, I know you were on a business trip. I caused you trouble…”
Pei Shaoze saw the young man’s guilty expression of ‘doing something wrong’ and his heart softened. He couldn’t help reaching out a hand to touch Cheng Xia gently on the head. He told Cheng Xia softly, “You don’t need to apologize. It isn’t your fault. There was an accident during filming and no one expected it. In the final analysis, what happened today is the responsibility of the props team. I will check it out. You just rest in the hospital without thinking about it.”
He was completely unaware that his voice was as gentle as coaxing a child.
Cheng Xia’s face was slightly red. He lowered his eyes and didn’t dare look at Pei Shaoze. The alpha’s actions were too intimate. When Cheng Xia grew up and was wronged, only his father would touch his head like this and coax him with the words, ‘Cheng Xia, don’t be sad. Dad will be here for everything.’
Now this alpha man a few years older than him was comforting him affectionately like his father.
The alpha’s slender and powerful fingers touched his hair lightly. All the grievances, tension and fear inside Cheng Xia were smoothed out and healed by this action. Cheng Xia’s heart sped up for a while. The warmth from Pei Shaoze’s palm made him flustered but it also made him uncontrollably greedy.
The alpha’s pheromones obviously had an abstinent woody scent and his body was mixed with the coldness of winter but Cheng Xia felt particularly warm and at ease staying beside him.
Pei Shaoze touched Cheng Xia’s head and expressed comfort.
In his view, this was just a ‘parent comforting their child’ He thought that Cheng Xia wasn’t just physically injured and mentally frightened. His injury would delay the filming of the crew so he obviously felt very guilty and blamed himself. Pei Shaoze felt that as the ‘guardian’ of the seedling, he should comfort the seedling.
He didn’t regard Cheng Xia as a man he could fall in love with. In his eyes, Cheng Xia was just a simple child who needed Pei Shaoze to look after his growth. Thus, he acted naturally.
The room was very quiet. Cheng Xia, whose hair was touched, had red cheeks. Pei Shaoze noticed this and frowned slightly. “Your complexion isn’t right. Do you have a fever?”
He reached out and placed the back of his hand against Cheng Xia’s forehead to test his temperature.
Cheng Xia shrank back like he received an electric shock. His ears were red and his voice trembled. “P-President Pei…”
Didn’t his high school physiology teacher teach him that as an alpha, he shouldn’t touch an omega’s body?
The author has something to say:
The relationship between the two will slowly heat up.
President Pei still isn’t very clear about the ABO setting. An 18-year-old omega who has completed differentiation is a markable adult, not a child 🙂
