At the young age of eighteen, Lin Qingyu was married off to the Nanan Hou Mansion as part of a Chong Xi tradition. This meant that he became the male wife of the sickly Lu Wancheng. On the night before their wedding, Young Master Hou lounged on the bed and confessed to Lin Qingyu, "Honestly, my dear, I have no interest in getting involved in any domestic disputes.
